Friday, November 3
Check in Peppermill with our Host, Maggie. What a great woman. We had 2 free nights and 3 comped nights. We were originally put on the 4th floor. Gary wanted a view of the mountains. Maggie asked if we would rather have a view of downtown. Gary said no, he liked the mountains. WRONG Choice. We were on the construction side (Maggie knew what she was doing when she asked view of downtown.) Every morning we heard the trucks backing up (beep beep beep) and the jack hammers. Feb. will be the beautiful view of downtown. Construction is coming along nicely. All the casino play will stay in the main structure. The new addition will feature Tuscan theme suites, a restaurant, and bar. Romanza will be moved and that space will expand the Island Buffet. The Sports Book area will be enlarged.

Down to play. Slots and video poker at the cube bar. Our favorite bartenders were working, Gavin, Ricky (makes a great martini) Steve, Jeff, Hector. Gary cashed in his winning Steelers super bowl tickets $160. and didn't see Dennis (another bartender) at the sports bar.

Saturday, November 4
Gary did very well on Larry the Lobster, Cleo, Mystical Mermaid. We haven’t gotten into the .90 video reel slot machines that are popping up everywhere in the casino. Must be big money makers for the number of older themed video slots being replaced with these reel slots. I play Deuce’s Wild video poker. Hit numerous royals with the deuce on Saturday. These wins kept us afloat. Good meal at the Coffee Shop. I saw a woman win $1250 on a quarter slot machine. She didn't have a players card, or drivers license or social security card to claim the win and receive a W2G tax statement. I think she was an illegal alien. What happens then to the prize? I don't know.

Sunday, November 5
Registered for the Veterans Day Red White and Blue Slot Tournament. First round was good for Gary and me. Again I played a lot video poker. Gary was doing well with his favorite slots. Lunch at Oceano. Had fish tacos, just because I have never had them. I love fish but a taco shell and fish don’t cut it for me. Went to the Cabaret, good band. One customer was having too good a time, distracting the band and the players. He was singing too loud and dancing all around the band members. Much to the relief of the band and customers, next set the suits came to escort him out of the bar area.

Monday, November 6
Round 2 and 3 of the slot tournament. My score was fair, mid range. Gary was on the high end and knew he would win something. Champagne and cake reception for the tournament players. I came in 44th for $100 and Gary came in 7th for $250. Later, Gary hit for a Natural Royal and 5 of a kind at the cube bar. Wonderful! Went to High Stakes area to play with the Pepp’s promotion free money. Gary hit a bonus on Larry the Lobster .50 machine. Bonus paid $300. Way too much fun. Again, too little sleep.

Tuesday, Novmeber 7
Sleeping later everyday. Our friend Mary who plays Black Jack talked me into playing with her. I did quite well and ended up $75 ahead. Love the single deck pitch game. Gary and our friend Dennis headed to Atlantis to keep our Atlantis cards current. We had dinner at the Steak House. Another great meal. I went all out and drank a $15 glass of wine.

Wednesday, November 8
Time to go home. Body said it is time to go! Checked out, much to our delight everything was comped except $66. (Tips, taxes and one meal). We were able to deposit most of gambling allotment back in the bank.

Only downside. Flight from Reno to Raleigh NC takes way too long. Got to move closer (heehee)

Friday, November 10
Maggie our host calls us at home. She was reviewing our play and laughed saying we had played 90.5 hours in five days. Our next trip is taken care of. "We are very good players." Yes, we are. North Carolina just got the lottery for pete’s sake. Only casino is in Cherokee which is 6 hrs away and has very poor play (roll and lock bingo) and no real tables. Any where else is a long day's drive or a flight.

Next trip – Feb.

Sorry so long

Sharon and Gary

great report and it sounds like you are really tuned in to the Peppermill, can't wait for my upcoming trip in Jan. And congrats on finally getting the lottery in NC, that's where I'm originally from (first Greenville, then Wilmington, and alot of time in the Raleigh/Durham area). My parents are still in Greenville and are jumping for joy about that lottery! They usually just go to Atlantic City & Delaware had have never had luck in Cherokee either.

Yes, excellent trip-reporting, and we thank you.

I couldn't agree with you more about fish and tacos; they just don't go together!

Yes Stan

I'm a Catholic Girl! Growing up on no meat Fridays fried salmon patties were very much part of the diet. Hated them then, hate them now!
