Hi again everyone! OK, thanks to LilyJDragonfly, CaSwede and whoever else told me to go back for revenge…it happened…big time!

On Friday of last week, I decided to jump back on the bus to Reno for a little day trip. Unfortunately, the driver was running way behind on his route, and instead of arriving at the airport at 12 noon, the bus came rolling up at 1:08, leaving a whole whopping 32 minutes before I was due back at the airport at 1:50. Yikes! Jumped on the Harrah's shuttle bus, stuck a $20 in a $5 Quick Hit, and won $325. LIterally 10 minutes later, I was in a cab back to the airport! Jumped back on the bus with about 2 minutes to spare. That was the most whack trip of my life - almost 7 hours on a bus for 18 minutes in a casino! But hey, up $325 - that's quite a hefty reward for taking a day trip - and nothing better to do at this point!

Week number two of my vacation involved finally finishing cleaning and de-sludging my apartment and belongings. I had to wind up taking on these tasks myself in order to save my possessions in a timely manner, as the property owner here has failed to follow through with his promises to compensate and fix everything thus far. Insured or not, the last thing I'd ever do is leave all my stuff to die in a pile of toxic sludgewater. I had a few things get ruined that aren't insured, about $800 worth of stuff, so we'll see what happens. Meanwhile, Virgin Australia couldn't get me on another flight out to Brisbane until Wednesday, leaving a whopping four days down under, so the whole thing got bagged. Between the airlines and apartments, $425 later, I as able to save all my flight and accommodation bookings for a later time. It was right around this time when I thought, "ok, time to take another road trip!"

Wednesday morning brought more bad news. On top of all the problems and disappointments from the previous week, I bumped into my neighbor outside who sadly informed me that another one of our neighbors, and best friends, was just found dead in her shower stall. Reality has been harsh for the past few days. Fortunately the autopsy revealed no signs of suicide, foul play or drugs, which was a breath of fresh air, although we knew none of those were causes. Everyone please say a prayer for her, as we're all hurting here.

So, by this time, it was definitely time to get outta the house for a while. Another trip to Kmart in Bishop was in order to buy some more replacement stuff for my apartment. Good thing I decided to stop back in, as this trip to the Paiute Palace was a recordbreaking winner - came out 3 hours later almost $900 ahead! As crazy as it sounds, I could hear my recently departed friend and neighbor cackling and going, "You're killin' it with the jackpots!" Her spirit was definitely with me for sure. Got a couple of awesome hits on the new Advantage 5 Vibrant 7's multiliner machines, and a few other hits on a Triple Diamond Free Games. I think this makes up for all those losing trips I've had at this Indian Casino! But hey, can't road trip to Reno everyday, so sometimes it's the only option. Upon arriving home and spending time with sad friends and neighbors for the rest of the evening, I stopped to check on the comps for the next few days. With Hot August Nights going on, I suspected nothing was available in Reno and that held true. However, I hadn't been to Tahoe since December and a comp popped up for a luxury room at Harveys, so I was back on the bus to Reno again Thursday morning. Gotta keep moving when times are harsh, right?

This bus trip was a little more relaxed, as I knew I wasn't going to be returning until the next day. It arrived at the Reno airport promptly at 12:00 noon, and I was back on the shuttle bus to Harrah's. Downtown was absolutely packed up for Hot August Nights, and it was great to finally be able to check out some of the action down there. First $20 in that same kiosk of $1 Quick Hits gave another $400 win. Up and down with the Blazing 7s, Wheel of Fortune and penny Quick Hits, then it was off to the Eldorado and Silvery Legacy. Unfortunately, lost about $275 of it at the Silver Legacy. Uh-oh!

Back to the airport. Had to hang out for about an hour and a half for the next South Tahoe Express bus to arrive, so hung out in one of the massage chairs for a bit by the arrival/departure board. Those things rock, they really do the trick, especially after all those hours on the bus!

Checked into a newly remodeled luxury room at Harveys upon arriving in Stateline. It was on the 8th floor and everything was in great shape. There was a brand new HD flat panel on the wall - not sure if the whole place has upgraded, or if this was something specific to just the Tahoe tower or the higher-end rooms. Really nice setup. I keep forgetting that for the most part, Tahoe is tight! By the time I was back on the bus to Reno the next morning, I was down about $725. The only hit I got the whole time was a $200 mixed 7s on a $1 Blazing 7s machine. I had a $25 express play coupon which went in about 5 seconds. I did have fun on some penny Hot Shot Progressive machines, but no wins. After being in Reno, and even at my local Indian Casino in Bishop, Tahoe seemed to have an overall sense of dooming tightness this trip. Oh well, I intentionally left a one hour window open so I could return downtown before jumping on the bus back to Mammoth…

…it was worth it! Back to the kiosk of $1 Quick Hits. After alternating spins between a few different machines, I was completely out of money. Went to the ATM to see if a final $40 could get me anywhere. Down to the last spin, I got 25 free games. Up another $418!!!!!! Played $50 of it back, got a $200 random bonus round, then it was back off to the airport.

Don't ask what possessed me to do this, but I decided to play a $20 on a $1 Wheel of Fortune outside the men's room at the airport. First spin in got me a wheel spin and a $100 bonus. This was my first - and probably last - airport win. Back on the bus to Mammoth, up $685 total throughout the whole series of trips over the past couple of weeks. Sure was fun, despite all the bad news and disappointments I'd experienced over the past couple of weeks. Hopefully, next Reno trip in October will much more high spirited - my parents are visiting from North Carolina, and it will be their first Reno trip ever. They taught me everything I know!

Here are some random pics from Bishop, Stateline and Reno. I think this little series of trips helped me stay sane over the past few days. Looking forward to many more, and oh, if anyone bumps into these $1 Quick Hit machines anywhere around Reno or Tahoe (check the photo of the $400 win), please let me know! There are tons of the penny video and mechanical reel models all over Reno, but I've only seen this one kiosk of the $1 models at Harrah's Reno. So far, at $5 per spin max bet, these things seem to give awesome payouts - even if things get a little tight.

Hey MG, thanks for the detailed report. Nice to have a great trip to offset the troubles at home. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. On the bottom photo above, what are those numbers between the symbols for? (Cool (1) (Cool (9)

Thanks John! Regarding those additional number symbols, I really wasn't sure...at first I thought they might be additional multipliers or something depending on where they land, or they might play a role to add credits when certain combinations are hit. To be totally honest, I haven't had any luck with these Advantage 5 machines until I got these two hits, they're those type of machines that are almost $3 a pull but the maximum jackpot is only about $900 or so. I guess I just got lucky at the Paiute Palace because a good chunk of it got taken back when I was playing them at the Silver Legacy - no hits whatsoever! I did find a couple of others like the Lucky Dragon that have a big red, blue or green dragon that cover all 3 reel positions and add to your jackpot, but the one bonus round I got on that one yielded a whole whopping 30 cents.

I think that in the last photo it was a combination of the mixed "any bars" (top/bottom/top/bottom/top) along with the red 7s with the 2x multiplier (bottom/top/bottom/top/bottom) to give me the $406, and in the previous photo, it was the same 7s combination, only top/bottom/bottom/bottom/top that gave me the $400.

Thanks for the report. I might have been at Lake Tahoe at the same time as you? Sorry to hear about the bad news, but winning can at least bring a smile to your face (and wallet) for a short period of time.
