Wazzup, hope everyone is doing well, sure has been a while! Same ole same ole around these parts, recordbreaking snowfall and snowboarding this winter - it's still coming down! I've had a long series of rather uneventful, very short trips to Reno and Vegas over the past several months, but there have been some pretty nice, although smaller, wins. Rather than going into great detail here are some shots from my recent trips. Gotta admit, sure am glad I hopped on the cell phone cam/iPhone bandwagon, sure comes in handy when you want to capture a nice one.

After just over a year away from the Peppermill and Atlantis (Harrah's still seems to be my spot these days, although not getting as much free play as I was in the past), I decided to venture in on a day trip I took with my new associate and his girlfriend. They were going to Reno to go shopping so I decided to tag along to see if I could raise any funds for another upcoming trip back to Australia (yeah, seems to be turning into a yearly thing!)

I was totally blown away on how much the Peppermill has changed since my last visit. Looks like what was left of the old food court is now a poker room, and the worst was when I discovered they renamed/redecorated/changed the menu at the Coffee Shop. Looks like they took away some of the best items and migrated in others from all the restaurants that have closed there. I happened to notice a couple of items from Saucy's are now in the mix! What'll it be next? However, it looks like the same old machines are around, including the famous Double Ten Times Pay machines by the change booth. As you all know, I've had many great wins on these, and go figure, 3 spins in after sticking in a $20, I got two double blue bars and a Ten Times Pay symbol for $400. Look closely and you can see all the neon reflecting from behind.

Played about $100 of it back and decided to take a walk down to the Atlantis. I have to admit that these days, it seems like the $1 Blazing 7s are my game. Up and down for a bit, and eventually played it all back as the day went on. However, I got to play $3 a pull dollar slots for almost 4 hours so I'm surprised I was able to hold out for that long.

Here are a few shots from the Pep and Atlantis, along with some other jackpots I've had on recent trips - a mix of hits at the Silver Legacy, Harrah's Reno, Harrah's and Harvey's Tahoe, along with the Imperial Palace and Harrah's Las Vegas (where I hit the progressive, oddly enough...on the Strip, mind you...) The best part of the day was the vodka at the Oceano bar after this run!

Hope everyone is doing well! If I can't do one more Reno trip before my upcoming surf adventure, looks like my next casino visit will be down under with the dangerous pokies. Since the exchange rate is lousy this year, I'm already preparing for the worst!

Hi Alison and BC Dave, good to see you all, it's been quite a while! Yeah, same ole same ole at the Pep. I'm getting a little leery because the Cafe Milano, along with the new Poker Room, are all decked out in the new Pep Tuscany style. Actually looks more like Biscotti's now...no more rubber plants or velour, just those trippy cone lights everywhere! Makes me wonder if the trippy carpet and neon are ever going to go away, hopefully not!

Haven't gotten any offers from them lately, but then again, I haven't played there in over a year, so we'll see...seems like they were always good for the two free tower nights. I do occasionally get an offer from their Wendover property but that's a bit of a hike from here.

right on Alison, congrats on the anniversary! Sounds like you've got some offers coming in. Well, now I'm celebrating my whopping 7 year anniversary at the Peppermill, as a...PURPLE MEMBER?!?! I did happen to notice that they revamped their site and actually let you check your points and account online - I always remembered seeing that "It's Coming Soon" thing on their site for years so it looks like they finally did something about it. It says from June 8, 2010 - present (namely that day trip on Saturday) I accumulated a whole 32 points! Meanwhile I'm blown away by still maintaining 50-60 offers at Harrah's each period, the craziest stuff like comped rooms at Caesars on weekends and holidays and stuff I haven't gotten anywhere else. The free play has died down a bit, but then again, the Blazing 7s haven't been bad! So I guess I haven't been spending enough money to get lots of free play.

What's the most is that I'm finding alot of the casinos' sites now have options where you can download your win/loss form right online without having to send away for it. 2007 was the magic year at the Pep - $7800 ahead! I need another one of those!

Thanks for the pics; these are really a shot in the arm for our much-needed "Winning Moments" department!

Where would we be without these handy cameras built right into our cell phones? The mind reels...well, the reels actually do the reeling, but isn't it great to get a convenient permanent visual record of a win right on the spot, rather than having to pull a hazy image from deep within one's murky mental record of an evening's fun??

You do us proud, Mammoth; keep up the good work.

Right on LilyJDragonfly and stan_allen, thanks and great to see you all!

LilyJDragonfly, yeah I said the same thing several years back and started playing mostly reels only. The video bonus rounds are awesome eye candy but I found that was about it, although I did have a little luck here and there and a Powerball video slot was what I won on big time in LV several years back. I'm a graphic and web designer so the video slots are really interesting on the programming side. Plus, some of these new machines might be pennies but I've seen some that can run as high as $50 per spin max bet (and that's all I do) - I thought only the pokies in Australia were like that! Lately, I've been sticking to the simple ones that are known to have lesser value, but more frequent, payouts (Blazing 7s, Double/Triple Diamond series, etc.) and never higher than $3 per spin at dollar level. Then there's the beloved Something-Times-Pay machines which don't hit frequently but when they hit, they really hit! I'm really diggin' the "new classic reels" as well, pretty much brand new models of the classics, only differences being a more modern machine, a little boxier, and some of the reels are see-thru. I haven't seen too many in Reno but they are all over LV. The Silver Legacy was the only place in Reno I found the new Blazing 7s.

stan_allen, yeah I've been having a blast with my new iPhone 4, temporarily had a Motorola Clutch before that and the preceding one didn't have a camera at all, it was 7 years old! The difference in clarity between the two is like night and day. It's one of those things I wonder how I ever lived without now. It's cool because security can't mess with you when you're snapping photos in the casino - I actually had to tell a couple of them at the Imperial Palace, "hey, I'm texting someone, leave me alone, damnit!" Speaking of which, I've been having a blast helping friends jailbreak (hack) their iPhones, iPod Touches, and iPads so hit me up if anyone needs any help!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: the 2 $200 jackpots, the first two photos right after the Oceano photo, were won completely off of FREE PLAY! That was a first. Those were at Harrah's Reno back in January (I had a New Years floater day at work to make up, so I hopped on the bus and went for a day trip haha), I had an $80 express play coupon which went in the first one, and a $30 which went in the second one. Comped buffet at Carvings, then went off to the Silver Legacy where I hit the $200 right below those two. That was an awesome day! Also, the three red 7s hit at Harrah's Las Vegas that says $215 was actually $300, as I messed up and snapped it before the counter was finished. The progressive I hit there started out at an even $1000, as the top display indicated, but added $2 to itself as it was paying out, for a total of $1002.

WHY CAN'T IT BE THAT SIMPLE ALL THE TIME???
