This is the 1st of 2 trip reports:

Trip #1, beginning of February, Eldorado
I signed up for the Eldorado slot club online and received their $25 credit that can be used toward your first stay. With the credit, I wound up getting a rate of $20.50 per night for 2 nights. Also, they charge a $3 "resort fee" per night, but still a good deal. It was my first time there, and I thought the hotel was very nice. The lobby is impressive and gives the impression of a top notch hotel. After seeing the lobby, I was a little disappointed in my room. The carpet, drapes, bedspreads, etc. all seemed a little dated. Not dirty, just older. I imagine I was staying in one of their older rooms, however, since I chose their cheapest room available. I would guess that their deluxe rooms are probably newer and nicer. Just a guess though. Anyway, all in all I was pleased with the hotel.

Also, they gave me 2 free breakfast buffet comps at check in, which I didn't expect and was a nice surprise. Since I was by myself on this trip, I had the Eldorado breakfast buffet both days. The buffet was good and I especially liked the made to order omelette station. The restaurant employees were all very friendly and helpful and the buffet was very clean as well. It was good enough that I ate there for dinner one night also. I'm more of a dinner person than a breakfast person, so I was very pleased with the selection and quality of all the food. They had freshly carved turkey and ham, shrimp, all the other typical buffet stuff, and some great dessets.

I did venture out of the Eldorado for one of my meals. My first night there, I had the steak and lobster special at the coffee shop in the Silver Legacy. I think it was $13.95 and it came with a potato, veggies, and rolls. The steak was tender and juicy and the lobster was flavorful also, so I was very happy. The host and waitress were very nice also, so I would go there again.

Since this was my first time in the Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus, I really enjoyed the way the 3 casino/hotels are connected indoors. As a first timer, I thought it was a really cool concept. Next time I return with my wife, I'd like to check out Brew Brothers in the Silver Legacy and the Bubinga Lounge in the Eldorado. They both looked like cool places.

As for gambling, being a low rolla such as myself, I didn't play where I stayed. The table limits were lower next door at Fitzgeralds, so that's where I played. I probably spent about 4 hours playing blackjack at their $1 and $2 tables. They only offer the $1 blackjack tables on Thursdays. The $2 tables are open everyday. So, after 4 hours of play, I think I came out ahead a whopping $2! Whoooeeee!!! Better than a loss though, any day of the week.

So, that was that. My next trip was to the Reno Hilton. I'll post that separately.
