This was my second and final Reno trip of 2019. Flew out of Seattle on the morning of Saturday, November 2 at 9:00 a.m. After my last 2 flights out of Sea-Tac I nearly missed my flights because of incredibly long security lines. I fly at least a few times a year (including to places other than Reno if you can believe it – ha ha!) and decided to finally apply for TSA pre-check. I’m livin’ the good life now with TSA pre-check! No more worries about potentially missing my flights. Less than 5 minutes to get through security and didn’t have to take off my shoes or my jacket. Aaahhh.

We have lift off!

I don’t recall ever flying this close to Mount Rainier before. We were so close you could see the cracks in the snow and ice! Is that cool or what?

An hour and 14 minutes later I landed in Reno. Naturally I had just missed the shuttle and had to wait nearly 30 minutes for the next one. I really miss the separate, dedicated hotel shuttles. Now they just run "The Row" shuttle doing a continuous loop between the Reno airport, Silver Legacy, Eldorado and Circus Circus. Sometimes one shuttle is running, sometimes two. And the tracker is definitely not reliable. So basically you just stand around and wait for one to show up. Ugh!

I had 3 comped nights at SL in a Vista category room. A “what” room, you ask? As many of you know, I love the “Panoramic” rooms at the end of the hall with 2 windows, each facing a different direction. Well, SL decided to change the names of some of their room categories I guess to spice things up after all these room remodels they are doing. So the category fka Panoramic is now Vista.

View from Room 2875.

I always start my trip in the casino by walking around the entire casino looking for new machines. There were very few new ones this time around that were different from my last trip. Did a little uneventful gambling before lunch.

By Saturday afternoon I was starving as I hadn’t eaten anything since my early morning breakfast sandwich at Sea-Tac Airport. So off to Café Central. My first drink of the trip was a mimosa, along with a caesar salad and chicken strips for lunch. Yum!

Within a few hours of gambling at SL at after lunch, I am happy to report that after 25+ years of going to Reno, I FINALLY hit a jackpot worthy of an IRS reporting! One should maybe not be excited that the IRS is also going to partake in my Reno fun, but so be it! I was going to enjoy this moment! Hello, $1,317.00! The jackpot was on a slot machine I had never played before so honestly I didn’t really know what was happening at first – not familiar with the symbols, wilds, bonus rounds or anything. All I know is in a bonus round I got two different sets of symbols that each paid $600+. And the golden pigs in this photo obviously mean something good too!

Some pepperoni pizza from Hidden Pizza at Eldorado was calling my name for Saturday night dinner. I wish this place was open on Sundays and Mondays but it is not so Saturday is my only night for this delish pizza!

A very nice view from the room with a glass of wine capped off my Saturday night. Or should I say a nice view from the east facing window at least.

I really love the green that lights up SL at night, but I would prefer it not being directly outside my north facing window. Yikes! It was so bright. I had to close both layers of drapes each night.

I was in bed by 11:00 p.m. which I guess is early by Reno standards but I had been up since about 5:00 a.m. and had a full day of football ahead so time for some shut-eye. Goodnight, Reno.

How about a beautiful sunrise on Football Sunday?

Football galore today, baby! But first, some breakfast fuel at Café Central.

I parked it at the sports book in SL to watch football. All. Day. Long. Started off with mimosas in the morning.

The Seahawks made it very difficult but I did get to enjoy a hard fought overtime victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

You can order from Canter’s Deli (across the casino floor) right there from the sports book which is awesome. Don’t have to worry about losing your seats to go get food. So it was nice having lunch while watching football.

After 10 hours watching football it was time for a little gambling. After winning the jackpot the day before I guess I wasn’t allowed to win anything else as the machines were really tight Sunday night.

After a day of football and drinking, let’s get some carbs to soak up those drinks. I was happy to see that Café Central came to their senses and put spaghetti and meatballs back on their menu. Why it disappeared for 2 or 3 years is anyone’s guess.

Monday morning I relaxed in the room with some coffee and enjoyed the view.

After that it was time to treat myself to a deep tissue massage at the SL spa. I think I will make the massage a regular thing on future visits. So relaxing. And SL did a beautiful job on the spa remodel.

