So I gathered all my offers to find most of them have expired. I had a great GSR "any two nights" but it just went past the "best if used by" date. Maybe I'll get new ones in the mail BEFORE I leave, most likely the day AFTER I leave.

I get regular offers from Atlantis, Sands and a brand new one from BOOMTOWN. And I haven't played or stayed at Boomtown since they sold their two planes...and that has to be at least ten years. Peppermill is dead to me....or the other way around.

The problem (as always) is all of the restrictions and conditions. So I have my color coded spreadsheet in front of me and I'm just about ready to fuel up the bus and head outta town. It's been a rough year for me and I deserve lots of free rooms, cheap meals and my tolerance for free drinks is kinda slowing down.

Last year, I had great luck at Atlantis (as soon as John left) and the offer from the casino formerly known as Clarion publishes a calendar of free nights available. One condition Atlantis has is you are allowed (space permitting) two free nights....with a seven day interval...then another two free nights. But this card has a BIG hole in it. AND one of their offers overlaps the SUNDAY of Street Vibrations. So maybe yes, maybe no. And my Boomtown offer ends Sept 30.

And Sands always SAYS I can have most nights but it's always a hassle at the front desk. Sadly....no more freebies from the casino formerly known as Siena.

And I don't have any FREE nights at Eldo or Silver Legacy....I do have $76 in comps at Silver Legacy that I must use NLT Oct 10. WHICH just happens to be 1 year after I introduced John to "HIT THE BUTTON" craps game. I spent HOURS on that game last year and it looks like I got some comp points (that CAN be used towards a $ 119 room) on a Friday.
But I HATE spending $ 119 on any room.

But I have a fallback position. Remember that bus? "My name is Matt Foley, and I am a Motivational Speaker ... I am divorced.. and I live in a van down by the river!"

So while it looks like I have most weekday nights comped... a couple of weekends might be spent 'down by the river".

Now for those that have never experienced the Eldos "Italian Festival"... it is a HOOT. Last year they had two stages for music and food vendors both side of Virginia Street for three blocks or so.

So anyone that has some offers I can scam....drop me a note. Too bad most of them have "ID required" but I can try.

Oh....two other events....Yelp's "Booze School" UYE is booked at Atlantis 30 Sept and 3-4 OCT is Virginia City Outhouse Races. The Italian Festival is 10-11 OCT.

OK....so send money, send comps, send ideas, send John's phone number (I have a gift for Charlie and Higgins).

Who's the best Travel Report writer? (subscription required).

Oh....and I've been practicing Blackjack Online. Should be interesting.

Ah, JD, how you do keep the faith - we stand in awe at your ability to get the most out of our beloved city.

I'll certainly vote for you for "best trip report writer" - just tell me where to send your check, er, ah, I mean, my vote....

We eagerly anticipate more in your pre-, continuing, and post-trip reports!

Good luck on being Italian on the weekend. Speak like the Godfather and be sure to use your hands when talking.

Sorry I have no free rooms or anything else to give you other than wishing you good luck and have a great time.

So far your trip report is looking good. Keep the updates coming.

OK....so most of you know....I only keep my trip reports coming as long as I get encouraging comments.

No comments, end of report. I make the rules AND I enforce the rules.

THIS planned tttrip is a little less well planned than some earlier versions.
Because I have so few "free room offers".

But while that's BAD for me, it MIGHT result in a much more entertaining Trip report. And John has told me....that IS my job.

So unless I get some encouragement, NO MORE inside Reno stories.

And I have a feeling......this is going to be a great Trip report.

NOW since I have so few "offers"..... who wants to make a recommendation on WHERE to plop? And I should add.... I will be bringing money. More than on most previous trips .

No comments....no updates.

That's not "BLAME", John.
It's CREDIT.
So next time we go gambling....as soon as YOU go broke....I'm plying the $5 slots!

And I know you'll be busy with the "Street Vibes" Sept. 24-27 (My first "free" Atlantis night is Sunday, 27 Sep.

As I recall, as soon as you left, I hit a 50cent royal ($ 2,000) and a 4 OK on quarters . I have to look at last year's TR.

Ok...I have aa lot of catching up to do.
Stop me if you've heard this before.
So first night at Atlantis...John meets me for a coupl;e of those bait wrapped in seaweed at the Oyster Bar.
I LOVE that bar for a couple of reasons.
1. Great bartenders and a chance to meet a bunch of locals.
2. View of Reno and another chance to make a bar bet on where the Prima Donna OR Hill Brothers Motor Lodge used to be.
3. Comped chow, comped room,
4. Natural Royal on 25 cents x 10 credits= $ 2k
5. Even won $ 125 at KENO. (Which I usually play just to help out the Keno runners
6. John went broke and left early
7. Did I mention TONY the bartender & newest member of the $ 2 Bill Club. Brian at the Cabaret bar has a way to go before passing Tony.
8. And ONLY dropped about $ 400 on the second night but met a couple of locals that were a HOOT....fun crowd. I recommend it BUT STAY away from the highly addictive Muti Strike Poker
downstairs near the coffee & Muffin Shop.
------------------
I TRY call John to meet at Peppermill (Cube bar with Neil) but he does NOT answer his phone. And my ONE beer with Neil at the Cube Bar cost me $ 100. Well, $ 102 if count bar tax.

So I guess the 2 fer GSR Buffet is out of the question too?

AND when Sands sends you an E MAIL comp room offer....YOU MUST HAVE IT PRINTED OUT IN HAND at check in. The confirmation number means NOTHING.

