1. Maybe you should re-think your trip before even going. I'm flying out Thursday night. Thursday morning, my girlfriend who's supposed to meet me in Reno on Friday goes into the hospital. LIR is supposed to land in Reno 15 minutes after me, only to have his flight re-routed. Now he's landing 2 hours later. The bad juju has already started and I haven't even left SD.

2. The airport park and ride lot has gone down hill. I had to hoof it, with bags, to the front gate because the idiot shuttle driver didn't see me standing by my car. WTF??? I've never had this problem before. I also noticed they didn't have as many shuttles running, probably due to the price of gas. More bad juju.

3. Murphy's Law states... If you're cutting it close on time you will: hit traffic on the way to the airport, get fucked over by the shuttle car dudes, and the security line will be the longest you ever seen. I swear to God the security line was a mile long and this was a Thursday night...WTF??? ugh, the juju is really bad now.

4. Never, ever, ever take a Toyota Prius if offered as a rental car (I didn't know until I got out to the lot). It is not only the gayest car on the planet, it's the weirdest to operate. Oh and when you're in Reno for Hot August Nights, which has everyone from around the country with their classic hot rods...well you can imagine what driving a Prius is like (totally gay, I just had to say it again!). it just keeps getting worse...

5. The Peppermill's new rooms are fantastic. The time to take to check in to the Peppermill, not so fantastic. I'd never seen a checkinling punch keys on their computer for 10 minutes...WTF are you inputting my life story?

6. Before getting into the shower check to see if the room has a hair dryer! On a busy night it can take 30 minutes to get a friggin hair dryer.

7. Check the door to the robo-bar upon entering the room. When one is without a hair dryer, pissed off and in need of a cocktail it's imperative that the door to the robo-bar opens. Now my hairs wet, so I can't even run downstairs to get a cocktail...fuckers! did I mention anything about juju?

8. Biscotti's at the Peppermill has the BEST prime rib french dip ever! I'm not a huge beef eater, but this sandwich was so tender and good that LIR and I split 3 of them over the course of our 4 day stay. As an added bonus, ask them to add swiss cheese!

9. Hot August Nights is a lot of fun if you're into classic cars. The cars and people watching are awesome!

10. I don't care what anyone says, I think slot tourneys are fun...LOL. Somehow I always end up middle of the pack though. Peppermill gives you a badge for the duration of the tourney, which allows you free drinks at certain bars. This comes in very handy!

11. Best and only pick up line I heard: Hi, can I buy you 5 or 6 drinks!

12. Hitting 4 A's with a kicker on $1 DDB...awesome, especially after holding 2 A's. Coming home down $$ for the trip...not so awesome.

13. Black metal frames on pool lounge chairs is just plain stupid! WTF, you go to rest your arm on the the armrest and get 3rd degree burns??? Who designs this shit?

14. I'm sorry, I'm not a racist, but it seems like there are certain minorities who like to bring 10 kids to the pool and then half of them go in with their shorts and t-shirts on, like they don't have swimsuits?? I was lucky enough to witness one pregnant lady with a white tank top and bra get into the water. We all know what happens when white t-shirts get wet....lovely. Then the kids take over the frickin pool...well, so much for a nice, relaxing swim.

15. Everyone in Reno drives slow.

16. I hate those stupid casino drawings. You hang around and you know they're never going to call your name, but you still hope they will....fuckers!

17. I have no idea why the Atlantis put a sushi bar in their skyway?? The place heats up in the summertime and stinks to high heaven like bad fish or poontang (not that I'd know...lol). How anyone can eat there is beyond me.

18. I don't care what anyone says, Southwest rocks! You can change your ticket on the fly with a minimal change fee.

19. We had dinner with two soldiers at Ichibahn. They were in Reno for a 101st airborne reunion. Wow, these kids are young. We need to get out of Iraq (political rant over).

20. Going home after a long weekend...priceless. I love my own bed!

That's about it for now. If I think of anything else I'll let you know...LOL

Oh a couple more thoughts:

I will never, every play MammothGamblers 10X slot machine again! That thing is a money sucking pit...LOL

OH, I forgot about this...we were at the Atlantis hanging out watching the cars cruise around for Hot Aug. Nights and there was a guy and woman walking around with big white parrots on their shoulders. I told LIR, "I bet that's John, go up and ask". Well guess what, it wasn't...LMAO! See what happens after a couple of beers...LOL

Erin from SOUTH DAKOTA:

At least YOU didn't have a drunk Bartender from the Siena dropping your name all over town....Especially after he was 86d & when he was being questioned by the cops. The unlicensed concealed...oh, nevermind!

Your trip report made me pee my pants...very funny.

A fifth of JD will be waiting for you at the front desk on check in next trip...lol. And it'll be my BEST 1/5th!!

Edited to add: One more thing...make that TWO more things:

1. I'd rather pound a nail into my eyeball than hit Reno during HAN.

2. I'd prefer eating a plate of ground glass to make that 1 1/2 hour flight (which now actually takes SIX DAMN HOURS !!) thanks to all the airport hassles. Note: Nothing cheers me up like reading of someone ELSE'S airport hassles !!

But that's just me.

This list has a highly refreshing candor to it - thanks for observing "outside the box"!

I absolutely hate flying, but thank God that SW has a direct flight to Reno. At leats the flight time is cut in half w/out a layover.

But you're right the 1.5 hour flight is really 4 hours once you factor the time it takes to get to/from airport and wait time.

Thanks for posting Erin. I like how you broke it down.

Hey i think i have you beat with a pool story.

I dont think i mentioned this in my report. Maybe i did.... Im too out of it to go back an look. My kidney stones struck again.. i have been drugged up for the past few days...

So, Dawn and I were looking down at the pool from our room. We notice this younger guy, 20'ish 30'ish with i think was swim shorts, maybe a speedo'ish thing, yanked up his ass....literly yanked up his ass...so it looked like a thong, but bulkier. He was laying on his stomach...So that was gross...then all of a sudden, he starts dry humping the lounge chair. It was disguisting....I have no idea why, but that's what he was doing. It was nasty!!!

The Prime Rib we had the second time was so so. Dawn had tried it before so suggested it. There was so much fat that it was too much to eat it all. We had piles of gristly fat that we had piled up...again...nasty!

Hey Alison!

I would've gotten a kick outta the guy dry humping his lounge chair...LMAO. It's like a train wreck!

We had the prime rib french dip, is that what you had? Each time we had it there was zero fat. I'm salivating just thinking about it...LOL
