One - just got a flyer from GSR that announces a new blackjack game that allows double down after hitting (say you have a 6 and a 2, you hit and get a 3 for 11 total, you can then double down). You can also double after splitting pairs and split an unlimited number of times (although if it's a single deck game "unlimited" means a max of 3). I haven't checked it out personally, but I suspect there might be some kind of catch (there always is) like blackjack only paying 6:5 or worse, but if it's a legitimate 3:2 payoff it might be worth playing. People should boycott 6:5 blackjack games and let the casino know it.

Two - we went to the Jazz - Orleans Style Cafe at the Legends Sparks Marina last night. We won't be going back again. Without going into a lot of detail, I will just say that the main entree for all 4 of us was served just barely above room temperature. The staff was very attentive and did offer to bring us another serving, but we had already waited a long time and didn't want to stay any longer. The menu looked very interesting so there might be some hope for the place if you order the right thing. Two of us had Creole offerings which were very tasty once we got beyond the temperature issue. The other two had breaded shrimp and breaded chicken dishes which were barely edible - the breading was thicker than the meat and hard as a rock. This place has been open for a couple of months now so I can't attribute this to opening day inexperience. The warehouse - like layout of the place made for very loud background noise so it's not the place for an intimate conversation, but it added a nice ballroom sort of vibe to the music when the band started to play. In short, the staff was great, the surroundings were loud, the food was not good but has potential if you're lucky enough to order the right thing, but there are plenty of other places to go in Reno that are more reliable.
