Well at one point I was way, way down. The last few days were a Godsend...and a curse. But I'm pretty pleased. Pretty sure I got more than that in comps.

15 days? Amazing that the net was only negative 1K. Next time bring some more deuce bills. You can keep track of how many drinks you have had by the number of tips you left...... sometime better not to know.

I can not imagine a 15 day trip for me. I would have been in critical care about 7 days earlier.

PostPosted: Nov Sun 20, 2016 6:23 pm    Post subject: My Yelp Review of Atlantis...a little LATE Reply with quote

Cut and pasted from my Yelp reviews: (any Yelpers out there?)

Atlantis:
ONE STAR

This review is for my Sept/Oct 2016 visit only.

My last 5 star review was from 2014 and was 4 stays ago so I recently sadly decided I have to update my review... and not in a good way. In fact, a BAD way. A very bad way.

Oh I still loved my room, had a good time at Tony's Oyster Bar, enjoyed Mellisa Dru at the Cabaret lounge, even sought out Big John the bartender at the Unicorn bar, and the giant Jack Daniels rib dinner/breakfast from Purple Parrot... all great. But that's NOT good enough.

BUT all the good things can be erased in a heartbeat when you catch them cheating, NOT in gaming, but the fast and loose, bait and switch of the Atlantis "Free Room Offers".

On this trip alone, the Atlantis Offered and withdrew 4 separate offers of a comped room. Well, not exactly "withdrew"....but made a ham handed attempt at a "Bait and Switch UPGRADE" attempt. I regret to say it worked....ONCE. and NEVER AGAIN.

I felt like I was at a time share condo "presentation".

I'd get an USPS or e mail "free room offer", then responded within an hour only to be told, "....that offer has been popular and is SOLD OUT. BUT we can upgrade you into a nicer room for an addition ($ 35, 30, $ 25 or eighteen dollars)

I've spent a lot of years in sales and I can smell when a new VP of Marketing has handed the poor reservation girls a new script. And this one STINKS.

MY OPINION.... If they'll cheat you out of $ 35 in a bait and switch room offer, ...how will they handle a $20,000 jackpot?

I am DONE with the Atlantis (sorry, Tony... you can keep my club card). I will NOT be visiting you again soon. AND your "Hosts" are completely worthless as well. I've given them over a month to respond and....crickets...dead silence.

Lucky for me, there are other casinos in Reno that keep their word. Atlantis is NOT one of them. Silver Legacy...wanna go get a cup of coffee? I love your perfume....what's that called?

Silver Legacy
Five Stars

So sorry this review is about a month late. But I promised some SL employees a Yelp "atta boy" and I would hate being called a flake.

Until recently, the Atlantis has been my "go to" favorite Reno casino for my three or four trips/year to Reno. But the repeated Atlantis screw ups is Silver Legacy's gain. Well, hitting a few big hands helps too. So maybe it's actually MY gain, not theirs.

I've found if a casino hires conscientious people, the business will follow. And SL has some of the best bartenders, cocktail waitresses, maintenance men, dealers, unseen hotel room house keepers and casino hosts. And all of those employees covered ME at various moments of MY bad judgement.

I have been a regular "tourist" to Reno/Virginia City for many years with usually 3 or 4 visits/year of longer duration as I've grown wiser. Recent visits have been approaching and exceeding two full weeks per visit which means I have stayed, played, eaten and consumed adult beverages at all of the Reno area casino/hotels.

And Silver Legacy is moving up on my list as my previous favorite casinos seem to be having a "rebuilding season".

Let us begin. I do not have an official "HOST" at SL. But last year, Mary did me a solid to help me acknowledge an engineering employee (George?) that went above and beyond in his maintenance duties. And a year later, Host, MARY saved me exactly $ 404 in a "MY BAD" mistake by getting the Slot Manager to fix MY MISTAKE. Kudos and thanks, MARY.

Secondly, my new favorite bar is the Silver Baron at the base of the mining machine. Jaime, Caesar, Robert, Larry and every bartender there remembers me....even when I haven't been down in six months. Great bartenders that make me feel like a long lost brother. AND that bar has some mighty fine entertainment.

So Mr. Carano, you've got a mighty fine crew working everywhere in your casino getting customers coming back. Please don't screw it up.

Oh...and you do make some mighty fine big reds. If you are a collector as well as an award winning vitner, I have some rare, old ('79 Sokol Blosser) Oregon Pinot Noir to return the favor. Ask Mary to call me.

And thanks for hosting the Italian Festival. That is my all time favorite Reno Street Festival, Well done.

Thanks JD, for the report, I'm with ya, SL or bust. they have great
Restaurants, Love the Sunday Brunch at Sterlings. the rest of the
week we do the top deck at Cal Neva. SL has a bunch of promos, going all the time. Their new Sports bar is outta site. Keno not so much, never won a dime there. They are close to the Brew Brothers, great food lunch or dinner. Rooms are very nice. Parking not so much, like parking in a cave!
They have all the machines and tables you could want. I even won last time.
But it all boils down to the offers ya get. Have fun.
