When Marlene used to live in that part of town, we ate at the coffee shop a few times. The service was great and the food was good. The waitresses were friendly and could take some teasing as well as give it back. We rarely played the slots because Marlene isn't much of a gambler.

I could NOT remember the name of that place. I'll have to check it out next trip. A little chilly last night, John? RGJ said 6 degrees overnight.

This a place I have never heard of. Back about 8 years ago, I was trying to visit every casino in Nevada. I covered a lot of territory, but never made it to Jackpot or Mesquite.......I decided it was just too much and gave up. However, I sure visited a lot of small little casinos in out of the way places.

Has anyone beside me visited the- Say When- casino in McDermitt?

Dang, I knew I was making the wrong choice when I drove past it at 8P or so one night in mid-October 2013, in a rush to get to Winners in Winnemucca! I could have gotten massive credibility in an internet thread!

I'm willing to take a little credit for staying at this one instead.

Shooty- you get the consolation prize for at least knowing where the Say When casino is located and driving by. I thought this was a mandatory pee stop for anyone traveling this route, but you must have a teflon balloon bladder.

I am not sure I would have the guts to stay at the Nevada Club in Ely, but I did stop in one time for lunch and a look around at all the stuffed animals and Western displays.

Winners in Winnemuca is a great place to stay. I have stayed there several times. They used to give out a great coupon book with a stay.

I've been to Say When....and won $ 120 there. I was exploring all the way back history places and wanted to drive thru Fields, OR . The trip was a little longer than I expected. Still for one hour I was the BEST customer in that casino at 8 am on a Wednesday morning.

But then there wasn't much completion. My next stop was the Model T in Winnemucca maybe a hundred miles away.

Now who's been to the Stockman or the Commercial in Elko?

I have stayed at the Model T a couple of times. The last time I was there they were adverting a big upcoming live rock band and show. They had booked Lynyrd Skynyrd.......no wait a minute is was Skynyrd Lynyrd.. I was trying to figure where they were going to have this concert and they said"Bring your own lawn chair". Very Happy

Yes, I have been to Stockman and the Commercial in Elko. I have been to them all in Elko. I think it was the Stockman that had that huge stuffed polar bear?

How about Tonopah? I have been to the 1 Banc Club and stayed at the Tonopah Station. When I checked in, they had three dice in a cage and if you could get all three with the same number your room was free. I have not been or stayed at the Mezpah as it was not open on my trip.

I have also been to them all in Hawthorne (stayed at the El Capitan) and the same with Yerington. I also stopped at a small casino in the town of Smith Valley. They said no comp'd beers at the bar as they "could not afford that"

spdmrcht- Was the Mickey Rooney room extra small? I wonder what he was doing in Ely......probably trying to hide out from ex-wife #6 or so.

Speaking of the Say When, one time while waiting for my wife in the restroom I threw in some quarters out of my pocket in a machine and hit a jackpot. I felt very guilty for winning money, when we just stoped for the restroom.

No it was a nice room, they had a bunch of celb. named rooms, they used to stay there when they were making movies in the area. Yah I have been to most of them also, used to make a loop Tonapah (the speed trap) Hawthone
Yerington, smith valley, Gabbs, silver springs, and end up in dayton or minden.

Nah.

It's been a long time, maybe 15 years. I even played live blackjack there, something I think they did away with quite a while ago, not sure. But it was fine for a single guy just passing through.

I agree, I like that place, and Winnemucca too, especially in the fall, I think rural Northern Nevada is spectacular.

Me. Spent one of the worst nights of my life there, as soon as I got into my room got a phone call about something going seriously sideways at work. Made that night no fun at all.

Shooty, your internet credibility was never in question, but you've certainly cemented it with those photos.

Ah, youth - wish I could do some of that state-level wandering, just to see little hole-in-the-wall casinos!
