Yeehaww ... we made it to Reno !!

It's our annual anniversary trip .. every October we go to Reno.

Flew out of Portland on the 16th of Oct at about noon .. arrived in Reno about 1:30. Decent flight ... a little bumpy for the last 10 minutes but since I knew terra firma was coming right up it was okay !

We stayed at the El Dorado .. love it there and have always had an excellent experience there.

Got to our room and unpacked .. then off to play.

Had to swipe our card for Treasures of the El Dorado before playing so got that out of the way and found lots of new machines since last year's visit.

Lots of bonus play machines in the penny, nickel and quarter that were fun to play.

Found a great cocktail waitress who kept our whistles really wet and I swear she was like the good luck fairy. Within an hour we were already up by about 200.00 playing triple 7's.

Hubby loves to play Caveman Keno .. he walked away with close to $90 after putting in $5 so that was great.

Had dinner at the buffet .. waaaayyyy too much food for any human being but ya just have to try anyway !

After dinner we wandered down to the Silver Legacy. Stayed for about an hour .. spent about $40 and left with $219 .. so that was a good stop.

I love those video poker machines ... 50 play works for me.

Next day we rented a car and went to Virginia City .. hubby had never been before so it was a blast and a half. I think he thought it was going to be like Reno .. NOT ! Did all the tourist things .. ate at some sandwich shop ... played a few machines and got hosed but it's more about fun anyway.

After spending the day there we drove to Sparks and hit a few places there .. no big wins .. just lots of fun.

And now I know why they call it Sparks .. every time I touched something I got a shock !!

Returned the car and went back to El Dorado and grabbed breakfast for dinner at Tivoli Garden.

Played downstairs for a while .. nothing significant other than his Caveman Keno ... $62.50 this time.

Called it a night ... next morning headed out and things are beginning to blur for me now.

I can tell you that we hit all the casinos downtown .. spent a fair amount of time at the Sands and Cal Neva.

Had the awful awful urge for the burger but somehow ended up back at Legacy and eating at Sweetwater. We did have the awful awful last year and honestly, I think I am still full from that !

We went to Atlantis and Peppermill .. did pretty good there. Walked away with + 160 from both combined.

We left Friday morning but not before going back downstairs at El Dorado and playing ... he hit for $100 and I hit for $260 on penny slots.

We have a thing we do .. all the ticket out tickets go in my purse .. then into the safe until the last day when we cash them all in. At least that way we don't go home completely broke. This trip we cashed out $890 so we felt pretty good about that.

We were on a search for Silver Strikes and did exceptionally well with that ... see my post in Reno Comments under Silver Strikes.

The weather was gorgeous .. the people in general seemed happy .. there was no stress and all fun .. it was a great trip and we can't wait to go again next year. We left with a little pocket change, a full belly a bit of a hangover and lots of great memories .. can't wait for the next trip !

That's just what we all like to hear. Congrats on a successful trip; those of us who can't make it live vicariously through your slot-pulling, whisky-slugging experiences.

Good to hear you had so much fun and left with most of my money. Great job on the silver strikes. I knew the Pep had one, but didn't know where they hid it this time. Don't forget to add that $350 in strikes to your winnings total.

"live vicariously thru others' slot play"

Well, Stan, you are living highly vicariously right now cause I'm in town and doing a large bit of both those things you mentioned.

wish you were here.

Right now I am wearing a blonde afro that is at least 18" in diameter. The girls think it's very sexy. Happy Halloween.

Thanks for hoisting one (or more) in my honor, Jerry. I lived vicariously through that one, too.
So in honor of your honor, I offer you today's Stanliloquism:

You know what kind of people *really* like to live vicariously?

Vicars!

Anyway, keep the slot-pulling, whiskey-slugging vicariousness going for us...after all, Spring training for softball will be here in a mere few months, no?[/i]
