Over the years, I've collected quite a collection of players cards. Some from casinos that died years ago, and some as the same casino rotated ownership and/or the tracking program.

I think The Sands has rotated thru more cards than any other. "Beach Club", "Terrible's", "A Play" and "My Party". And I never much cared for the careless way they required your personal info and even at one time snapped a photo whenever you went to their booth. And I do what I can to confuse all such data bases...sometimes successfully.

Well, the Sands dumped "A Play" a few years ago, but Rail City began using that card which is both good and bad. Nice that my points transferred....The cheap eats are a deal at times....BUT:

So imagine my shock when "A PLay" has invited me to register (since they already seem to have name, rank, horsepower, SSAN, DOB, employer, E MAIL ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER (that would explain those robo calls), blood type and a list of my dumbest bets and the drinks it took before I made them.

Register for WHAT?

On Line Sports Book betting.

SURE ! No reason why I shouldn't give my CREDIT CARD info too!! Now that I think about it, the SANDS always required my credit card to reserve even a fully comped room. ("So you need my cc in case I don't show up, you can charge me? But If I show up you will NOT?")

So who should I be pissed off at for pimping my info?

I have an A Play card, but got it from the Primm casinos at state line.
Haven't got any offer from them in a while, I did stay
at The Sands, ONCE!

I have that silly "Beach Club" card, too - and while I prefer to confuse databases, it's understandable that they might want to know your contact information so as to pester you further with advertising...

Look at it this way: it's something like the old "junket" model, whereby you got free transportation, free food, and possibly other stuff, but you were expected to spend pretty substantial time and dough in the casino - it was a tradeoff, and all they've done here is find a way to extend the concept to the less-than-whale-size-rollers.

But demanding a credit card for a comped room? You should just be pissed off at the Sands, and what else is new??

And I believe the proper question is "WHOM should I be pissed off at?", but I'll let it slide this time...
