Planning to have a Bachelor Party in Reno during the first weekend of March Madness. I have never really stayed in a suite in downtown. I've been in the big suite at the Eldorado and really like the big bar and lots of seating area. Is that the best one downtown? Bar area and socializing area is more of the concern than sleeping area. Is there a trick to reserving these rooms and geting a decent rate. There will be about 8 to 10 people. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

I've never booked any Eldo suite but THIS was in my mailbox this morning:

Peppermill suite deal:

Hi NealDeal,

Downtown, I've stayed in both the Eldorado and Silver Legacy's suites - the Large Player's Spa Suite at the Eldorado, and the Deluxe Spa Suite at the Silver Legacy. Socializing wise, you'd be better off with the one you mentioned at the Eldorado, because the biggest they've got at the SL is the Deluxe Spa Suite, which technically is the same size of the regular one, but with about 5-10 square feet of extra sitting space, an extra window, possibly better views than the others, and a small table and two chairs.

Harrah's has suites but I think they're reserved for the high rollers and don't seem readily available on their site. I think there might be a couple of bigger, by-phone-reservation-only ones at the Circus Circus but you'd probably be better off elsewhere. Their mainstream ones aren't anything more than a mainstream room with a loveseat.

The Silver Legacy worked out best for me, because surprisingly enough, they only required a $25 deposit for credit and debit cards, $50 deposit if you were paying cash per night for the incidental deposit. The Eldorado required $200! I wasn't charged resort fees at either place but not sure if the same holds true if it's not a comp offer.

I'd steer clear of the GSR and the Sands Regency, you'll just get filth. The Siena is awesome but I think their suites are much smaller than the others as it's more of a boutique hotel.

If you do wind up at the Peppermill, go with the Luxury or Penthouse Suite in the Peppermill Tower. Deposits are $100 per night, and you'll get an awesome wraparound bar and lots of sitting space. I think the two might connect. The smaller ones might not be big enough for your party. Or, if you have some money to burn, about $3600 per night last time I checked, go all out with the Safari or Roman Opulence Suite - 2 stories, 5000+ square feet of party space, and God knows what else! The Pep is notorious for overbooking, so be sure to utilize the online checkin the day you're arriving so your suite doesn't get taken.

Most casinos are having specials like the one in JD's link. Poll their sites for offers and offer codes. I'd advise NOT using a third party provider like Expedia and book directly with the property - since I've been a local here, I've bumped into several people who complain about not getting what they were promised when using other companies - some even paying for suites and getting put in mainstream rooms - and the front desk staff at most places is usually very quick to tell you they can't do anything because the booking was not done directly with them.

Have fun!

Now THAT'S an analysis of suites!

A "Suite" at the Sands - can you imagine???

All I can contribute is that the pictures of the suites on the Eldo site were pretty cool. The best one on display had a shower that was visible from the bedroom, and surrounded only by glass walls - the mind reels at the possibilities...

The reels, of course, reel with the usual possibilities....

Hey thanks Mammoth, we booked the Spa tower one bedroom suite at Eldo, it's the one with the big bar and it's 1500 sq ft so it should be perfect. We got a really could deal so we couldn't pass it up. Thanks for all the advice

Now, don't forget: you owe us a trip report, complete with every filthy detail of what happens in that kitchen, er, suite!

No rowdiness is beneath us; I don't ever recall seeing a "Family-Friendly" label on this board, so let's have maximum verbosity when you get back and write it all up...

Also, pictures are always appreciated! The blurrier, the better - we like to let our imaginations wander...

Yes we want details! Am I blind because I don't see that much shadiness in Reno. In fact, I proposed to my friends that we pretend to "porn slap" in the Reno streets! But instead of handing out fliers of naked girls it would have a photo of kittens with the number to support Peta on it.

But seriously, put up a trip report about how you tore up the town. Then I can use it as a template for my next visit!
