What up! It's been a minute or two.

Back in 2014, we moved out of NorCal down to Sunny San Diego and haven't been back up this way since. But guess what? The Dog got a job back up in NorCal so we'll be back to our Reno trekking again!

Right now, I'm completely verklempt after discovering my favorite hotel comp is no mo'..... RIP Nevadan.

But hey! This is a good time to finally move forward with our dreams of getting Eldo comp rooms so wish us luck!

My comped weekends at Harrah's are still available so we booked in there. I may do a stay-with-no-play though to see what this new Row setup will give us.

I read back in the forums a bit and saw they finally combined up after MGM let them go.

How's comps there these days? Back in the day (ca 2009-2013), we never made it past 2nd level for SL and only got offered comped rooms like once or twice during the week. Never anything from Eldo that I remember and we only played CC during our first visit or two when we stayed there.

LILY !!!

There are a couple new things (even if I haven't been in a year or so).

1) Comps at Grand Sierra & Boomtown seem to now be easy to get and slow to lose.
2) Next door to The Little Nugget (Home of the now $ 9.50 Offal Offal) , Justin Siri, the Son of Jeff Siri (owner of Cal-Neva) has reopened the old Flamingo/Prima Donna under the name, "Siris" (with snack bar chicken & waffles) . HUGE beer choices the Dog would like.
3) Big changes in Virginia City with loss of all machines at Delta & Bonanza (subject to gaming board reversal). Great music at Red Dog still.
4) Remodel of rooms at Sands but same heavy smoke crowd.
5) No opinion yet on this "ROW" deal. But I did hit a fair sized progressive at the Silver Legacy Baron's Bar 2 years ago & am still getting ROW room offers. P Mill & Atlantis (played a LOT at Atlantis till they forgot about me. Two dollar bill shortage there now. Check at Silver Legacy Baron bar if you need $2 reloads.

Is the Dog still up to same old tricks? Running low on places to "visit" at work?

Keep in touch and post your visit dates early.... I'm getting tired of Indian Casinos here.

JD

Almost forgot: JP from Skyway Bar at Cal-Neva is gone and Cherie moved over to Siri's. Night bartender at Skyway Bar with Eastern European accent is member of our club. Say hi and pay your $2 club dues. Robert and all at at Baron's bar also. Buzz at Harrah's Jade Bar (nights) also in our club.

You forgot to mention that the Delta Saloon blew up REAL GOOD.

So, Lily... are you going to take those non-sexy, sexual photos in the back room of the few Reno flophouses that are left?

mjames:

I did not even know about it.... 2 weeks ago? I hear business has been way off not only because of winter, but when the new guy bought it & the Bonanza a few years ago, the new owner failed to get a timely liquor license AND it is my understanding never got his gaming license.

So they had to take out all of the machines last I heard they were still gone.

I used to read the Reno Gazette Journal maybe once/week but now if you click on a story maybe 5 times..,. you hit their pay wall and you don't get your five free looks for a month or so.

To top it off, the web cam is STILL not working most of the time. I tried checking out the Teste Fest on Saint Pats Day... same old, "Sorry we are having trouble with our web cam....".

YOU are now the official VC reporter... I even let my home delivery of the VC paper lapse.

http://www.ktvn.com/story/40112793/explosion-reported-at-virginia-city-restaurant2

I hate anything Scripps (my local paper is just as bad). But Twitter is my friend... that is where I heard about it.

https://thedeltasaloon.com/ has something posted....

A Special Note from the Owner of
The Historic Delta Saloon & Café
To Our Loyal Patrons and Friends,

As you may have heard, The Delta Saloon & Café suffered a catastrophic explosion that destroyed over a third of the entire building on March 12, 2019. The cause of this event is being investigated by several experts in the field.

By the Grace of God, one of our beloved team members was in the building during the explosion and escaped with minor physical injuries.

As the Owner and Steward of this incredible Building, the safety of our staff, customers, visitors and the whole of the Virginia City community is my first priority and will remain so during the reconstruction.

My apologies to the many good people that have upcoming events booked. Please contact our event coordinator so that she may re-accommodate you.

Just as we have had to endure so much unwarranted and unnecessary hardships these past years, I remain undaunted and steadfast and committed to this property and to Virginia City.

Rest assured that I will do everything possible to restore this Historic jewel back to its original grandeur so that it may retake its place as one of the most Historic buildings in one of the most Historic places in the Country.

A special thanks to Tina Perkins and her family of staff for always doing the right thing and caring so much for these properties and the community.

I extend my invitation to all of you to come and enjoy our sister property, The Bonanza Saloon & Café across the street. Come see Tina and her staff, enjoy the 100 Mile View from our deck and enjoy a Sarsaparilla. And yes, we saved the most Historic relics, The famous Suicide Table and The World’s Fair Globe which are proudly on display at The Bonanza.

I will keep you all informed on the progress of the restoration of The Delta. You may follow this progress on our website and other social media outlets.

Again, I appreciate all of your well wishes from around the world and am humbled by your support.

Take notice of our Baseball caps, proudly worn by staff and friends that say,

DELTA SALOON
COMING BACK STRONG
Best regards to all,
Vincent “Doc” Malfitano
