Stoneman struck off for Reno for a brief stopover.
Decided, since he seldom uses the room, to stay at the Fitz.
Easy check-in, half-inch added to beard whilst waiting for the elevator, but smooth overall. Room spartan and the view much less than spartan.

Off to the casino. First stop: the free spin/drawing/whatever it's called.
"I'm sorry, sir, the machines are not working." STRIKE ONE!

I replied, "that's ok, but your dates match my birthday. How about a Fitz hat?" She: "I'm sorry, sir, we are out of hats".
Me: OK, so what are you replacing the hat with?
She: "Nothing, sir, have a nice day". STRIKE TWO!!

Off to the bar. How can you go wrong with a free drink badge? You can have anything you want from the bar just by flashing your badge.
OK, but they don't serve "anything you want". STRIKE THREE

So, OK, I'll give them a free foul and one more strike.
Off I go to try a couple of machines. Play a bit, get a little ahead and push the cash out button. Surprise, it's an old-fashioned hand pay.
STRIKE FOUR
After 15 minutes, I receive my 30 bucks. Let's see, that's $120 per hour. In Reno, I should do better.
The Fitz has struck out so off I go to the Bus Barn to catch #1 down Virginia St to the Pep.

Wander a bit, trying lots of stuff: dollars, quarters, 10X machines, etc.
Land on a row of VP machines. Played a few minutes and someone plops down on the next stool. I continue to play without acknowledgement.
Suddenly a set of carkeys bangs against my bare thighs (wearing shorts).
"Oh, sorry sir" and a young lady crawls a bit on the floor to recover the keys. Now, this is at least my third "sorry, sir" in this thread. Getting old..

Play a few minutes and I hear, "Oh, I forgot to put my card in". Momentarily there is another bang on my thigh as she drops her slot card. After retrieving that, she starts chatting a bit.
I try to ignore her. She says something about being a Pep waitress/hostess/whatever but this is her day off.
She is pleasantly attractive and does fit the profile of a Pep waitress.
But she has NO CLASS. She is drinking Coors Light. That is classless. As well as tasteless, has no buzz, and gives a headache. No Class!

So, I figure her for a hooker but I am not a good judge.

Shortly, I bang out four to the Royal, hit the draw button and the 5th card pops up. I hear a "Wow, you hit it; I can't believe it" as the girl to my left grabs my naked thigh. She keeps slapping it and telling me how she just can't believe it.
After my hand, uhh, pay, she says, "Now you have enough to buy me dinner. And, BTW, since we are friends, I gotta tell you that you have very nice looking legs".

I slowly look around. This has got to be a joke. Who is pulling my leg (besides my new best friend, that is)? Where is John? I see no one who looks like his avatar. Is she saying all this because she wants John?

So, testing her, I said "well, I am expecting my friend, John, in a couple of minutes. Maybe we can all go to dinner together". She thinks this is a great idea.
By now, I have cleaned out my machine. I ask her to watch my machine and to watch out for John while I go to the bathroom.
I excuse myself and head straight for Virginia St and old Number 1.
Back to the Fitz for a "dip in the pool".

Get back and count my money and the Pep paid out $400 bucks an hour. I knew I could do better than the measly $120 I made at the Fitz.

So Monday it's back to my 30 bucks an hour in the Stone Mines.

Great stuff! Too bad about the Fitz, since I'd hoped maybe they were going to try to crawl back to some level of dignity - but noooo!

You are most welcome, stan, glad you enjoyed. As I did the trip. Just too short. And this workin for 30 bucks an hour sucks. Wish I was back at the Pep making the big bucks.

Next time, If I have the time, I may check out the new Fandango in Carson. Anyone have experience there?
Maybe someone else will check it out, report back, and save me the trip.

I was just admiring my legs in the mirror. Is it possible that Jerry really has a better set of legs than mine?

Hey- it looks like a winning trip!! I wonder if that gal at the Peppermill was the same one that was trying to work up a deal with me? I asked her what she did, and she told me she was an "adult entertainer".

Must be something about all the neon at the Peppermill and legs. I guess your varicose veins are camouflaged by the lighting?

A trip to the Fandango in Carson is just like the Peppermill. They must have had the same decorator.

Wow, if that would've happened this weekend I could've been mistaken for that girl.

I drop stuff all the time and drink Coors Light, though I don't grab on to my neighbors leg when they hit a jackpot...LOL

Oh and I guess I lack class because CL is my drink of choice when I'm gambling!
