Posted Friday am:

Thursday morning, two or three...possibly four pint sized bloody marys at the Mark twain for breakfast. And when I say, "pint size" I mean PINTS. Large beer glass PINTS with the basic red food group, the green food group, the tabasco and horseradish food group, the alcohol food group, and pepper.

No real luck, but maybe because I started on the Dbl Dbl bonus dollars. I got a couple of 4oK but played a LONG time on my first hunski. Much briefer on my second.

Down to quarters....closely followed by dimes...and nickels not much later.

I am STILL playing on Siena bucks so it doesn't hurt quite so much. John Shaffer, the owner of the casino appreciates those Siena bucks as much as I used to when they were mine. I believe I stll have about $ 500/$ 2000 left.

There are no table games in VC but some machines do have 21. Many of the locals play video keno and seem to get a lot of hand pays for anything called KENO.

Slots at: Mark Twain (my favorite), Delta (huge selection but comped drinks are rare), Bucket of Blood (weekends have "http://www.comstockcowboys.com/" who get a $ 30 cover when they play in reno....free on weekends at the "Bucket".

I don't think I ate lunch and I think dinner was a slice of pizza at the Red Dog. If you go to the Red Dog, make sure you check out the music memorabilia on the restaurant side.

Oh....MARK TWAIN BOOKSTORE: No slots, no drinks....but the BEST western bookstore in the country. Sections on mining, pioneers, gunfighters, Indian conflicts, geology, and history. BUT SOMETHING here for gifts, not some t shirt made in china. It's owned by the VOLUNTEER FIRE CHIEF who has saved the town several times and is usually staffed by Ellie, his wife. It is one great bookstore and almost directly across the street from the Mark Twain Casino:

Big wind storm came thru late last night. And when the locals say it's windy ....it is DAMNED WINDY. Maybe snow tonight.

I need a nap.

Biggest slab of Prime Rib I have ever had !! Fully priced at $ 18.99 but excellent.

I have a terrible cough due to the dry humidity. And it even snowed a little last night. This is the only place I've seen snow not melt....it evaporates.

Today we do the great balls of fire and St. Patrick's day parade.

And my Siena money is nearly gone now.

Time for breakfast at the Palace.

More later.

I don't feel so good.

And my wallet is considerably thinner.

And I'm going back to bed now.

Either JD hit the big one and is too busy rolling in his stacks of Benjamins to log in and give us an update or he's overdosed on any number of Virginia City vices.

I got a dry cough that turned into a chest cold and I've been in isolation, Lily.

I was watching the road cams and ran for home Monday morning and as the Willamette Pass is now getting 2 feet of snow right now, I'm glad I ran when I did.

I am starting to realize I no longer have the endurance to party like it's 1999.

Testicle festival a real hoot and a huge crowd. Live music great all over town, and didn't lose big but just went downhill slowly.... found a new VP game I liked in the Mark Twain: "PICK EM POKER". Kinda like texas hold em video Poker.

Raining in Portland...what a shock !

I need more coffee.

More after a full recovery.

You never did say if you had a chance to try the Rocky Mountain Oysters?? I think not, considering your last few days.

If you like beer, you might be interested in this new brew just introduced.

Oh ya...I tried four or five of THESE:

From the local newspaper:

http://virginiacitynews.com/

1. Oysters Neuterfeller – Mark Twain Saloon

2. Spicy Bayou Balls – Mustang Ranch

3. Great Balls of Fire – Delta Saloon

4. Balls On Buns – Cupcakes on The Comstock

5. Comstock Mountain Oysters – Eikelberger Awning of Sparks

6. Cajones Caliente – Matt Fogarty and 10 Design

7. Nevada Dream Semi-Pro Team from Virginia City

8. Nut Up or Shut Up – Bucket of Blood Saloon

9. Irish Nut Bombs – Cherry Bomb Catering of Sparks

10. Killer Frickin’ Cajones

11. Red Dog Ball Lickers – Red Dog Saloon

12. Lucky Irish Balls – Roadrunner Cafι of Dayton

13. Tacos De Bolas – Old Corner Bar & AFSCME Chapter

AND I was kinda drafted by team # 1 to run their entries to the judges stand. THEIRS was sea oysters on the half shell, WITH the rocky mountain oysters kinda chopped up and ladled over the REAL oysters.

Well, would you eat them again? Who deserved the trophy? Are you marking your calendar for next year's Testicle Festival??

Well Lily, the texture would probably be better if they were served really HOT. But as it's a street cookoff...they don't stay hot outside in VC in March for very long.

When touring far and wide in the service, I had my food "ICK" factor surgically removed. Stuff like this is still less creepy than most chow eaten anywhere in Asia.

In most of the Mid East, top grade "Shish, (lamb) Kabob has one of these tasty morsels one the end of the skewer. The host is quite offended if the guest declines the offer of this special "treat".

They're a novelty and kinda like the chili cookoff...which happens to be May 12-13. The LAST chili cookoff in VC, I sat down at the LAST vacant machine at the bar in the Mark Twain Saloon, a $ 1 VP, put a $ 20 in, and walked away with $ 1200 !

And by that time NEXT year, I might be living THERE and entering it myself.
