I spent some time with JD and MammothGambler at GSR last week, and did OK on the slots. Yesterday my inbox contained the following email from GSR:

"Dear John,

Thank you for visiting the Grand Sierra Resort. I hope that your experience was enjoyable, and you will visit us again soon.

We are continually striving to ensure that we meet the expectations of our customers. As a valued customer, I would appreciate your feedback concerning your visit to our property.

Your completed survey will automatically qualify you for a monthly drawing for a two night stay at the Grand Sierra Resort.

Thank you for taking the time to provide me with your feedback. We, at the Grand Sierra Resort, look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to Reno." [Emphasis mine.]

Their database shows that I'm a Reno resident, but is apparently broken. Now I'm wondering if I've been excluded for the $5 "locals special" lunch buffet, which is a really great deal.

And in MY inbox:

-----------------------------------------
Dear J. D. ,

Thank you for your recent visit to the Sands Regency Casino Hotel.

Your feedback is important in helping us maintain the levels of service, satisfaction, and recognition you deserve from the Sands Regency. We would appreciate you sharing your experiences with us by completing a guest satisfaction survey. As a thank you for participating, you will be entered into a drawing to win a two-night stay!

By providing your opinions, we will have the opportunity to enhance our service to make your future visits even more enjoyable.

We look forward to seeing you again soon at the Sands Regency Casino Hotel!

Take Survey

Sincerely,

Rob Medeiros
General Manager
------------------------------------

Dear Rob:

You clearly never read my LAST survey so I don't think I'll take the time to discuss your failure to honor your coupons again.

Hi guys, I was just about to start a new thread about the GSR, until I saw this. Yes, I get these emails from them everyday! I even took it upon myself to fill out the survey and say a bunch of swear words just to see if their database is actually real! Apparently, it's not...maybe that's why they're looking for a database manager (again!)

So, as some of you know, I'm making plans to relocate back east due to the absence of a full-time job around here, but, I thought everyone would find this interesting. I kid you not, this really has happened to me over the past week!

I've been contacted by four different recruiting firms over the past week, with about three different open positions. Keep in mind that one of these firms is even located in Seattle, Washington - an indication that their said client is going to drastic extremes trying to hire people - and that all of these people contacted me, and not the other way around.

Guess who they're all recruiting for?

YUP! THE GSR! THE CESSPOOL ON SECOND STREET!

I just had a very laughable conversation with a recruiter in Seattle. I even explained to him that I had just been contacted two days previous by a few other recruiters here in town, regarding the same position and a couple of others. Not to mention the revolving door atmosphere, the terrible customer service, and everything else. Jeez, the graphic design position I applied for back in February is already open again - what a blessing in disguise it didn't happen! I think I kinda scared this dude a bit, but then again, he asked for a local inside opinion of the place, and sure as hell got it!

At least JD scored the awesome room upgrade on his recent visit. I'll at least give them that!

Oh, and go figure, they took out 4 more dollar Blazing Sevens machines...

...and speaking of the Cesspool on 2nd Street, I just happened to notice this disclaimer at the bottom of their website's employment section:

Jeez. Maybe THAT'S what their problem is!

Now THAT'S funny.

Maybe a negative test is not what they're looking for.

AND my upgrade was only because they screwed up the first time.

I thought you'd be on the road by now, Mammoth. Still lookin?

Any jackpots recently?

Fascinating times. "Dope smokers welcome! Other drugs are considered 'uncool' for purposes of employment"

They don't know how to spell, either! And, the technical terminology for a dog that's not allowed somewhere is usually referred to as a "Breed Restriction," not an "Aggressive Pet Breed." I know "aggressive pet breeds" that are Poodles, Dachshunds, Pomeranians, and Chihuahuas. But that's just me, and my mean ass German SHEPHERD, who happens to be friends with a few ROTTWEILERS! Cool Cool Cool
