Here's a rundown of the 11 food and beverage outlets to be offered when CommRow officially opens 10/1. Although the rock climbing is of limited interest to most people, we all must eat and drink. These look like interesting additions to the choices offered in the downtown casinos. A lot depends on the price. I'll try to check it out and take notes once they open.

Looks like some good choices. I'll have to try them, after I get my Awful Awful of course.

"WHAT" does "QUE" mean?

Thanks for the run down, Ramano.

But 'scuse me while I hurl over those restaurant names.

I guess I'm gettin to be a old fart...'cause those names are just toooooo cutsy for me.

Maybe there's some mighty good chow there, but what's with the names?

Well, we'll see.

Like Steve, when I'm a little toasted...I go for the Offal, Awful.

"WHAT" does "QUE" mean? ......

You might say “QUE? – ¿Por Que?” Maybe the thing to do is have a contest to see who can use all the restaurant names in a single sentence and still make sense.

On another note, the timing of the grand opening appears ominous. Two weeks ago there was the IHOP shooting, last week the air races crash, now this week there has already been a biker gang shootout at JA’s Nugget for Street Vibrations. We can only wonder what next weekend will hold for CommRow.

I guess they had to do something to "fun up" the place after deciding to name it CommRow, which sounds like something they'd call the barracks over in Iraq.

And then HANG hotel - why have the caps? What does it stand for?

Those are some fancy/dancy names they conjured up for dining. I see they have already come up with a cutesy nickname for CommRow = "TheRow" Note no space in the name.

Qué ?? I think this must be a good name for them. That is what you are going to say after paying $5 for one of their "three bite tacos" Or in English you might say WTF?

Agreed, the one that got me was "Da Stand". That's just stupid.

Whoa! Watching the video almost made me puke! The Fitz was never that thrilling! (But I didn't want it to be anyway.)

I guess, if the elevators are still as slow, that this could be a quicker way to get between floors. I doubt I'd want a hotel room adjacent to that. Oh well, good luck to them.

This really is the height of pomposity - what more can be said that would come close to the pretentiousness of these names?

(Edited for easier poking of fun)

Here's the originals, followed by Stan's Translation:

Qué – Inspired by the specialized flavors and preparation methods of Queretaro, Mexico, Que’s three-bite tacos al carbon and handmade gorditas are stuffed full of fire-roasted salsas, cheeses and roasted meats.
Da Stand – Featuring classic Italian beef sandwiches made with beef roasted in fresh herbs and spices, locally-baked breads and scratch-made jus. Also offering Italian sausages, fresh giardiniera, sweet peppers and Leal’s childhood favorite, “Dunk Bread”.
Lemoni – A Mediterranean-inspired grill with heavy Greek influence, offering flaming saganaki, falafel, souvlaki and much more.
TarTarBar – Sashimi-grade fish, classic tartars, and cevichés, complemented by sparkling wines, sakes and champagne cocktails.
Twisted – A do-it-yourself dessert bar, featuring soft serves, toppings and candy by the pound.
Checkout – The only place in town offering La Colombe, an independently-owned coffee company whose free-trade grown and harvested beans will have less than 48-hours between roaster and coffee cup.
Up – Healthy snacks for powering up in the climbing facility, including fruit smoothies, housemade granolas, fresh veggies and dips.
Órale – An ode to the agave plant, this tequileria boasts more than one hundred tequilas with a focus on small and artisanal producers. No sour mix will be found in this bar, only seasonal margaritas made from fresh fruits plus a selection of imported Mexican beers.
Lucky Lane – Celebrating the classic pre-prohibition cocktail bar, this tribute to Reno’s gaming heyday features a wide bourbon and whisky selection, cordials, and classically-made cocktails such as sidecars, gimlets and original daiquiris.
V15– This centrally-located bar within CommRow’s BaseCamp climbing facility will offer a full-service bar, wines by the glass and draft beers for guests as they take in vistas from the outdoor patio, or view the action on the indoor boulders.
Centric – This intimate, cabaret-style, live entertainment venue will feature local performers plus a full bar.

******************
Stan's spin:
******************

"QTF?" - South-of-the-border translation of the favored English utterance/existential question, featuring carbon-based tacos being served to carbon-based life forms..

"Da Stan" - my twin brother from Brooklyn will read aloud from Stephen King's classic work, "The Stand", in a thick Brooklyn accent, while offering watered-down, overpriced drinks in a surly and bitter manner.

"Lameoni" - Mediterranean-inspired marketplace, where you'll haggle with Greece's public sector over two lifetimes of unfunded pension entitlements.

"TaTaBar" - Bodacious ta-tas will be on display, as scantily-clad waitresses will....oh, who am I kidding? This place is way too pompous for such honest fun.

"Contorted" - Absentee owners will do their best to explain this so-called "Do it yourself" dessert bar, which will offer garnishes like maraschino cherries, crushed nuts, and heavily diluted whipped cream from vending machines. Actual desserts will be served elsewhere.

"Blackout" - Despite the implications of the name, the strongest thing served here will be non-free trade coffee, procured from the earth by humble Colombian farmers trying to shift away from coca crops, but then distributed by heartless, multi-national corporations which spend their weekends foreclosing homes on little old ladies.

"UpChuck" - So-called "Healthy" snacks, which would actually induce vomiting in an otherwise healthy and liquored-up Reno patron. Just imagine enjoying several whisky sours, and then encountering these offerings: Roadkill mix, Cream of Veggie Surprise, and homegrown granola, fresh from a Reno Hippie's composting pile.

"Oral" - don't go there!

"Lucky Lane" - the one place a Reno visitor might actually patronize, as its unabashed embrace of alcohol provides a beacon shining through the hellish surrounding businesses.

"V6" - Over 300 different motor oils for sale from around the globe. Try the "Brackish Manchester" for a sample of what it's like to drive a sports car in the perpetually-gloomy English countryside.

"Eurocentric" - unapologetic homage to European culture, with not the slightest concern for multiculturalism. Come in for some non-international refreshment!

Don't forget to stay at the "GALLOWS" hotel, where the bedding is spine-tingling!

I guess that's enough mockery; I actually do wish them well, and that they are successful with this - if there's one thing Reno doesn't need, it's another shuttered entertainment venue!
