This is really strange to me never heard of it happening before to anyone. I search a hotel search engine and it tells me the hotel web site has the best deal. So, I search the hotel's site and it gives me a better price than was listed by the search engine. Now I'm beginning to question the prices on the hotel search engine.

I did a fair bit of browsing before this last trip. It seems that I always get the best deal by purchasing right from the Airlines website and clicking on Air and Hotel packages.

I always look at hotel sites (expedia, hotels.com, Kayak) and then when I see the best price I head to the hotel website. Without fail….my last 5 trips the prices were the same or lower on the actual hotel's website! Further, without a service charge like some sites require. I call the hotel directly and let them know what I found with other sites and I always get the same or a lower price than quoted on a 3rd party booker.

Finally, when I am checking in, it is amazing how many issues people have when trying to check in with a 3rd party booking engine. The front desk always is telling them, "These are the Expedia rooms, sorry".

I like to review 3rd party, review hotel, call a human, make my reservation in person, and keep the business local. I've never had a problem, always paid a fair price, and enjoy gabbing with the hard working folks on the other line.

Ignoring the price, it is always a better idea to book directly with a hotel/casino for these reasons.
1. The cancellation policy is usually much better with a direct booking. If you book with a third party there can be cancellation fees.
2. If you gamble and earn comps you can use them for the room rate. The casino is unable to to apply the comps to a third party billing.
3. Some casinos will give you comp points for booking directly with them. Not possible with a third party.
4. If there is a screw up you have to deal with your third party as the hotel/casino is unable to deviate from what the third party booked. This does not always work out too well. If you book with the hotel/casino directly it can be a lot easier to work out a solution.

I agree 110% with Ca. when you go to the hotels web page check all of
there offers, you may get one that's a few $ more but has a meal or
show offer with it. If its the first time at a casino you may get a sign up
bonus with a new card. It pays to shop.
