So I had "THE TALK" with a Silver Legacy Host. Nice as can be, BUT she actually said, "But we've lost money on you..." as she actually spun her computer around to show all the MINUS signs for every damn trip.

I say, "Every one of those minuses are MY PLUSES"...."Silver Legacy HATES WINNERS?"

Long and short...YES.

SL tracks "Average play/day". So when I'm doing the Virginia Street stroll (staying at a Casino that LOVES ME) stopping at the Baron bar and putting in twety or forty dollars, and after playing HARD for an hour or two, cashing out $300 actually works against the player.

Low daily bet AND winning DISQUALIFIES the player on their tracking system.

So after playing at the Baron Bar (Bartender Larry...long time deuces club member) I walked after dropping maybe 300 but that brought my cost/beer down to $ 100 each.

THEN I begin my V Street stroll.

First stop: Siri's , sight of a recent deadly shooting between two cooks.
"Where is the Prima Donna?" I ask the twenty something bartendress.

(Us old timers know THIS was the old Prima Donna)

But she's super nice about losing Reno Jeopardy....joins the $ 2 bill club.

Next stop: Harrah's. Buzz the bartender is Harrah's most senior employee.

We swap a few Old Reno stories...and he has more than me. - $ 100 or so.

On to Cal Neva....where I did a bad, bad thing.

Sounds like something my host told me (who actually moved over to Legacy, haha)
But it's true, MOST places care about THEO...but it's seeming like a lot of places in RENO care about ACTUAL. (very short-sighted)

Tim: Howdy....but what is THEO?

Alison: John did OK at the P Mill...I, however did NOT.

We could have saved time if I had just given him a couple of hundred and save the lllllooooonnnngggggg walk upstairs to the bar with the upside down glass flowers.

I preferred the pit cabaret bar and the bands they USED to have.

Up by the pool, they some obscure Spanish trio that each played a different song at the same time. Very European. Would never make American Bandstand.

Now...." I did a bad, bad thing...." I need a bass line...

I like to think I take care of the bartenders that take care of me.

But they seem to have been fired...at least JP (former ace bartender) at the Cal Neva Sky Way bar.

Young kid appears to be 19...but he does bring me a beer. He joins the two dollar bill club.

As intended, I AM the soberest player (maybe including the help) in the building. I really like the Cal Neva as it gives me a sense of really having my act together. I sense trouble...not with ME....but NEXT to me.

The double double bonus progressive is JUST UNDER $ 1200 ........

BAM.....No bells, no whistles, no "Keys to Sky Way Bar..."

And I am a little ashamed to say....I hit the "Caash out" button and quickly put in another $ 20 and kept playing....tuck ticket into shirt and did not say a word......

Ran THAT $ 20 up to $ 70.... same thing.

The 18 year old bartender is kinda ignoring me.....so I ignored him.

Then Vladimir comes back from his break...and I give HIM 5 dueces and another 5 for the kid without mentioning why. About ten minutes later someone says, "WHO HIT THE ROYAL?" And I say NOTHING. $ 1,197.53 ($ 2.47 more and it would have been a W-2 G) Whewwwww!

Now I feel bad....but I got over it quickly. I fear I may have pissed off the Karma Gods.

AND JOHN: The Awful Offal is now $ 9.50 plus tax. The Prime rib at Top Deck is $ 5.99 + tax. So I tipped the cook and dishwasher to ease my guilt trip.

I'm all better now. Checked in at GSR for comped two nights with 1/10th the play I give Silver Legacy.

It is now beer thirty...more later. Please don't rat me out at the Cal Neva...it'll be OUR little Secret.

theo is something only professional gamblers need worry about.
also, where's the pic of the royal?
too, SL doesn't have the tech infrastructure to support intelligent offers..if you don't log in to your Star Rewards account online, you'll never know what you've got.

Tim: If you know the late night crowd at the Cal Neva, you would understand WHY I was not too eager to make a big production out of hitting my royal. Had it been a bartender I KNEW & LIKED and looks out for ME.... might have been different.

But I AM NOT the only one that sometimes doesn't make a big production out of hitting a royal. NOT that the crowd at GSM today is the same unsavory characters at the Cal Neva. Even if they have been known to take cash from people.

Speaking of the GSM....nice of them to offer me a room.... especially since my play history is about 1/20th of the SL where I never get a room offer.

GSM has quite a ritual of multiple Credit Card info requests, initials on "If you smoke in a non smoking room....." contracts. It feels more like a real estate closing than checking into a hotel. "CHECK OUT TIME IS 11:00 AM. LATE CHECK OUT WILL INCUR A CHARGE'' "Initial, here, here, and HERE.....Sign your full name HERE, HERE and HERE.... And the bartenders are really laying down the law on buy ins and playing action to get a new drink. Must be a new VP upstairs.

It's a comped room. Next door is a COP convention. 700 cops from all around the U.S. In the elevator last night, my comment, "You shouldn't be driving the elevator if you might be impaired. This place is crawling with cops..." as I get laughs from the six drunk cops in the elevator.

Time for breakfast... more later on request.

Now John has a story to tell .......

I know the Cal-neva grave crowd very well, some friends are crap dealers on the grave crew.
still, any royal I get ALWAYS gets a photo.
also, what is GSM? isn't that a cell phone technology?
I know what GSR is...but GSM, no clue..

What's my favorite thing to do? Why, hijack JD's trip report, of course. I met up with him at GSR's sports bar, along with about 700 cops. Well one, who was sitting next to JD. He was a real blast (the cop, certainly not JD). The three of us entertained each other by swapping lies for maybe half an hour. I had a 2 for one buffet ticket and suggested we go eat, hoping JD would foot the bill. He reminded me I owed him an awful awful, and since they don't serve them at GSR, I got stuck with the buffet bill.

After wolfing down about 40 lbs of butter breaded shrimp we went to "Push The Button". That cost me about $50, which was later refunded by a Wolf Run machine. I had a few too many beers and decided to head home. On the way out I saw an unescorted and quite attractive 55 y.o. lady playing a poker machine, and had to sit next to her. After about 15 minutes of quiet playing, someone got my attention. It turned out to be the cop from the sports bar. We talked and joked around for at least 10 minutes. As he was leaving, I thanked him for job the police do. The 55 year old was evesdropping and fired up a conversation with me. Hey, an ancient hippie who jokes with the police can't be all bad, right? After talking for nearly an hour, I told her I was leaving and it was nice meeting her. She let me know she would be at the GSR for two more days. I'm tempted to go look for her tonight, but am afraid I might run into JD.

There was something else I was supposed to mention. Maybe if you beg and grovel, I'll tell you (sound familiar?). OK, here it is: $1k royal at the sports bar and I left with almost all of it.
