Hey Jerry,

Thanks for the detailed description of the new suites...5 doors, wow! From what you've described, it does sound kinda like GVR but on a lesser scale.

That's a hefty amount of bread they charge for paying customers! Hopefully I'll be able to get a few more of their "$99 introductory offers".

Several years ago I reported the only thing I ripped off from my free comped room at Harvey's (Lake Tahoe) was the rate card from the back of the door.

"The maximum allowable rate for this room shall not exceed........

$ 1,200.00 " or something close. I'll bet they'll get it new Years Eve too.

And I didn't even stay the three nights offered....DAMN!

No, Ali, no steam shower in my suite. tho double heads way high, hard to reach to adjust. Nice glass door, large, with nice seat, and of course lovely Italian tiles.

Did they offer you the three free nights in Tuscany for December, as your note inferred?
Who else received this offer?

I sorta felt that it was a blanket offer to most people for December only.
Anyone else care to comment and offer knowledge of the situation?

Again, lovely and well worth the effort to "mush to Reno" for the experience.

Oh, yes, I neglected to mention the robes and slippers which my wife liked a lot. But, my robe disappeared after the second day. We called down but it was not replaced.
Guess the robe went the way of my "investment".

Jerry,
Is it a long walk from the new tower to the main casino area?

I am using this prtially in my decision to stay in one of these rooms.

Thanks,
Ali

Yes, it is a long, inconvenient walk.
In fact, IMO, the whole place was designed poorly.
Not convenient from registration either.
When we stayed there, the second floor elevator area was closed for carpeting, etc. The only way to Tuscany was up an escalator - that is dangerous with luggage, again IMO.

But it's worth the walk to me. I'd love to stay there again. I have another offer but can't ggo because I leave in two days for Denver trip, weather permitting.

I hope to make Reno in March unless I catch a short 2 day bus trip in late Feb. We'll see.

I stayed at the Peppermill last night. I had free room offers for the new tower, but I just asked for the old tower. This was a gambling trip, and I figured I could not tell the difference between the old and new rooms while I was snoring. Laughing

Maybe next time I will stay in the new tower. The area sure looks nice though.

I have always enjoyed/appreciated the rooms in the old tower.
I recently spent two nites there (a month after my tuscan experience) and found my room to be DISMAL.
don't know if it was just me or if my room was not too great. The shower area needed a lot of work.
Course it could have been that John was knocking em dead at the slots and I was losing. ?Frame of mind?

Tuscany is worth the walk. course I walk fast and often.

To summarize, from the front desk to the interior of my Tuscan suite was about a three block walk when all was combined. EACH WAY..... then another two blocks to the part of the casino I play in.

This hadn't occurred to me before but the walk from my bed to my favorite machine was a half mile. Wow, no wonder I lost. I must have been too tired to concentrate.

Well maybe we will stay in them. At least then i can get some form of exercise while there, instead of just sitting on my butt. Laughing

Caswede-will you be writing a trip report for us?

Sorry Alison- not much of a report. I spent only 18 hours in Reno, and gambled most of it at the Peppermill. They gave me $100 in free play and a room. I play just vp and came out dead even for my trip (I guess that is a win?). I spent only about 6 hours in my room, and then headed out of town. I ate only one meal at the Pepp- Biscotti's, and I though it was only "fair" and overpriced. They gave me some dining money, so that is not so bad.

Getting in and out of town was a challenge. I hit chain controls on I-80 for more than 50 miles, so it was slow go, but the snow is pretty.

Next time I will watch the weather reports a little closer.

Wow! that was a quick trip.

So you were not impressed by Biscottis? Can i ask what you ate? That's dissapointing to hear. I was excited to try it out.

I've eaten at Biscotti's once. I thought the food was pretty good, although I agree it was a bit overpriced. The surroundings were very nice, though, and I guess you pay a little for that, too.