I wanted to eat lunch at El Jefe’s Cantina at CC but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. So I headed over to Millies at Eldorado.

Had an excellent BLT.

I had to treat myself to a dessert at Millies after lunch (and BC Dave’s dessert photos in his review were a factor in that decision as well). I’m someone who rarely orders desserts at restaurants but hey, I was on vacation.

This lemon zinger cake was delish.

My last day of gambling included some smaller wins.

Yes, even after 75 free games, only $42.95.

And plenty of these “almost” wins. Teases, as I like to call them.

Here it is Tuesday morning already. My time in Reno always goes so darn fast and it was time to head home. My ride home had arrived.

Had nice views all the way home. On the approach to Sea-Tac I had a great view of the 520 bridge.

Here is a nice shot of Boeing Field (and it’s always nice when the landing gear works on your plane too, yay!)

Thank you for another wonderful time, Reno. There is no such thing as having a bad time in Reno. See you again in 2020!

Thanks SeaHawkSiren for another outstanding trip report! I'm already missing Reno. I haven't even been home for a month yet, and you've made me miss the place even more. Congrats on the taxable win! My biggest ever was an even one thousand at the Peppermill, but still not taxable. Some great pics from your Vista Room. (Sorta an opposite 'mirror' image of my view from Harrah's). I like your pics from the plane's window too - I didn't see near as much as my flights were extremely early morning and well into the evening. Once again, thanks for the informative and entertaining report

I hear ya, BC Dave, I already miss Reno too and I've only been back home for 4 days. I wish I could go more than once or twice a year, but on the other hand, that's probably enough.

Yeah, the only other "big" win I got was many years ago at Circus Circus for around $1,100 so I was just under the IRS radar. Ha ha! But I remember shortly after that win I went back to Silver Legacy and hit about $600 within 30 minutes of the CC win. So I hit a total of $1,700 over two different hits (not taxable) within a short amount of time. That has never happened to me before other than that one time.

This was my first ever taxable win in Reno which I guess is kind of sad after 25+ years. But for me it's not just the gambling - everything else is so much fun too - watching sports, drinking, the food, the music, people watching, the spa, time enjoying the view from the room, I love all of it. I love the total escape from reality. And it's such a short flight from Seattle.

I enjoyed your review too and am glad that you, John, Charlie and Higgins got to catch up.

I am SO late to my nightly review of the VisitReno Message Board. It's been far tooooo long.

But what a great way to come back to another epic SeahawkSiren Trip Report! Photos and winnings and views, oh my!

I've only done the full day of football watching twice in Reno. Once at Peppermill and once at the Siena (R.I.P.). Both were great and filled with food and drinks.

Your room pix are always great! I always ask for at south facing view as I love the lights, the airport and the sunrise. Your sunrise pix are not only awesome but made me so sad as our annual trip was postponed due to a death in my family in January....and the reschedule could not happen because of...oh, what's that called? COVID-19. So, thanks for sharing those with me. Of note, my past two trips, I've ended up in 2934 and 2932. Good views!

I also love, love and love airplane photos and you WERE super close to the mountain! Love it.

Congrats on the big win. Whooooo hoooo!

Whoa, a Zydeco sighting! Where have you been? I wondered what happened to you. Good to see you back here, Zydeco!

Glad you enjoyed the trip report. Sorry your January trip got postponed, especially for such a sad reason. And your rescheduled trip too.

It's nice to see others appreciate the lights at night and the sunrises. I do sometimes get the west facing views of the mountains (gotta change things up once in awhile!) but always end up back requesting the east facing. Definitely my preference.

My next trip was going to be in May, but of course, that won't be happening now. I look forward to the next time I can write a trip report. At that time, it means life will have gotten back to some sense of normalcy.

Don't be a stranger.

My family and I were planning to pay Reno a visit, but due to the current pandemic, we had to cancel it. Nonetheless, we'll be going there once everything settles down.

By the way, just in case there aren't any car parts sale in Reno and anyone’s interested, my associate is selling a wheel and tire package. If anyone’s interested, feel free to PM me.
