Hi, hope everyone is doing well and it sure has been awhile - I think last time I was on, I was starting to tell everyone the story of my October trip and having to use self-defense on a bum that tried to pick my pocket on 2nd Street…not sure if I ever got that far?

Anyhow, the latest news here in Mammoth is that this has been the crappiest snow season on record for years, and has caused massive tourism drops and economy beatdown. After 4 very long, hard years at the local publishing company, I was laid off through no fault of my own a couple of weeks ago, on the day before my birthday, the dirtbags! 50-60% profit loss corporate-wide, it's a shame. But, it wasn't exactly a dream job and I get to snowboard and gamble for the rest of the season! Full unemployment comps on the way…at this point I'm thinking of just taking it all in and chillin' out for a bit.

Well, not trying to be the unemployed bum that's been going to the casino every day, but beginning last Monday I was officially on vacation so I'm trying to make the best of it! Had some free play at the Pep, about $75 worth, and a $35 Reel Rewards ticket for Harrahs Lake Tahoe. Yeah, probably not the best place to be going if you're looking to win, but strangely enough, 3 of my 5 taxed hand pays ever have been in Tahoe! This trip I only stepped over to Harveys for a little while, and played at Harrahs the rest of the time.

Got comped an executive room overlooking the lake and the Gunbarrel Express at Heavenly, and I was on my way. Lost about $200 among the $1 Blazing 7s and Wheel of Fortunes.

About 2 hours in, I jumped on a $1.50 max bet penny Quick Hit Triple Blazing 7s Wild Jackpot. As some of you know, I've become quite fond of the Quick Hits over the past year, and kind of wishing there were more $1 models out there! About $22 in, I got 8 Quick Hit symbols on the board, for a Tier 4 win of $1609.05. Jeez, I haven't seen the Jackpot Call Attendant sign, or received a tax form, since 2008!

I think I made a record-breaking number of trips to Raley's and 7 Eleven to load all of the funds onto my prepaid debit cards, and decided to keep $300 aside for the rest of the trip. The attendant told me that rather than the tax forms being issued on the spot, they are now being mailed within 60 days. Wonder how much they'll soak me on this one, it's been a while!

Over the course of the evening until about 5 am the next day, it was up-down-up-down - but those Blazing 7s really pulled through for me - again! Harrahs Tahoe now has a kiosk of the giant models, which spit out a few red sevens hits for me. Come to think of it, I think they have the most Blazing 7s machines I've seen in a single casino, kiosks of them everywhere! In addition to the mainstreams, I've also been liking the Hot Shot Progressives lately as well - seems like every different Blazing 7s game is built in. Left Tahoe for Reno up about $3100 - and in the bank!

Once I was back in Reno, I jumped over to the Peppermill to see where my free play could get me. I got a $40 hit on a Wheel of Fortune multiliner, and by the end, was up about $150, but played it back. For the last $15 of my free play, I decided to go over to one of the trusty Double Ten Times Pay machines - the $3 model this time. On the very last spin, I got a cherry, a blank, and a Double Ten Times Pay symbol for a $150 win. Peppermill: I said it 5 years ago, and I'm still saying it - please, never ever get rid of these machines!

A couple of half-day trips to the local Indian casino in Bishop since that trip last week have brought me another $850. Next trip is Monday - for the first time ever, Harrahs Reno is giving me a comped suite vs. a standard room! Even though it's in the east tower, I'm anxious to check it out - has anyone ever stayed in one? No photos are available on their site and I didn't even know they had suites there. I guess my new Platinum benefits are kicking in? Oh yeah, they redesigned the look of the Total Rewards card. And their website too. Check 'em out!

So, up about $4100 in less than two weeks - I know the luck's not going to last forever, but damn, that's like 2 months salary for me, and it came at just the right time. Looks like I won't have to cancel my upcoming trip to Australia again after all!

Best of luck to everyone! (I sure as hell need it…)
