To finalize my recent TR:
First saucy tidbit:
John and I happily did our usual Tues Happy Hour at the Fireside. I liked having the chicken finger in place of the ribs. Much better we both thought. As always, we "broke in" a new waitress.
Witness this interesting exchange:
She walked up to our booth, looked at me and said, "You have nice-looking legs".
I sputtered while John responded: "You must need new glasses".
She responded, "I don't wear glasses".
John: "Then you better have your eyes checked".
My question is this: John said she was hitting on him by using this unusual approach. Anyone have experience along this line?
I am too innocent to know about such stuff.

Saucy Tidbit #2:
Since the ribs are now available only at Smoky's Saucestack, I decided to venture in for lunch before hitting the road to the food wasteland known as Southern Oregon.
I had the BBQ sandwich with all the meats together: The Works or whatever. I sampled all the sauces. None turned me on.
Unlike what we were told earlier, They only give you ONE sauce and it comes ON the sandwich. I chose the Memphis.
It was OK but a bit unredeemable, IMHO.
So, I give the new Smokestack : AVERAGE....

Saucy Tidbit 3:
Not really so saucy but informative as many of you like to know these details.
I had booked 3 nights free, one from PPML drawing in a spa suite, and two from a mailing in a remodeled Tower Room. Drat, I loved the previous several offers putting me in the Tuscan Suites.

Anyway, I checked in and asked about having to check-in, out, in, out. she replied that she could leave me in the spa room (an upgrade) for an extra ten bucks per nite. I said OK. she then noted: Oh, I just noticed that yoou are a Gold Card holder, so there will no charge for the upgrade.
That was nice, except the remodeled rooms are supposedly better.
I was happy. They still have the steam showers which I prefer.
Nothing has been done along this hallway.
The carpet is old whereas it is new along the LONG hallway to the casino. the difference is noticeable.
OTOH, the room was fine with great views in the wrap-around windows. Not like the high-rollers on here but I was satisfied as I spend little time in my room.

Did I say earlier? The air was a b it smoky but not as bad as last month.

Oh, Jerry, Jerry, Jerry. She employed one of the mating game's oldest ploys. She complimented your great legs knowing full well you'd start admiring them yourself. While you were absorbed in your shapely stems, she was smiling, winking and blowing kisses at me. Of course, I ignored her blatant advances because I'm saving myself for Alison.

And you're right about the chicken thingys. Very tasty and easier to eat than ribs.

That is funny about the "nice looking legs" comment. The truth is she was probably just fishing for a big tip. Rolling Eyes

What is the deal with winning a spa suite from PPML? I am a little familiar with http://ppml.podi.org but I think this is not where you won it.

As I recall, Swede, she got a generous tip. Jerry and I chipped in 25 cents each and made her day.

Actually, we gave her $10 for bringing 3 beers and as many appetizer plates each. We tip more for personality than service. In her case, both were good.

sORRY, sWEDE;
I used abbrev. when I should have spelled it out.
The spa suites were won in the daily Peppermillions card swipe at the Kiosks by the Slot Club desk.
They are rare, I think, so I count myself lucky to win them.

OTOH, they ought to let me win SOMETHING every once in awhile.
Actually this is a great giveaway for them as it gets me back to lose more money.

That's like the panhandler on the street corner with two cents in his pocket exclaiming that he is "saving all his money to buy out Microsoft".

Good luck, Ali. I recommend you invest in a nice set of roller skates.
Add in blinders. Then travel under an assumed name.
There is a very good reason they call him the "Bird Man".
(and half of that description is being very generous)

OTOH, I could be saving John for myself. After all, he states that the waitress admiring MY legs thought HE was "cute".

The only thing I ever win in those daily card swipes is extra drawing tickets for Peppermillions...No thanks...LOL

Since I haven't seen your legs I can't say if you truly do have nice legs or it was the waitress fishing for a big tip...LOL

Thanks for the report though! I'm not much into BBQ and wish they hadn't got rid of the food court, I really liked the chinese food station.

Erin: " really liked the chinese food station."

It was good. Also WAS very good at Tivoli gardens in Eldo.
But when they recently downgraded the Mexican food there, I am told they also downgraded the Chinese food. Waitress asked me to complain in my evaluation sheet that I always leave complaining about the "missing tamales".

Since Republicans since Nixon have been selling out to the Chinese, and they now own most of the U.S., maybe we'll soon see more good Chinese food in Reno.
Not Reno related: A few years ago, I traveled to one of the most beautiful spots in North America: Lake Louise in Canada.
Their menu was bi-lingual. Naturally I expected the 2d language to be French. Surprise: it was in Chinese.

Not having been on this board long, I may occasionally experience "egg on my face" because of my naivete.

But, John, I am curious.

My readings indicate that Jerry and Alison have something going. Why are you trying to mess up a "match made in Heaven"?

In my short time here, John, I categorize you as a DREAMER......
And what did the waitress think of your legs?

And, Alison, how goes the Reno Excursion? I know you are having an absolute blast!!

Yes, Stoneman, I am a dreamer. I don't show my legs to the waitresses anymore, because it's so hard to get rid of them after they see such perfection. It took me almost six months to get the last waitress to quit stalking me. Six long months of court orders, guard dogs, body guards and hiding and FINALLY I...uhhh...I mean SHE gave up.
