Greetings...

Hubby and I are booked at the El Do arriving 12/17 and leaving 12/24. We would like to spend maybe 2 days in Lake Tahoe.

Need help with the following:

Shuttle from reno to Lake Tahoe and back. Prefer to have hotel pickup but would return to the airport if that's our only option.

Resort in Tahoe for $100/night or so if that's possible. Maybe a lodge or cabin type thing? Trying to limit our gambling losses so a casino property would be our second choice. Recommendations? We don't ski so we don't need that info, but the dog sled thing looked cool. Anything else that we must-do while there?

Thanks...lauren

It sounds like your trip is planned after Christmas? Just so you know, the week after Christmas to New Years is the busiest time of the year (along with July 4) at Lake Tahoe. It will be crowded. If you plan on using the shuttle, you will have to find a place to stay near the Stateline area as that is the drop off area. There are a number of Mom and Pop type places near the casinos that might have lodging in your price range.

The dog sled rides are not near the South Lake Tahoe area as far as I know. I believe there is one at Squaw Valley, and I see the one in Hope Valley all the time. You will need to drive yourself to get to the dog sled area.

At the Stateline area they have sleigh rides and you can rent snowmobiles. The lake tours are running all year, and they provide transportation from the casino area.

You might consider a trip to Lake Tahoe just before Christmas? It will be quieter then and easier to find cheaper lodging.

We intend to visit Tahoe sometime during our reno week. We are from tx, so this is it for the year. We normally go for burning man but have missed the last 2 years due to hubby's school!

So, based on the pre Santa visit, any more recommendations on where to stay?

Thanks...Lauren who never sees snow hardly ever

Just a thought? call an eldo, host and ask the same questions, you
might be surprised? They have a lot of connections, and know
how to make people happy, and not just at the Eldo?
