Oh, sure. Give us a little teaser, then make us wait with pounding hearts for the good stuff.

Snow in May is about right for this area, but you shouldn't get more than 6-8 inches today. Good news is the temperature should shoot up to 31 for the rest of your trip.

Let's hear about your big win...

hmmmmm...............I guess I am not currently up $ 2500.

Where's my car?

Saturday am I plop at the MArk Twain Saloon for my "FREE" bloody mary which I hope is cheaper than the $ 400 beer I had with John at the Siena.

The Mark Twain is my favorite hangout a 24/7/365 slots only (no table games or club cards anywhere in VC) about 1/3 the size of the Little Nugget. But the staff is friendly and if you are playing, drinks are comped. Since so many touristas have abused the "drinks while playing rule" if you are unknown, you really have to demonstrate some play BEFORE you are comped drinks....$ 2 tips quickly place you on the Platinum level in this town. It also helps when the owner of the casino slaps you on the back and says loudly, "THANK GOD YOU'RE BACK, WE CAN MAKE PAYROLL NOW!"

It's not long before my reputation catches up with me. It's been nearly a year since my last visit but I greeted by several well known locals which establishes sufficient cred to warrant WONDERFUL FROM SCRATCH BLOODY MARYS.

They have maybe 10 multi game bartops, the first 3 or so are dollars only...the rest are multiple denomination. I usually play quarters x 5 and look for one that is called "Fore PLAY' ....i mean, "FOUR PLAY". It has a goofy pay table that pays $ 100 on ANY four of a kind. Always had luck with that game. Three bloody marys, three 4oK...Maybe $ 100 in...I'm up about $2c.

VC always has some kind of promotion, parade, excuse for a party....today it's chili. License plates from serious competors from Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, wow! The local high school, and civic groups also have booths which are near to blowwing down the state highway, which is blocked for the event....not sure how they do that.

I think Bambi got your car after you quaffed down a bottle of red... or maybe it was that little bartender.

Check your pockets for matches - they often give good clues as to where you might have been the night before!

LOL on the matches...and I don't smoke.

Well last night i did...I do recall that.

The cute short haired blond bartenderess...Emily? I think I asked her to write a glowing review of my prowess on the women's restroom wall...not like she would have any idea...but I thought maybe...well i DIDN'T THINK.

I'm pretty sure she'll spend her tips on tatoos. I ask to see them all...request denied.

I'm pretty sure I heard her say to herself, "Dirty old man"....I guess that would be....accurate.

Before my nap I was trying to figure out how much won and how much waas mine to start with.

Early Sat, I only put in maybe $40 and cashed out $ 250...less maybe $ 10 in tips = + 200

Near noon, the parade was just getting started and all bar stools at quarter machines were full so I sat at a dollar machine that did NOT have "Four play" so I got another bloody mary and tossed in a $ 20 and proceededto play...and play....and play.

The game: Tripledevil trouble (where the devils jump up and next 3 free hands are free and pay triples)

AAAA4 = $ 1000
Up jumps the devils and i HIT:
77773 = 250 X 3= $ 750
get maybe two more four of a kinds and am up over $ 1500, when I start falling.

Cash out at $ 1,250 and the cage guy says I have to get a 1099.

"No you don't . It waas not onehand, I built it up. Go get the boss", says I.

John (owner) loooks and says, "Did the machine lock up?
NO? Pay the man"

Later that night while puffing my victory cigar, sit at a machine on the floor and double up on something...cash out my $ 200 Shocked in at $ 800.

Pretty fair tips all around

"I'm buyin drinks at the Red Dog"

I drop maybe another $ 200 on drinks & tips at the Red Dog, Corner BAr (Pieper's Opera House) and Union Brewery.

Union: Biker Bar with live music "Hired Gunz" fantastic cover band with lots of Sammy Hagar, Journey, Boston.....ZERO breaks for 4 HOURS !!!

Red Dog: "Lady and the Tramps" locals with fantastic Glen lead guitar Eric Clapton style and Molly, his wife that hass range from Joan Jett to Country Wester...Killer group. SOme original stuff, mid 80's rock.

Silver Dollar Bar: Connie Bryan = single gal with an elecric drummer and sync sets ...lots of Eagles and Al Yankovic kind of parodies.. "Days Inn California" funny and perfect melody to "Hotel California" Very entertaining.

Two other bands in town...we never get to...all walking (or crawling distance.

2 am: Back to Mark Twain for more money.

Get home and toss big stacks of twentys, c notes, envelopes loose cash on table...It looks huge.

Later count= $ 1,300 oh wait...there's another $ 1,000 in my glove box...where is that car? Oh....parked at the neighbors.

Started with $ 300, counted $ 2,300.

AND NO DUII !!

It was a good night!

But today (Sunday):

Slept in
4 coffees
Newspaper
trip report
nap
Now current.

Cajun Restaurant tonight with newpaper owners.

JD, out

Nope...Did NOT get laid....up, down or sideways.

AFTER I went to Mark Twain for a bloody mary breakfast...$ 10 in...$ 320 out and I have witnesses. quarter machine Four play ...I love that game.

I t is now (10 pm and snowing heavily but I only had to drive a few blocks.

Oh...I spent most of Monday exploring old Dayton/old Carson City and old Genoa....go to old Genoa bar to visit the way back machine....too cool.

Back to VC before dark and litttle gambling until 9 pm and many drinks.

Ponderosa Sherry promises to write a glowing review of what a man I am....in return for a few $ 2 bills....which I am out of. Dammit!

I end up giving back about half of the $ 320 win at Mark Twain but not before I get a dozen people to promise to razz the Mark Twain owner about HIS money buying drinks up and down the main drag.

SHERRY.....you promised you'd visit....where are you babe?

Everrybody say hi to Sherrie....bartendress at the Pondo...she be here in a bit.....she promised.....

Night night...

Cherrie signed up for the message board last night. I'm thinking we may now learn the truth about JD's VC trip.

tHANK gOD SHE DID'T POST ANYTHING. (damn cap lock)

I better get up to C Street soon with a wad of deuces before she actually WRITES something.

By the way, THE PONDEROSA

See pics: Bands, Booze, Bar, Backroom mining tour, gold for sale.

Google IMAGES: "Ponderosa Saloon Virginia City" (Removed link to improve page readability) OR:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ponderosa-Saloon/137051223002033
And click thru images there.

Is my FAVORITE SALOON...when Cherri's working. Great to get away from gambling for a while.

And on the gambling....The Mark Twain has been niblin away at my bankroll at the slowest rate I can go. Been losin about $ 100
during the day, another hunski at night....Still have most of their dough.
No slots, but music and a damn mine tour out the back of the saloon. It's the one with all the genuine old guns and bank vault in the bar.

Time for a "FREE" bloody mary at the Mark Twain, then breakfast at the Palace.

Click that link and scroll......Cherrie's pic is there. Guess which one?

And Cherrie: If it's spelled "PONDERosa....why do locals call it "THE PONDO"?

(Must be on accounta there's not too much "PONDERING" goin on)
