I am definitely out of the loop here but thought I would at least post a quick trip report as we had such a great time. We had a group of 9 guys that went down for 4 fun nights in Reno to watch some basketball and drink some cold beverages. Flew Alaska Airlines and it was on time and uneventful so that was good. We stayed at the Eldorado. Check in was a quick and easy. We love staying here as this is where we have stayed the last few years. We don't spend much time in the room but the rooms were great and it was clean. Such a good location to be near the middle of things.
Didn't gamble here too much. None of us play the slot machines much which I realize most of the people on the board do. The table games here really aren't that great. They have that stupid 6-5 payoff in black jack so we didn't stick around for that. The Sports book here is small but nice. We did make some bets here but they don't comp you for your sports bets so we moved on. Spent a lot more time at the Silver Legacy as they had a pretty good set up for watching the games and placing bets. Not to mention they had several drawings and plenty of drinks to go around. We had fun here. During the day you could find 3-2 payout for black jacks but at night they would go to the 6-5. Also spent a lot of time at the Cal Neva. I know it is a different crowd but we had a blast here. Got to visit the Siena and played there a bit. I admit I had quite a few cocktails when I got there but I couldn't get over all of the changes and work that they have done there. It was really busy the night I was there and we had a great time. I also stopped in at the Sands for old time sakes. Still open and while there is a different clientele it was pretty busy for a Sunday AM which was good to see. Sure wished I could cut back over to the Sundowner but those days are over! Had some fun times there as well!
All in all gambling wise we did good. Spent a lot of time betting games and hit some nice parlays. Should have known better and lost a lot of $ on betting Gonzaga as they got upset. Had some Black Jack sessions that didn't go as well as I'd like but had a really good one at the end. All in all I managed to leave some $ down there so I have a reason to come back again next year!
Ate WAY too much! Really good food. Tivoli was good to us for a late night meal or two. Always love the Eldorado buffet. I know it is a buffet but they have such a variety and healthy stuff as well if you want to. Love the coffee shop on the 3rd floor (Top Deck - I think) for sandwiches and soup. Really good food for cheap. Also had some good Thai food in the Asian food place in the Eldorado. Not sure of the name. They did open Starbucks up in the Silver Legacy when we were there but I like the little espresso place in the Eldorado near the elevator. The ladies there were great.
My buddies took a break from gambling and went to the Auto museum. They loved it! Funny as they came back just jazzed and had pictures of a bunch of neat cars. Another highlight for us was the Martini Bar in right next to the sushi place in the Eldorado. Buddies found it last year and they have an amazing happy hour. We took advantage of the $5 martini and man those things can catch up to you pretty quick. Uffda! One guy had a bright idea to treat us all to a shot or two of Fireball. Yeah didn't work out so well for me. Ugh. Really fun place to have a drink or two and listen to the piano. We loved.
All in all we had such a great time. I do realize that we were in Reno during March Madness so I am sure that was a big part of why it was so busy but it sure was good to see lots of people in the Casinos. What a great trip to a city that will always have a special place in my heart. Funny all of the great memories that I have from going when I was younger with my grand parents and family. I know it has changed but sure a fun get away! Hope you all are able to plan your next trip here. I know I am! Smile

Just what we like to hear. Glad you had fun, but boy, you gotta watch those cocktails - mix your liquors, and you'll be hearing from 'em!

But, sounds like you did everything one hopes to do.

Return for more.
