Sorry missed Reno trip this month. 2nd week of october travel to south lake tahoe, stayed at embassey suite hotel, gambled at Harrahs, Harvey, Horizon and Ceasar casino. Winning: broke even, played this slot machine (2 cent) got the bonus round couple of times within 5 mins and won $212.00 was able to buy dinner for my wife and friend.
Drove up to North shore tahoe from south shore, missed the turn off and ended up in Carson city, no turn around on highway 50, got gas at Costco, and drove back up the mountain to North shore to meet friend. So i was kind of close to Reno.
This past couple of Days was in Las Vegas with a bunch of guys, Batting Zero with all the Restaurant we were suppose to eat at. My buddy knows some of the top Chefs at the major hotels in Vegas, they were all off on Tuesday, so we blame my other friend for it. The last time he came to Vegas, it rained and snowed. This 2nd trip for him, it rained when we landed in Vegas. Was suppose to have breakfast at this golf Resort, but it was closed for tournement play.
Drove over to MGM, we all kicked in $50 a piece to play this $1 slot machine. won our money back plus $80, that was our lunch money. That night went to see a show at Monte Carlos " Lance Burton " does magic show. was enjoyable. played machine later and lost. The next morning we drove back out to the same golf club for breakfast in Henderson, Crowded again, but was able to get a table, another tournament, sponsor by Playboy club, Yes, they were running around the club restaurant, bunnies and all. Evening time dinner at Wynn hotel, ate at Wing Lei Restaurant, the chef greeted us at the table, because his teacher was with us also. very good, Price was right. we were invited to see a show that night also " Le Reve " was a good show, but a little too long, my butt was hurting me for sitting too long.
This trip to vegas was not good for gambling for me, otherwise eating and shows was good for me. Back to Vegas next year in Feb. wife wants to celebrate her big 5 0.
Sorry for the delayed trip report, but I was scared I would do something drastic to myself if I even thought about how much money I lost on this trip! If you guys are going to win it back you'd better take a truck!
We drove down from the Seattle area, took I-5 South to Mt Shasta and then headed over #89 and dropped down through Susanville. What a beautiful drive! We checked into the Sands for our three complimentary nights and then spent the next couple of days loosing our shorts everywhere we went.We played at the Peppermill the most but also played the Sands,Circus and Atlantis but the resounding theme everywhere we went seemed to be lose, lose and then lose some more.
We went through three-day gambling budget in about half of that time,it doesn't do much good to set limits if you don't abide by them, but oh well...that was our fault and nobody elses. The only way I could slow my losing down was to hit the VP machines, they seemed to be satisfied taking my money at a slower rate than the slots.
The Sands was o.k other than the noise,I thought maybe we could get away from the late night train noise by staying on the upper floors but found out otherwise. It will sure be nice when they get the tunnel done.Right at daylight the construction on the tunnel and another construction site between the Sands and the Circus started up,would have been nice to be able to sleep past 6:00 am but those stinking back-up alarms on the construction equipment wouldn't allow it.
I did notice that there were quite a few more shady looking characters playing at the Sands than anywhere else, but maybe they were thinking that about me too I took the advice and didn't walk the local streets in tha area at night, while driving back to the hotel you would pass little clumps of undesireables on the street corners and in the alleyways.
The 100$ free slot play at the Peppermill worked just as promised,if you signed up for a players card you could play for one hour and then come back to the desk and they would give your card up to 100$ of playing credit.I still think the Pep was the most fun to play (er..lose) at.
One thing I was surprised about was the difficulty in obtaining money in Reno.We hadn't brought much cash with us and called ahead and asked the Sands if they would cash checks for us,they assured us they would, but when the time came for that they set a limit of 100$ per day, that doesn't go too far for two people. We don't use ATM machines so we were also surprised on that one...only two hundred bucks per day, should have been enough but not when your on a losing streak.
We did find that the Circus would cash checks up to two thousand dollars for us,no we didn't go that high, but it confused me that the casinos policies differed that much.
We did get to see the Hot-air balloons, they were supposed to be gone but got delayed by weather, and we also took a side trip over to Tahoe, played a bit at Harvey's and a little place across the street,I think it was called Billies. You had to wait for a hand pay on every machine there, didn't care for that much.I really liked the drive through Carson City and over to Tahoe, would like to do that trip again, maybe when Tahoe was having some kind of event or something.
Well, wish I had a better report, but you win some and then ...... oh well, maybe better luck next time!
