Siena Reno had up their ante:

FIRST $500 ON US + INSTANT UPGRADE!

New Siena Rewards club members can receive up to $500 in Free Play based on their first 24 hours of slot play! Plus, Siena Rewards club will instantly upgrade you to any other Reno casino player’s club card status you have earned.

Too bad I already took advantage of their offer when they offer loss up to $200.

Yes, dannta, I saw they have a really big sign on their building promoting that offer. I signed up just after they opened and got the upgrade and $100 in comps. Not sure I'd be willing to risk $500 on the new offer.

Too bad I can no longer get a free book of matches from them now.

ME... the former biggest pimp for Siena... let me re phrase that.

ME... the biggest pimp for Siena... no...

ME... a regular pimp for Siena. now getting the, "Ya, but what have you dome for us LATELY?"

I always wonder why some places (not just casinos) try so much harder to get NEW customers, than trying to keep their OLD customers (that doesn't quite sound right, either).

Chalk that up to the "Marketing" industry - a few suits (or skirts) come in, talk about the need to "shake things up" and do things "a whole different way", and throw around buzzwords - make up a totally "new" campaign, leaving existing clientele out to dry - a year later, when all these excitingly regurgitated "new" ideas have had time to kick in, those same marketing people are long gone to their next gig, where they'll no doubt bring some other established business to the poorhouse.

Wheel in the sky really does keep turnin'....

I am reminded of the final few months of the Comstock where I was an established rated player.

Their theme was always "Western" and they allowed employees a great deal of leeway in their dress. As things went down hill, I came in on one visit and the Wesern wear was OUT.

"Green lame vests..." is what some consultant sold them along with his fee.

Next was the dazzle lights.

Next was turning the dazzle lights (and ALL of the lights) out.

"Condos...THAT'S the future...." said the NEXT consultant.

RIP Comstock.

"FIRST $500 ON US + INSTANT UPGRADE! "

As usual the promotion is big on promises and short (or non existent) on details. I went to the website and all they say is see the slot club. Well, I think I might (?) be eligible for this one as I never pulled the trigger on the $200 deal. I got a Siena card within the first 6 months of their opening and have not used it in 6 years or so.

Maybe I will wait for the $1,000 deal next year. Very Happy

How does this deal work? If or should I say when you lose up to $500 in 24hrs do they return your monies in free slot play to be used right away or do you gotta wait 6 months? I think it was mjames who said his mother in law was going to take advantage of the offer when it was $200 but won money instead, could have that wrong though. Anyone know?

The $200 promo worked like this:

Lose $200 on day one, get $100 free play on day two and and another $100 on day three. So you have to be in town 3 consecutive days to take full advantage of this offer. The new promo probably works the same way. If I get to Siena today, I'll find out.

John: Was it really "Free Play"? Or "Match Play"?

I recall I had to make a bet with my money, and if I hit nothing, it credited me back to a mere push.

But I think you need to start off with a credit balance to get access to the "match play " credits...

....but then alcohol was involved.

JD, from my experience with Siena, you have to play a couple of bucks before your free play for the week (or month) shows up. However, if you sell your comps for free play, it shows up as soon as you put your card in the slot. I'd bet that's how it works for the $500 reimbursement. The Sands doles out free play equal to your bet, win, lose or draw, until your free play is gone. Very quickly, I might add.

I went to Siena today to find out about the $500 deal. If you sign up, play and lose, you will be reimbursed over the next three (3) days. For example, sign up on Monday and lose $300. Get $100 in free play each day on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm not sure it's that great a deal. Any opinions?

I can see a lot of snakes in that pit! You would have to lose $300 above and
beyond what ever you won back. That might be tough to keep track of.
Then you have to go back 3 days to get it, Maybe? That's 4 days, will need
some planning! I don't go into those places to lose, but some time's it
happens, but not $300 worth of mine. Then you have all the small print
to try and decipher? I rest my case!

It's a FANTASTIC deal. You can gamble $500 wildly without fear of losing. If luck strikes and you win, great! And if not, you can play conservatively and churn most of it back.

These deals are awesome. I did a $200 one at Terribles in Vegas, hit a jackpot with my own money while betting more than I normally do, and walked away. I then did a $200 on at the Tropicana, lost, but churned it all back over the next two days via freeplay.

It's loss insurance, what's not to love? My only regret is being a longtime existing member.

Thanks so much John. Sounds like a good deal if you are going to be town for at least 4 days, also agree you gotta read all them little tiny words at the end before you try it, would be fun to play machines I don't normally play.

I just received another Siena E mail flyer and it sounds like more rearranging of the deck furniture.

So when Barney owned it, the Coffee Shop was named, "The Contrada Cafe" and the bar was called the same and was the main floor bar. The High End restaurant was called "Lexie's" after Barney's wife.

When it changed hands, Lexie's was renamed "Da Vinci's" and was the nicer of the two restaurants and I think the old Contrada was just called the "Riverview Cafe" or coffee shop.

NOW Siena's website refers only to "Peet's Coffee", "Sushi Saga" and the high end restaurant (with some not so good reviews) is now:

"WHITEWATER DINING"

http://www.sienareno.com/whitewater

PDF Menu for Whitewater:

http://www.sienareno.com/application/assets/pdfs/Siena_WhitewaterMenu.pdf

I have seen this pattern of changing with no good reason. It is usually not a good sign. If anyone sees me paying $ 12 for a martini in a casino bar , please put a bullet in my skull.

I hope I'm wrong.

I really miss the Sundowner's "GK Steakhouse"
