As usual- most of my trips are just a spur of the moment decision, and this was no different. I woke up Thursday morning looked at my "to do" list and saw nothing for Thursday and Friday.... yea! I thought to myself that I have not been to North Tahoe for awhile, so why not?

I tried calling the Tahoe Biltmore where I had some offers, and no answer for more than an hour. Finally someone picked up the phone, and I asked if they had a room for me for tonight and tomorrow, and could I make a reservation? His reply was- "No need for a reservation. We have plenty of room, so just show up." OK. I did just that.

I got up to Lake Tahoe about 4 PM. It was strange in that there was a huge traffic jam at the Donner Summit. What is going on? Well, when I got to Truckee, I saw the problem. They were moving a bridge on I-80. It took up the entire road. They had three C.H.P. cars as an escort. That was one oversize load for sure.

My first stop was the Hyatt Regency at Incline Village. I have not been there for more than 2 years, and it is just as ritzy as it has always been. I wandered around and played some vp without much success.

I then heading to the Biltmore and checked in to the hotel. I think I was one of about three checked in....It was very dead in there. I wandered around and decided to check out the Cal-Neva to see what they had done with the casino area. The machines are all gone, and they had put some tables and sofa's in the area...rather depressing.

I like to play at the Nugget where they have some nice brews on tap. I heard a woman screaming like she had hit something big. This went on for awhile, and she came over to the bar area where I was and was talking about how her ex-husband had won big--- $250. She said he never gambles or drinks, so she was ordering up a celebration drink selection. Oh- she had no teeth on the bottom, so it was a little difficult to understand her. Mad Well- about 5 minutes later there was a large commotion, and it seems that her ex-husband's new girl friend showed up for the celebration. There seemed to be a big fight (I tried to ignore the whole thing). She then came over looking to get a ride home, and kept saying how she wanted to punch that woman in the nose. She kept after me, and I said I had to leave.... phew. Shocked

Friday morning I got up and wanted to try the $3.33 breakfast advertised at the Crystal Bay Club. This little diner tries the big green approach. They talk about how they use recycled plates (no washing dishes), and have the knife and fork made from corn (?). Well, it was great- 3 eggs, 3 slices of bacon, toast and hash browns....... for another $1 they have organic coffee. That was good for me till dinner. Speaking of dinner, I ate at Conrad's which is very nice. I checked at the slot club about comps for my dinner, and the gal told me I have $750.00 in comps available. Whoa--- plenty to cover my dinner for sure.

Well- that is about it for my trip. I did not win this time, but had a great time. My next trip? Memorial Day weekend at south shore Tahoe for me.

Swede, you need to take a trip to West Virginia. You would truly be in Hillbilly Heaven. Wherever you trip, you seem to attract the toothless ladies. In West Virginia, you would truly be in Hog Heaven. You'd be surrounded as soon as you crossed the state line.

Glad you made the trip. Wish that I had been along.
Thanks for the post and for generating some interest on the board.
