tHIS WILL be brief but I have spent time recently in Laughlin.
Love the weather, so nice warm and dry. But wind is picking up as temps decline. Still close to perfect place and time.

Not lookiing forwar to the lousy weather ahead in the north.

As to Fitz-like: These places are mostly EMPTY. This is the fewest people I have ever seen here. Never a line to eat. You could somethimes fire a gun thru the places and hit no one.
The employees who still have jobs are mostly working only 12-16 hours a week.

On the positive side, the old Flamingo (which I never liked) is now the Aquarius. They appeal to me and the casino is busy. They even have some full pay VP machines, a non smoking section, and a decent choice of recent machines. The Sports Book has been downsized.

The negatives: I don't see these new owners of these 6-7 casinos competing to survive in this difficult market. Even less food offerings, much less hours open for everything. Promotions are down while the market is devastated.

Our favorite place was always the Boiler Room at the Belle with 6 home brewed Ales on tap. It has been leased out. First to Bennigans who are bankrupt. Now to Rock Bottom Brewery (that names inspires a lot of confidence) out of Texas. They will apparently fill the taps with Bud Lite and who knows what else.
They don't open till about 4 pm 4 days. They always close about 9 pm even on weekends. One third of the VP machines are gone and the rest are rumored to be going.

Sad how a good place can be run into the ground.

The bar and VP machines are only available when the restaurant is open. Wow, such a deal -- umm, a DUMB deal.

Enjoy.
