I'm considering a Memorial Weekend trip to Reno and a stay at the Eldorado. I would appreciate any advice or comments from people who have stayed or played there.
Are there rooms to ask for (view, floor, near elevator?) How is the food in the restaurants and service. Is the hotel clean and in a safe area?
Anyone have luck in the casino? I play video poker and my wife plays slots, are there any games we should look for?
Thanks in advance to all that reply.

Augie

I live in Reno so I don't have much experience with the rooms. When guests come we usually put them up at Fitzgerald's because we get good room rates there but there is no pool. Eldorado has some good restaurants and entertainment but I think the gambling is pretty poor. I don't think they have any full pay video poker there. There is a lot of 6:5 blackjack, which I see as an indication of how they will treat their customers in other areas as well. Downtown, you will get better odds at Fitzgerald's, Cal-Neva and Siena. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the reply! Very Happy

Eldorado has the best rates for Memorial weekend because they sent me a mailer for discounted rooms. I played 9/6 JOB $.25 for about 4 hours last November (brother's wedding) and can stay Fri-Mon for $50,$50,$65. I stayed at the Atlantis in November (same trip) and the wife and I couldn't hit anything on slots or video poker after about six hours we gave up. The Eldorado offer was better than the Atlantis offer so we may take them up on it.

My wife likes slots so the info on the Fitz,Cal-Neva and Siena is a great help.

My brother played blackjack at the Eldorado in November and we didn't notice the 6:5 sign. I can't wait to tell him that he wasn't playing a 3:2 game. I may write you later looking for more info.

Again, you have been a great help!!!

Seems to me, that a few months back, someone who frequents the Eldo was talking about avoiding certain towers and requesting others.
Does anyone remember that?

I am guessing that certain tower(s) have been re-done but not others.

Yes there are different towers. I know the "standard" rooms are a little smaller then the deluxe roomswhich are in the tower that is closest to the check in area. I have stayed in the standard and deluxe rooms. I thought they both were just fine. Not much of a difference in my opinion. I can't say that it is really worth the money to pay for the deluxe room. I do like the Eldorado alot and i hope you enjoy your stay there. be sure to write us a trip report.

Hi,

I was just in Reno last week for my yearly trip. I went with my grandpa and we stayed in the Eldorado. We stayed in the virginia tower. Their rooms were remodeled and really nice (i should know i had to spend a whole day in there because I ended up getting this stupid cold flu thing and had a fever and couldn't get out of bed). I managed to get out of bed the next two days though. We also saw the new show Balagan at the Eldorado and that was really good too. Gambling wise it wasn't great. We hit a few smaller jackpots on the wheel of fortune dollar slot and a double 3x4x5x dollar slot machines but got burned quick on the other ones. Amazingly we hit a $800 jackpot at harrahs on a double diamond dollar slot right when we got in, usually that place takes our money quickly within a few minutes. The only other place we did decent was at Cal-Neva.

Alison,
I appreciate your reply and I will post a trip report when I get back.

Jamier,
I will be sure to ask for the Virginia Tower, that was the answer I was looking for. Sorry to hear that you were sick on your trip, better luck next time. My mother hit a $2200.00 jackpot last November at Harrah's on the Blazing 7's machine. My family was in Reno to see my brother get married. Everyone else had better luck at the Cal-Neva.

Thanks to both of you for helping,

Augie
