Hello Everyone,
Where to start?? First off, i am not a good writer so excuse me if its boring or what not. Smile Hopefully by me adding pictures, that will make up for my lack of writing skills.

Well, we left on Saturday around 8:45 am. It was a great drive. No traffic. My car ended up getting about 32 mpg, whcih is great considering we had the AC on the entire way.

Whenever i drive to Reno, i am always afraid of deer. Being that i have a brand new car, i was even more afraid. Outside of Susanvile, not sure what the area is called, there is a lake i belive on the left hand side. As we were driving at dusk, i look over and see 2 huge bucks, standing right along the white line of the road. Panic!! My friend was driving and she had just enough time to slow down slightly and swerve a little into the other lane, As we passed them, i turned around and saw there were about 6 or 7 of them. They were Huge! Wow did that scare us. The ironic thing was not even 5 minutes before that Dawn had mentioned that this was her least fav time to drive as all the animals start to come out. Below is a photo that i took in that same area. I thought the moon and the sky color was so pretty so i had to take a pic.

So we get to reno around 9:30 ish. We end up with a not so great room, 624. I guess what can you expect when you arrive on a Sat night. Oh well, it was free. There were about 6 large lights shinig right up towards the building. We had a room that hd the loudest, longest flushing toilet ever. The vanity light did not work, iron did not work, and a couple other little things that i cant remeber at the moment. Below is a pic of our room: (look floridagambler, your fav color)

So on to the trip. We had a great time. My friend was not feeling too well most of the trip unfortunately.

The first night i stayed out until 3 or 4, not sure exactly. i ended up being down about $80.00 for the night. Played lots of games. Was not really winning on anything. that pretty much was the theme of this trip. I must say it was pretty depressing to loose, loose and loose. I went thru my money so fast. I hate when yuo are loosing. it makes your trip so depressing. On wednesday i did sit down on an Alien machine over by romanza and did pretty well. I had it set at .02 and started of betting 60. I eneded up getting that machine up to $1000.00. i was betting 200 and 300 credits which was alot. I racked up a ton of play which is good. I must have been on it for at least an hour. After being up, i decided to try $1.00 slots. bad idea. lost about $300.00 quick. Then i went back to the video slots which again sucked my money. Dawn's biggest hit was only about $300.00 the entire trip. We just could not win more then $50.00 here and there. So nothing too exciting to report in the gambling portion of this trip.

I will say the Pep sure does have a large assortment of slots now. I coudl not beleive all the changes there. WOW! It really is looking like a Vegas resort. The sports book was really cool.

We ate at the Deli that they added. I thought it was so, so. My hot dog was not very hot. It was just slightly warm. I like my hot dogs hot! Wink Also i had the chicken noodle soup which too was just barely warm. Not sure what was up with that.

We ate at the Steakhouse which was yummy as always. I had the New York Steak w/ peppercorn sauce. We also ate at the romanza twice. The second time i had the chicken parmagan (SP), and i swear it was not cooked. I actually had them take it back. The chef swore it was cooked. I then tried it again and it still did not taste cooked. It had that rubbery texture too it. I was grossed out and did not want it after that. the one thing that has changed in the restraunts, is everyhting is al la carte. They used to include salads with the meals. No longer. I know this is typical practice in most nice restraunts, but i was still kinda dissapointed that they changed.

We ate at the Buffet twice which was great and the Coffee Shop severals times for those 2 a.m meals. really good as always.

The casino did not seem too busy. towards the end of the week though it was picking up. I guess because of the Golf tournament.

What else??? Hmm. All in all, it was a fun trip. Dont think i will drink any strawberry margaritas or daquiris for awhile. All of our food was comped as well as the room. I sure am glad i have my connection there. He hooks us up! I htink my coin in/out was pretty high. I ended up earning 50 of the big spin tickets, even though i could not use them. Dawn earned 20. hopefully my free play offers go up. We could not believe how fast it went by though. too quick! We have decided to go at least twice a year no matter what. We plan on having a 4 day trip then a longer trip where we drive. I am so used to the drive now that 13 hours does not seem long at all. We actually enjoy it.

I thought i would include a picture of Mt Shasta.

Well thats it. Not too exciting. I know all that anticipation for the trip, then it was over like that. No exciting details to report. Sorry guys! until next time!

If anyone has any question, feel free to ask. I know that this is a pretty brief report, but i wanted to get something posted since i always pester everyone else for their trip reports.

Hey Alison,

Thanks for the awesome trip report.

"Below is a pic of our room: (look floridagambler, your fav color)"

NOT EVEN!!! Is that the one they call "plum?" I'd be hurling...

Glad to see your new ride is gas-friendly and you steered clear of the animals. That's good your room and food was comped...sure beats paying, especially if the room and food had some issues. Is that area around the neon sign that says "CASINO" the Montego Bay Wing? If so, it looked alot nicer than I thought it would.

Congrats on your big win on the Alien. Did you happen to see or play the "dead hamster game" or any of those Hot Hot Pennys anywhere? Hey, at least you had a couple of good hits. It's when you lose it all on the first night or the first hour (like I did last night at the Hard Rock!) when it really gets depressing.

Sorry the food scene wasn't the best for you all. The rubbery chicken part sounds spooky!

It's a shame your friend wasn't feeling well. That's always a drag. Did you all just stay/play at the Peppermill, or venture out anywhere else? Did you get to go through Tahoe at all?

It sounds like you really liked the new additions. I was tripping out when I saw that they stuck with the moon carpet in the skywalk.

Sounds like you all had a blast. Be sure to try an Imperial Suite sometime. Mt. Shasta looks awesome!

Andy,
We were suposed to head to Tahoe on wednesday, but only made it to the krispy kream . Laughing We decided to just stay at the Pep and play. We really doloe it there, and my friend was not feeling thta great. Tuesday we decided to go to the downtown area and palyed at the Fitz for awhile. i did not win much there either. No luck!! oh well. i did play awhile so hopefully i will get back on the mailings for free dinners at Limericks.

I did play some of the Hot Shot Penny machines. They did not do anything for me. Just ate my money!!!I looked all over for that hampster machine but never noticed it. I was looking though.

The area outside our room was the Montego bay area, oceano ect. Usually we stay on the other side. It sure was weird looking out in person at the new tower. You see it on the web cam, but that really does not do it any justice. The thing is huge!!

The next time we stay will most likely be in the new tower. I will say though i dont like how far away it is from the casino area. Its nice to get off on the one elevator bank that drops you right behind the players club booth and into the casino.

Thanks for writing up the trip report, I know it's harder to do when it's not a winning trip!

Were the rooms in the lodge part? It doesn't look like the tower, but I haven't stayed at the Pep in a while.

Yes we were in the tower. We were just on one of the lower floors.

It is hard to get excited about writing a trip report when there are no exciting wins to report. I spent alot of time wathcing my friend gamble actually. Thats how fast i would loose!

Good report for a bad gambling trip. Sorry you didn't do much better. I was looking for you at the Peppermill because I won $1,000 on your Harrah's card and wanted to give you half. Since I couldn't find you, I spent the money on a large screen TV. Oh, well, maybe next time.

Yes, the Peppermill has changed. Now the Atlantis has announced a new tower to keep up with the competition. Ya gotta love it.

Hope you do better next trip.

I am sure everyone will be making some changes to their properties soon. The Pep is really gonna be a step or two above the rest once everythign is completed. I cant wait!

Great trip report Alison. I love your pics, especially the moonrise ones. I have driven thru there and love the area. I think that would be Honey lake that you were refering to. Too bad you didn't get your huge wins, but that's typical luck for most of us. Glad you had fun. I'm looking forward to seeing the Pep in the fall.

Ali, thanks for the TR. I, too. often go blank when I want to write. Time flies and the experiences multiply.
Glad you got to go. Wish we could meet up sometime.
I always have fun but, mostly, always lose also.

You had some great experiences so just be grateful and thankful (as I'm sure you are) for the blessings.

Now, you are the Pep expert since you were there last.

BTW, everyone, what is the "hamster" machine. I assume that is an acronym or whatever.

I still get NOTHING comped when I go except the obligatory room. Yet, Ifeel that I play and LOSE a lot of money.
guess it's all relative.

Later,

We all will have to meet up one of these times. Definetley! If you can drag me away form the slots. I even only put a $20.00 in my fav slot of all time, Pinball. What was i thinking???

See inorder to get everything comped, you gotta have a good connection, or let people spank you! Smile Ok, i know enough with the spanking comments. Hey i can't help it.

The hamster slot i never found. If i knew the actual name of it, that might have helped me find it. Instead all i knew was it was a hampster with x's as eyes. It will be the mission of the next person to hit the Peppermill to find it. Maybe we should send John?

Hi Jerry,

The "hamster" machine is a new one. It's called "Super Happy Fortune Cat." I was just at the Pep a couple of weeks ago, and had a blast on it! (My trip report is called "Reno/Tahoe/Mammoth Lakes July 19-23"). There is a detailed explanation of the game there but in a nutshell, it's a multiline penny game that's about $3 a spin max bet. There's a cat, one that resembles HelloKitty (or whoever that cat is that's way popular in Japan?) and the game has a bonus feature where the cat appears on every reel position on all paylines and reels 1-4. He starts running and every position he's on acts as a Wild. So literally, all the reels except the last one can be covered by the cat (which acts as a Wild symbol) and the credits can really rack up. His friend is "The Good Luck Hamster" but the poor little soul looks dead...his eyes are X's! Come to think of it, I think the cat's eyes are X's too. But he'll appear at random alongside the cat which triggers another bonus feature within the main bonus feature.

I was so drunk that I was laughing at it more than playing it but I came out WAY ahead on it. At the Pep, there are two of them in the multiliner area around the Oceano, between there and the Flamingo bar. Somebody will always be on it, so look carefully! It' a big picture of the cat on the top bubble glass and the little dead hamster is alongside of him. It's a riot! I just looked on IGT's website and it's there in the listings but unfortunately there aren't any pictures of it yet...if I get any more info I'll pass it on to you all.

Glad to see you are having fun on your trip in CA, try to make it to Reno if you can!

Kevin - rib cook-off? You should check out my friend's "Jack Daniels Ribs" recipe in my recent trip report...you'll get LAST place if you're lucky ahahahah

talk to you all soon,
floridagambler
