What started out being a short day trip on Tuesday resulted in a hell ride home, but it was totally worth it!

I'll post the trip report and details of another losing trip to the Pep and Harrahs that I went on a couple of weeks ago in a bit, but long story short, during that trip, my iPhone unfortunately got misplaced in the Silver Legacy right before I came home. Fortunately, they were able to find it in the Mansion about 4 days later - I kept GPSing its location and it wasn't moving around, so I figured maybe it was stuck in a seat somewhere, or worse yet, in a hole in the street amid the massive construction work. The lost and found at the Silver Legacy was awesome with the whole ordeal, so I give them lots of credit for that. For you iDevice users, the Find My iPhone app from the Apple Store is a must have. It's free, can tell you exactly where your phone is either via their website or by phone, gives you the option to lock it from afar, display messages on the screen that it's been lost or stolen, or even completely erase the data. Works great with iPads and iPod Touches equally well. I'm completely loving today's technology!

I was only downtown for an hour. No luck at Harrahs. A $25 bonus wheel spin on a $1 Wheel of Fortune at the Eldorado, then it was back to the Silver Legacy. I managed to get $200 hits on two different $1 Blazing 7s machines, and the strangest thing in the world happened on that second hit: Check the shot carefully. Right as the third reel stopped, it folded inward. Like a vacuum cleaner or a magnet was inside sucking it in. WEIRD! Was it a sign from Lady Luck? haha

Back to the airport, and back on the bus. Begin the hell ride home - a laughing, screaming, out of control infant with a mother who apparently could care less tortured the whole bus load of people for the entire duration of the ride home. People were literally complaining directly to her, and she sat there silently and did nothing. As if it couldn't get any worse, about 6 miles down the road from Topaz Lake at the NV/CA border, fire trucks, ambulances and police cars overtook the highway - FIRE! FIRE!

Unfortunately, the exact location of the fire closed down the 395 highway for almost 3 hours, and resulted in traffic jams, as everyone was trying to go towards the secondary road off the highway to get around Topaz Lake, which was also closed. They're relaying parts of the road right at the border past the agriculture inspection station, and workers have the two-way passing lane set up, so it was already a mess over there to begin with. 7 hours later, I was finally back in Mammoth!

Next trip is later on this evening. A couple of friends and I are checking out a punk rock show at The Alley in Sparks, and I'm utilizing my comp offer and $100 free play at the Grand Sierra. When I talked to VIP services there, they mentioned that there's no resort fee, and that they don't require a daily room deposit. I think that this is the only place that's doing this in Reno right now besides the Sands. Totally, totally free. No complaints here!

Stay tuned for the "lost my ass" trip report and photos I'll post shortly, in addition to whatever happens on the next one!

Man, them Blazing 7s just seem to rock.... perhaps during our July visit I'll give them a spin...

And for the record, the storied Club Cal-Neva doesn't charge us anything for our comped rooms.... of course, no free WiFi, but hey, we're not there to play around on Facebook.....

Thanks for the info Lily! It dawned on me that the only places I haven't stayed downtown yet are the Cal Neva and the Siena, so this is good to know. It's disheartening lately that even the places like Harrahs Reno are tacking on a $1-2, "Miscellaneous Fee," and I'm just getting tired of all those $50-$100 holds to take weeks to release themselves from my debit cards - I'd much rather have those funds available for play.

Thanks BC, and it's great to see you've also developed the 9 credit, 9 reel model - when's it going to be out on the floor at our favorite casinos? Cool

Looks like it is already at the Peppermill. Surprised you didn't find it.

It only hits once every 27,000 years....but when it does......

"Oh, sorry sir. The second reel from the left...the pay line does not go EXACTLY thru the exact CENTER of THAT seven. That's called a "machine malfunction" and voids that play. Please play it off before we have a technician take the machine out of service".