I had to go get my computer and fire it up at the hotel front desk which kind of seemed unreasonable....but it is how they roll. And it is FREE... so far.

More to follow.

(Should I wait for John to call or use up some comp meal at the Copa?

I believe I will have a drink first.

----------end of 2014 trip report--------------------

THIS year I may have someone meet me on the Portland/Peppermill special charter 6-8 OCT .

So you doin Street Vibes again this year? I need to burn $ 76 in Silver Legacy comps or I loose them. You game for "HIT THE BUTTON ???"

I thought I gave you some positive feedback already. "So far your trip report is looking good. Keep the updates coming."

You know there is lodging available at non casino motels. You can usually get a room at one of the Motel 6's in Reno for about $50/night on the weekends. Check and see if they left the light on for you.

No matter what encouragement has been given before, it is clear that more is needed at every stage of the game - and while I'm not thrilled at the prospect of begging JD on bended knee for more details, that is what I'll do if that's what it takes.

So, JD - consider yourself further encouraged for the next post, and after that one, expect a commensurate quantity of more encouragement - I will gladly contribute to the necessary symbiosis.

Standing by....

* - quote from "The Simpsons", wherein a t.v. commercial for the lottery ends with this slogan; accompanying disclaimer text says, "Actual odds of winning, one in 380,000,000"

Did you hear about the new "Oregon Lottery" Million dollar prize game?

It PAYS one dollar a year....for a million years.
But you have to hold up that plywood check so all your "friends" think you fell into a bag of money.

Oh...and you need to pay the taxes on that "million dollars" right NOW.

Several years ago I hit 7 of 8 on a one dollar Oregon Keno card.
ANYWHERE in Nevada that would pay $ 1,500 cash with NO W-2G.

Oregon pays $ 600, you have to drive to Salem to collect a CHECK, AND they file a W-2 G and in Oregon....not enough to cheat you out of $ 900, but they want 10% of the $ 600 as well. My LAST Oregon Keno game Eva. And I even showed them the IRS publication that only requires KENO NET WINS of over $ 1,500 to get a W-2G.

"This game is NOT KENO. It is, "Oregon Lottery Keno".

I do play a 4 spot x 20 game card when I'm tryin to build up comps in Reno. Not like I plan on winning a big pot, but if the pit boss thinks you a such a gambling perv you have to play TWO games at the same time....they really don't want you to leave the property.

I've also had a lot of luck with asking a pit boss, "How is the Prime Rib dinner at that casino across the street?"

Boss: "Ours is MUCH BETTER!"
ME: "But we have a BOGO coupon for THEIRS"
Boss: " Here's a comp dinner on me...."

JD called me this morning to let me know he's too lazy...I mean busy to add to the report today and enlisted me to do it. Seems he won a pile of money at the Silver Legacy and is currently spreading it around Virginia City. This is called "distribution of wealth" or "Robin Hood Syndrome" or, in JD's case, "sindrome". I'm surprised he found a place to park, given there are about 48,357 motorcycles cruising the town (well, maybe 500 or so). I didn't get to Virginia City this weekend because I was chasing the International Bikini Team around Street Vibrations photographing them. This has nothing to do with JD's trip report, but I just had to let everyone know how cool I think I am.

The plan is for JD to come back to Reno tonight and we may go the Silver Legacy and burn up some of his comps. We may also "push the button...PUSH THE BUTTON". For those of you who don't know the meaning of that, you're missing out on a very interesting concept. Of course, JD has to be there to wake everyone up and get the party going.

That's my part, but remember if you want to hear more from JD, we all have to coax him ... Oh JD, if you add to your trip report, I won't slash your tires.

PostPosted: Sep Sun 27, 2015 4:09 pm    Post subject: BMWs & Harleys Do not mix Reply with quote

OK...The time is 5:01 pm Sunday and I am now safely ensconsed at the Atlantis and showered.

Before skipping around too much let's just say that crazy BMW driver that passed me while I was doing 70...then cut me off and hit his brakes....got his. Fatal and hardly slowed me up at all.

Neither did the Harley rider that lost his Hog on the UPHILL side of Geiger grade last night.

And my Silver Legacy money has been distributed along C Street in Virginia City. I have NEVER seen so many Harleys. It must be close to Sturgis because it's a bike fest. I saw one trike with a V-8 engine.

More later....gotta call John and burn up some comps.

By the way....I measure very carefully this time....via Susanville ....cuts 17 miles off. But a 10 minute waait at repaving construction kinda lost much of an advantage.

Now lets go make some money at the Oyster Bar.

JD's back in town! haha! Have an awesome trip JD and keep us posted. Although I never had much luck at the Atlantis until my final summer there, let it be known that its sister property, the Monarch, is located five steps across the street from the casino I'm now working at here in Black Hawk, and go figure they just started construction on the hotel tower...I guess that's what everyone's Reno bankrolls contributed to! haha Remember, don't forget to slide your card at the kiosk on promotion days to avoid any missed opportunities for free wine and glow-in-the-dark bottles of vodka like the case was when we were playing there a couple of summers ago (I'm STILL ticked off that I missed out by a mere point or two!)

Have fun and win big!

I'm, MUCH better now... Thanks for asking.

And I have updates on the inside of the Siena, who has replaced ALL of their player club cards and who allows comp points to be rolled over and who purges them and when (IF you believe them).

But ya gotta ask.

Now I'm going downstairs and get a California Roll.

Tomorrow two free nights at Boomtown.

More later...maybe.
