There'll probably still be plenty on the mountain tops - I can see it from the downtown even in summer!

It's quite a sight, and you'll enjoy it. Oh, and good luck!!!

The casinos are much better in my opinion in reno then in S tahoe. The drive from Reno to Tahoe is about an hour or so, depending on conditions. What do you want to know about the casinos in Reno? I have been to reno numerous times and visited almost all the casinos.

The casino's in Reno are way more generous. When I go to gamble, I go to Reno. When I go to sightsee I go to Tahoe. If you've never been to Tahoe it is definately worth the trip. Matter of fact I will be spending my tenth wedding anniversary in Tahoe this April. It seems only fitting since we got married at Harvey's. Either place you go you'll have a great time.

I would say Reno to S. Lake, is more like an 1 1/2 hours, unless your driving fast.

What are your plans while you're there?

As far as casinos, it's not like Vegas where there are different themed casinos and things to see. Most of them are your normal hotel/casino.

I think you should rent a car and take the drive from Reno to S. Lake Tahoe via the Mt. Rose Highway. It's so beautiful and scenic. I would think there would be a lot of snow at the beginning of April They're getting hit w/some major storms right now.

I do not like So Lake Tahoe AT ALL...
It is ugly and depressing except for the Lake. And how long can you look at the lake when you go to a gambling mecca.
The gambling is lousy there, the food is expensive, etc., ad infinitum.
We have a much prettier, bluer, deeper lake in Oregon - Crater Lake. It is the most beautiful and bluest lake in the US, maybe in the World. It is nestled in a volcanic bowl. That is only 30 minutes further for me than is Lake Tahoe from Reno.

To each his own.

You haven't said where you will be staying (or I missed it!), or what you want out of your trip. As most have said, gambling conditions are very fair and favorable in most of the casinos, I'm talking table games, not slots, as we all know the slots are the devil (which doesn't keep me from playing them).

The casinos vary in customer service, food and style, so just make your rounds and find your style, it's not that big. As Jerry said, Tahoe is all about the lake, the gambling/service conditions, not so much, more a scenic trip than gambling.

As for food, you'll have to look for your specials. Cal-Neva's upper deck has the best prices going, fair service and value for your money. They have a breakfast special with all kinds of meat, eggs, hb, tst AND pancakes, for like $2.99 24/7. The Oyster bar at the Silver Legacy has a pan roast (seafood stew) on happy hour special for $12.99 that is made to order and heavily. Make sure you go by the Brew Brother's Brewery for a beer before dinner, they also have a happy hour, and you can time picking up your beer and carrying it into the Oyster bar as they can't match these great beers. (This is a perfectly acceptable practice in a casino).

Walk around the river area by the Siena casino, it's nice. Most of the casinos have caberets with lounge acts that are pretty entertaining. Check out the main board here for more info.

Check with each of the casino's players club/booths. They offer tournaments, promos and meal specials for first time sign-ups.

Circus is fine, it actually was my hotel of choice until recently. The rooms are large, fine housekeeping (not great), and they look nice. They use to have coffee makers and real bathroom rugs, but that changed last year. The sky tower rooms are the same as the main tower, the only difference is geography for your $10 upgrade nightly.

I can't suggest any food there, but the buffet is certainly better than the buffet at their Vegas property, the whole hotel is, for that matter. I believe if you earn 50 points during the week on your player card, they give you a buffet, so maybe try it free!

Since Circus is connected to Silver Legacy (1/2 owner) which is connected to the El Dorado (the other 1/2 owner), with skywalks, you can play at 3 casinos without going outside. This upstairs area is where you'll find the Brew Brothers Brew Pub and the Oyster Bar (Fairchild's). Go outside a few steps and walk into Fitzgeralds. This is my favorite place to play. The cocktail service is outstanding, the pay-off's as good as anyone and it's small enough to take folks and not lose each other. Molly's restaurant is okay. Their pub and grill is very good.

Technically, that would be a non-Reno-related slideshow, but I'll give you credit for following up!
