This trip was definitely of the "wild hair" variety, the wife and I just suddenly felt the need to get out of here.We looked through the pile of offers, the only one that covered us was a free mini-suite at the Circus. We called & the lady said "we won't have anything that soon,oh...wait we have one room" so off we went.
We took I-5 south from Washington and hit extremely heavy rain & wind on the Siskiyous Pass,we managed to make it to the Hwy 89 exit at Shasta City then after about fourty miles the weather cleared up,another forty miles and we hit snow flurries.I put the 4-runner in four-wheel drive but we would have done pretty well without it,as they had plenty of snow plows working even at 2:00 am.We dropped out of the snow at Susanville and sailed straight to Reno.
We showed up at the Circus at 8:00 am,the lady at the desk said" we won't have anything ready for you yet...oh wait there is a room" So up we went. The room was great, large corner room with views...well o.k. one side had a great view.
We played Slots at the Circus most of the time, with a couple of trips to the Silver Legacy,Peppermill and Cal-Neva.We did o.k. but just kept putting it back in.We never did hit any jackpots over 300$ though, and we have found that we just don't get far enough ahead to break even then.We actually did the worst at the peppermill. We had a good time, even if we didn't come back with a bunch of money,we knew that there were a few times that we could have stopped and each been several hundred dollars ahead.
One thing that confused me was that we had food comped at the Circus, along with cash back and then shopping dollars for the gift shops, but at the peppermill I was reading a promotional flier saying that you can get gifts for player points but when we asked they said,"oh no... you can only get free cigarettes and snacks".Maybe that's because we only have the Gold card? I did end up feeling that old-non glitzy Circus had better comps.
My high point was walking into the Cal-Neva and putting twenty bucks in a dollar slot and walking out ten minutes later with three hundred and some bucks!( yeah,o.k. it only lasted me a couple more hours, and it could have been three thousand but it was cool to me.)The trip back was better as far as weather, and we will probably be back in the fall.I do so wish that they would try a little harder to give the indian casinos more of a run for their money though!

LIsom,
Thanks for the Trip Report! Glad to hear that a little bit of weather didn't stop you from having fun.
Congrats on the Cal-Neva win, I will be sure to give them some play when I'm there in May.
Hope to see your Fall Trip Report posted here.

Thanks for the report. I feel that the Peppermill's comps seem to be slipping. I think they need to rework their whole system.
Congrats on the win at Cal Neva. We played over there a couple of times during our last stay for only an hour or two and I had the best luck. Came out of their "up" both times.
