I'll be there a week from tomorrow and I'm looking at cycling about $100K through the 50-play NSUD (assuming my BR holds out!) as I have a sizable welfare check from Eldorado which will make it a decent recreational play.
I heard a rumor that they have a weird Don't Ask Won't Tell system but can't find out much more info.
I'm kind of conservative in that I like to use my comps as I earn them. Not a big fan of that "charge everything to the room and we'll see what we want to do when you check out" mentality.
I posted a couple of weeks ago on the VP Free Reno forum but its been rather slow there lately.

If you're planning to play that much you might want to contact a casino host on your arrival. He/she might be willing to explain the system to you before you get started. As far as I know, however, the Peppermill comps program is a mystery. We only play table games and video poker, so I can't comment on slot machine play, but in my experience we play for a while and a random number of points appear on our account. With table games I guess it relates to how long we play and what is the average bet, but nobody has ever been able to give me a mathematical ratio. They do run your card through a reader at the table so there is some accountability, not just a question of if the pit boss likes you or not.

You can swipe your card at the Peppermillions kiosk and see how many points you have accumulated, but to know what that's worth you have to go to the counter and ask for a comp. As an example, I recently had 400 points, and when I asked what that would be for food comps the clerk said "Oh, maybe something like about $100." She wouldn't commit to a specific amount. Maybe it depended on which restaurant we went to or something. Room comps might be a different ratio too, but it looked like each point was worth "about" 25 cents.

Don't get me wrong, I really like the Peppermill. It's just that their comps program seems to be one of the best kept secrets in town.

It may or may not be a mystery. But for sure it changes on a regular, or irregular basis.

As soon as you figure out what kind of play gets what level of comps, it will change by adding another player level. First it was a gold card got the best comps, then platinum. I expect they'll be adding Expectium and Dreamonium as soon as people figure out NO ONE gets the private jet!!

Me: "Do I have enough comps for a steak dinner?"
Them: "Which restaurant?"
Me " Ugh....the 'Steakhouse?"
Them: "Which steak were you going to order?"
Me: "Do you have a menu?"
Them: "Were you planning on ordering drinks?"
Me: "Yes, do they serve Hemlock?"

Them: "We COULD tell you what your point balance is....but then we would have to have Guido take you for a ride in the desert in our Limo... all comped!"

Your formula makes sense. For the better VP, like NSUD, it apparently takes $75 or so to make a point. So a quarter would be a comp rate of .33%, which sounds about right for NSUD.
All in a all a lousy way to run a system but since they are the only place in town with 50 play NSUD I will be playing there.]
