And that is only ONE-WAY....
I made a 3 day excursion this week. Worst financial bath yet taken.

Enroute, I was attacked by swarms of insects. The highway person called them grasshoppers. I thought they were moths as they had colorful wings and flew/swarmed as they KAMIKAZIED MY CAR. Impossible to clean off after numerous hand scrubs and car washes.
At least 179 defecated on my windshield, a putrid yellow. Again, not to come off. I ran the washers intermittently for 100 miles or so enroute to Susanville.

I wanted to ask JD (if he has time to respond):
Were these the infamous Mormon Crickets of which you have frequently spoken????? (They were dressed in black suits, in spite of the heat, and had a bunch of papers under their wings)

Not as bad on return but I still stopped at car wash to get about 80% cleared before home.

End of part I.

Talk about your attention getting subject lines! I couldn't open it fast enough, which kind of worries me about me.

Sorry your trip was a loser, that's pretty much all I've had too this year. Of course there's no switch in the back, of course it's all based on the random generator thingy, yeah we intellectually understand....but damn, there just isn't much winning going on...

Oh, I elect you as the one most likely to get me busted at my cube for laughing out loud, bugs in suits with papers...

Even worse are the "Romney Crickets", with their chiseled good looks, their presidential aspirations, and their support for quasi-socialized health care...very antithetical to the Nevada ethos, despite the party affiliation!

Jerry, the sun will shine again on your favorite machines - perhaps they are paying out in inverse proportion to the pulse-acceleration factor of your recent avatars??

Finally, with regard to the crickets, I'll pass along this nugget of wisdom provided by my Dad, one of the few times in my life I heard him tell an off-color joke:

"What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind before he hits your windshield?"

"His assho*e"!

Stan, don't you have the punch line reversed?
"What's the last thing to go through a bug's mind before he hits your windshield?"
Doesn't that occur AFTER he hits the windshield?

Anyway there were 8,763 of them on my windshield when I hit the "Biggest Little" but it didn't slow down my progress through the casino doors.

BTW, your joke was the only part of your message I could decipher.

Can anyone detect from this avatar photo that my wife recently had eye surgery?
Happening again in two days.

lOVE those avatars. Should I take up softball? Hmmm??

That is a lot of suicides. Really surprised that no one responded as to what these infernal critters were. Does anyone have an idea? Anyone from that region on this board?

Jerry, spray the front of car with kitchen spray before next trip. Bugs will still adhere but clean off easier.

Love the title of the TR. Surprised it hasn't gotten more response.
Guess most of us have the August Blahs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the interesting TRs.

BTW, did I say how much I LOVE THOSE AVATARS. Keep 'em comin".

We all dream of coming home from Reno and counting our money and wondering what to buy ourselves with our new found wealth. Instead we find other things to count...like the number of bug carcasses on the front window.

Had something like this happen to our group too. Driving by Washoe lake in our rental van just after sunset, a great many (no, didn't count 'em) flying insects did their best to make that front window opaque.

Opaque windows, didactic thoughts, and Ayn Rand.
Too much for me.

Now you know why I count the bugs on the windshield.
BTW, there are still traces of 7 of them on my windshield but I am tired of scrubbing.
I hope to slay thousands more of their relatives in a few weeks.

Jerry, that may just be the best subject line ever in history.

Thank you, Stan.
You, Dave, John, JD and several others often have great subject lines.
I really enjoy them. I like the ALL CAPS for subjects too.
I notice even the new Stone guy is using them. Great.
Hey, you are the guy that has me checking archives for your clever subject lines.

So keep em comin, All.
