Who does stand up comedy other than the Silver Legacy?

This is not a comedy club exactly, but you might consider Supper Club Zulu, in a small shopping center at the intersection of S. Virginia and Mt. Rose Street, about half way between downtown and the Peppermill. It's at the back of the property so you have to look for it.

This quirky restaurant opened only about a month ago so they are still working out some of the kinks, but it is unlike any other venue in town. The building has been home to a succession of failed dance clubs so it comes with a large stage and dance floor. The dance floor is lower than the outer seating so there is a good view of the stage from every table.

They have free entertainment that varies every night. Most nights it is some form of music, but on Fridays and Saturdays they put on a vaudeville style variety show. This is where the comedy comes in. They have a comedian MC and several comedy skits, but there is also singing, dancing, puppets and, well, variety. The line up is said to change from week to week depending on who feels like showing up, but when we were there we were impressed with the quality of the entertainment. The show starts about 7:30 and they say most shows last around 90 minutes. The food was pretty good, not great. Prices for dinner are mostly in the $18 to $25 range.

Here's another opinion:

I've been privileged to take in the "John and Jerry" show a couple of times at various Reno venues. It's usually "sit-down" comedy but that's just part of the charm.

I've heard that's a pretty exclusive show, Dave. Seems you need to have reservations far in advance.

April is a good month. Is that a given? I might be available.
I heard that twofers were available for tickets to the show. Hard to believe when it is so popular.

I admit that the John and Jerry is a guilty pleasure for me.

I tried to come to Reno in two days but bus got cancelled. Second month in a row. Bummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
