Left early Sun. morning, taking our favorite route (Hwy 49 to SR88) so that we could enjoy the fall colors along the way. There wasn't much traffic going in our direction which made it a nice drive. Only had to make a couple of pit stops. Weather was perfect, snow on the peaks and colors were beautiful.

We didn't hit any traffic until we reached Carson City and once on the other side, it got better. We were surprised with a Detour downtown Reno due to the Italian Festival, we hadn't heard that it was going on. Hundreds of people filled the streets and we had to detour around a few blocks to get to the Circus parking garage.

Check-in was fast, no waiting in line and our room was ready. We were both thirsty and headed to the first casino bar we could find before taking our luggage to our room. The crowd in the casino wasn't as big, I guess most were outside for the festival. After taking our bags to our room we headed to the players club section to check our cards and we each got a free entry to the CC daily slot tourney.

We decided to have a walk outside and look at the festival happenings. It was packed with people, there were vendors and singers, the smell of fresh garlic bread in the air (made ya hungry!), people eating and having a good time. We kept on walking until we hit our old home away from home, the Fitz. We couldn't resist taking a peek inside.

Some of the paper was missing on the front entrance and we could see inside. We saw Mr. O'Lucky still standing there, slot machines still there (no longer covered in plastic) and there was a sizzor lift where the craps table had been, guess they've been working on the ceiling maybe. I rubbed the Blarney Stone out front (it's still there) for luck as I always have in the past. We also took a peek inside the Golden Phoenix, couldn't see much but a few slot machines in front, they were lit up, nothing else to see. It was sad to see the Fitz parking garage had been marked by taggers.

Back to CC to play my fav quarter machine, it was still there. We played for about an hour or so, not once did a cocktail waitress come around. So, we cashed out (I was $40 up) and went to the Keno lounge, finally got a drink there. Played some keno until it was time for dinner, went to the Courtyard Buffet there at CC. Lots of choices, tried the prime rib and it was really good. We liked all the salad choices there as well.

After dinner we played the slots a little longer, still no cocktail waitress, very disappointing. We cashed out and decided to head back to our room and relax. We were on the 10th floor, facing East, which is great for watching the sunrise (I'm used to getting up early).

Monday morning I was awake about 6 am, there were a few clouds in the sky and when the sun starting coming up, it was the most beautiful sunrise I had seen in a long time, the sun behind the clouds turned them the color of gold! Awesome! We had breakfast at the buffet, hubby got his omlette at the egg cook station and the coffee was better this trip (wasn't so great last year).

Went down to the casino and played my fav machine again, still no cocktail waitress, cashed out $75 (I started with $10), so I was ahead, good way to begin the day. We decided to walk over to Harrah's, they were offering Double Points from the 10th to the 15th. We checked our cards first before playing.

We found some quarter WOF machines and started playing, not too long
after, here comes a cocktail waitress! Yes, the day was starting to get better! We played these machines for about 3 hours, kept getting money to play with. I got a "double, double, and a red 7" that gave me 640 quarters,,,woohoo! Harrah's offers a free buffet (for two) if you earn 100 points on your club card, I made that in no time at all. So, we were set for dinner that night Smile

I didn't want to leave my machine but I had promised hubby that we'd visit the Silver Peak so he could try some brews. We cashed out (I was up $100 and he $50) and walked over the the Silver Peak. After his brews we started walking back to CC, saw the Montage Condos, not many looked lived in.

We went back to our room for a break and rested until we were hungry for
dinner. Stopped at the keno lounge to check my tickets, no wins. Walked
back to Harrah's for our free dinner buffet, hubby tried the crab legs and I had the prime rib, everything was good although they didn't have a very big selection for salad choices.

Down to the casino for our last night of fun, went right back to our quarter WOF machines. It was about 6 pm, sat down and we each started with $20. The machines were good to us again, kept getting the "spin" button which gave us $$ to keep playing without having to feed the machines. We met a nice couple that came over to play next to us, fun people and we all were having a great time.

The cocktail waiter kept coming back about every 15 min. so none of us went thirsty. We laughed and played for hours, the lady sitting next to my hubby got the "spin" , pushed the button and the wheel landed on 1,000 ! Thats only the 2nd time I've ever seen anyone get that. At one point, hubby was up over $500 on his machine and I was up over $200. We stayed and played until we were too pooped to play anymore, so we cashed out, both ahead and headed back to our room. We were surprised to see the Fitz all lit up out front.

Tue. morning, up early again, packed our bags and decided to have breakfast at the buffet before heading back home. Breakfast was good as was the coffee. The drive home wasn't bad, at least no heavy traffic although there was lots of roadwork going on everywhere. After counting our $$, we were ahead about $300 for this trip, not too bad considering the amount of time we spent gaming.

All in all, it was a fun trip although we were disappointed in a few things at CC, no cocktail waitress at all while at the machines, and some of the coupons we were given, we were told we couldn't use, and then there was the $3.99 daily "resort fee" that was to cover things that we never used.

Although we liked the hotel, easy parking and we liked our room (was clean & quiet), perhaps we should re-think where we'll stay the next time we make it to Reno. Why charge guests for things they don't use? Made no sense to us.

Wow! A totally winning TR - CONGRATS!!! Thanks for posting....

The one time we stayed at CC, we decided we weren't going back due to crappy comps and mediocre service.

Go to the Harrah's website and log in with your Total Rewards some time this week; if you played enough to get buffets, you should have a few comped rooms. We've converted to Harrah's players and have comped rooms at most of their properties now, even Caesar's Palace in Vegas. To see your room comps, log in and then hit "reservations", type in your travel dates, and your rates will appear.

That being said, we still play at ElDo and Silver Legacy and usually hit Cal-Neva, too.... I like to mix it up a bit....

I agree with LilyJ, it's great to read about winning trips. I haven't had one in so long, I've quit playing. In a way, that's winning, isn't it?

Thanks for the report, Peb. I hope your winning streak continues.

Thanks for sharing, as always, and great job!

I'm going to start trying that blarney stone outside the Fitz; they may be closed, but it sounds like the stone still works!

Thanks for the excellent TR and congratulations on your wins!

Re: "It was sad to see the Fitz parking garage had been marked by taggers." There was an article in the paper recently saying the owners of the structure are going to clean it up and might reopen it. Then an item appeared on the City Council agenda concerning a proposed transfer of ownership of the underlying real estate from the city to private developers. I don't know how that came out but something may be afoot for the old garage.
