I guess everyone knows that they have the Bonnie and Clyde death car on display at the Gold Ranch which is way out west of Verdi on Hwy 80. I think they also have Clyde's shirt complete with bullet holes. However---- Did you know they have a Memorabilia Gift Set??

Included in this gift set is two T-shirts, two shot glasses, Bottle of bloody Mary Mix and a bottle of Vodka.

Humor or Bad Taste?

I think that about covers the options to consider.

I say HUMOR! We actually stopped in on our way out of Reno last time to see it. I found the "Do Not Touch The Death Car" sign particularly amusing.

I had no idea there was a gift set; I'll certainly be scoping that out on our next trip....do the t-shirts have bullet holes? <grin>

If the shirts don't have bullet holes, Lily, you can stop by John's place and the birds will quickly accomplish the task -- or rip it to shreds.

Bad taste, not something I'd want to be associated with.

Think about it. This is a car that criminals were shot to death in. Yay! Let's get 2-1 prime rib sandwiches and play Caveman Keno!

Maybe in 60 years, they'll add Abner Louima's plunger, Scott Peterson's skiff, Marjorie Knoller's dog collar collection, maybe even toss in a few Gitmo waterboards. I know I'd like to place harness racing bets next to a case displaying Dred Scott's shackles.

Every time I see stuff like this, I'm reminded how dumb some businesses think their customers are, and how right some of those businesses can occasionally be.

I fully realize I sound like a scold. But I was asked.

In my opinion, you can't compare any of those criminals with the legendary Bonnie and Clyde. The one's you mentioned were involved in horrific crimes that shocked the nation, Bonnie and Clyde were involved in horrific crimes that captivated and fascinated the nation, more than the Barefoot Bandit does today or D.B. Cooper did in the 70's They were one of many criminals during "public enemy era" of the 1930s that were living legends. An unmarried young couple living in sin, fast cars, guns, bullet riddled clothes and corpses, illegal booze, shattered glass and twisted metal. Common, who isn't interested in that?

Some were, some weren't.

We now know that many Gitmo detainees committed no crimes. None. Some of the tortured, including some tortured to death, were victims in every sense of that word.

And I for one don't consider being a runaway slave a crime.

I know this threatens to get very serious, and I regret that. But I honestly don't get how a car that became famous for seating criminals as they were shot to death becomes famous and worthy of celebration. I really don't. I think that's sick. And I vote with my gas pedal every time I pass Verdi, knowing others choose otherwise.

B&C were undeniably bad guys. The Feds took 'em down. That is cause for celebration.
If the Feds were to take down 100 proven drug dealers today, I would celebrate and would visit the site if in the area. And 1,000 or 10,000 dead drug dealers would be even better.

Gee Shooty- I wish you would tell us how you really feel about this. Very Happy Actually the first time I saw the car down in Primm, there was a lady there that was telling everyone that this car display was in bad taste.... after all, two people were killed in that car.

I stopped by there this afternoon on my way home from Reno. Yes, the shirt is there, and they also have a few other items--- beads, belt, and a mirror.

No I did not pick up those shot glasses.

I just had a funny thought. Anyone been to Primm lately? I wonder if they have the "same car" there still. It certainly wouldn't be the first time for such a hoax.

I can picture the guys with their modern AK-47s laughing their a---- off as they are pumping holes into yet another "original death car of Bonnie and Clyde".

All the Bonnie and Clyde death cars are hoaxes.

I know this because several years ago, I purchased the genuine, original death car from a guy on Virginia Street. Here it is:
