Wednesday - We left Raleigh mid day which is unusual for us. Flew Southwest. Four hour flight to Phoenix and on to Reno. Got to the Pep 7:30 p.m. Pep was still quiet prior to the Labor Day Holiday. Went up to a remodeled room on the 5th floor. Bed was comfortable but didn't like the sheets. Sheets didn't breath and had a plastic feel. Only other complaint was the Tuscan framed mirrors looked like a plastic purchase from Big Lots. Wah! can I whine or what?

Ate a late supper at the Coffee shop. Usual comfort food menu.

Had some luck on the slots and video poker. Gary hit Coyote Moon hitting for $135. Mystical Mermaid 40 bonus spins for $138. Larry 4 scatters for $125.

Thursday - Saw our bartenders at the Cube bar. They are terrific as usual. Gary hit playing Bonus Deuces Wild 4 deuces on the deal, no ace for $400.

Watched football NC State lose to South Carolina. Another long season for the NC State Wolfpack.
Had a great meal at Romanza – veal with shrimp scampi.
On my way up to the room I stopped at $1 triple double slot machine at a bank by the Customer Service Desk. Hit Blue 7 x2 x3 for $700. Glad I stopped

One thing that was mentioned in a previous report was the new addition has destroyed the sun at the pool. Who designed this?

Friday was a very unusual day. Gary had cut firewood in NC the Sunday before we left. He found a tick and removed it on Monday. He also noticed a spider bite on his upper thigh. He applied Benadryl ointment and Neosporin throughout the week. Come Friday, he had swelling and red rash on the thigh and closer areas. Valet dropped us off at an urgent care. Physician looked at it and said he thought it was abscessed and we needed to go to St. Mary’s hospital. Called the Pep and they carted us off to the hospital. Spent 3.5 hours at emergency. ER doctor treated him with 2 antibiotic scripts for Lyme Disease and spider bite. The infection hadn’t hit the blood stream yet. We took a cab back to the Pep and dropped off the scripts at Walgreens. A stretch took him back to pick up the meds. Shame he didn’t have the driver go through the drive in.

Gary is trying to figure out how we can get reimbursed for 2,500 mile travel reimbursement for the medical bill and scripts.
This adventure really cut into our gambling on Friday.
Had dinner at Saucy’s. Gary had the brisket and I had the ribs. Pretty good. But we enjoyed the Food Court for a quick meal.

Saturday, the Pep is getting busy for the weekend. Lots of families. Split a sandwich at the Sports Bar. Played all day and watched a lot of football.
Supper was at Oceana. Lobster tails and vanilla bean crème brulee.

Sunday, we checked out to a zero balance and spent some time with our host. We flew to Albuquerque for 5day stay in New Mexico and Durango Colorado checking on our properties. Had dinner with friends on two separate evenings and made some upgrades to our condo.
Friday we flew home to Raleigh with about a 2 hour window before the heavy rains and winds from Hurricane Hannah. Whew what a good trip!

Next one is booked for Dec. 6

Neat trip, though I am sorry for the negative portion.

Still, you guys seemed to have fun and do well with the wagering.

I don't know how people get both their room and food comped at the Pep. I feel like I risk a lot of dough while there. They comp my room as offered in mail but never comp a single dollar of food.

Sun, who needs it? It is too hot in Reno this time of year anyway.
As weather cools, the sun will move north and maybe hit the pool area at a better time of year.

Thanks for the report. The TRs always make Reno seem a bit more real and a lot closer in distance and time.

If it weren't for that annoying medical trip, you would never have had to set foot outside the Peppermill!

Bummer on that, but it's good to see a fun (and profitable) trip take place.

Thanks for the TR!

How's Gary doing now with the bites? and did they know which bug caused the infection?

Stone man - I can't explain it either. Gary and I play on one account of comps. That may add alot to the comps earned. When we go, we play hard and don't venture anywhere else. We do end paying the bill with the coin in.

Reno lady - Gary is doing fine now. The antibiotics started working in a couple of days. The ER doctor went to a treatment book and wrote two scripts, one to knock out tick and spider bite.infections.

On a funny note, an ER RN looked at Gary at check in evaluation, looked at us straight in the face and said it was probably an infected hair. God help us if he goes on to medical school.
