PostHeaderIconDonna, A New Member Shows Her Commitment

I want to let you know how wonderful the Adopt a Bird Program is at Raave.

I had only been a member for a couple of months when Pat called me to ask me if I wanted to foster a lilac crown amazon bird. Of course, I said yes, and the owner and her husband brought Oscar over, with cage. She is a very pretty little girl, and I immediately fell in love with her. With in the next two weeks I purchased a beautiful new cage and asked Pat to send me the adoption papers as I wanted to keep Oscar. She calls to my African Grey and has settled right in.

Within the next month, Pat again called me to say that a Moluccan Cocatoo was available immediately. I called the owner and she brought Peaches over that same day. It seemed that the owners husband was extremely ill and could not stand Peaches any more. So, reluctantly, the wife had to find Peaches another home.

Peaches is only 10 years old and is extremely affectionate and will let anyone and everyone hold her. She is the love of my life, and she too has adapted to her new home and new bird friends perfectly.

The first night I had Peaches, I cuddled her in my arms and we watched the basketball play offs together. She does scream a lot but I do have ear plugs and never scold her. I do ask her to stop and go over and pet her as she wants constant attention. She responds by saying "Hi Peaches" and gives me constant love.

I took Peaches to the bird club meeting last Saturday and she had a great time as did the other people there playing with and petting her.

I can't thank the Adopt a Bird part of Raave for sending me such adorable new children.

My previous Moluccan Cockatoo had passed away about 4 years ago very suddenly. She was the cage mate to my African Grey and Mia, the African Grey really missed Cassandra. I had a autopsy performed by my veterinarian and found out that Cassandra passed away from liver disease.

Now, the 3 birds are in my living room, each in their own cage but so close that they call and speak to each other. No one is lonely now.

One final thought - if someone is fortunate enough to get a bird from Raave's Adopt a Bird Program, I hope that they contribute financially to the Program as have I.
