My first ever trip report. I am a terrible writer and STINK at grammar so I apologize ahead of time. Enjoy!

Saturday February 5th

Arrived in Reno about 30 minutes late after a couple of beers and watching Secretariat (pretty good movie) during the flight. While I was waiting for my wife to return to the ladies room, I dropped $5 in a $.25 DDB VP machine and BAM! Four 9’s!!! Cashed out already $62.50 ahead. We took a cab to Circus Circus (we just missed the shuttle) and walked in to a BIG line at check in. We waited in line and are glad we did because it just got BIGGER! Took our stuff up to the Sky Tower 16th floor and got situated.

Went down to the casino at about 3pm. We sat at the bar and played some $.25 VP for a bit. The progressive was about $1,600 so we thought we would give it a go. My second hand I was dealt the 10, J, Q, A and 2 of clubs. I dropped the 2 and BAM! The K of spades. DANG! I thought I had it for a second LOL. We played for quite a bit and left after 4 drinks down $40.

Got a text from our friends who were staying at Silver Legacy so we walked over there and sat with them for awhile in the Silver Baron Lounge (they aren’t gamblers quite like we are). We hadn’t seen them since we moved from California in 2003 so there was quite a bit of catching up to do. We went to dinner at the Silver Legacy buffet at 6:30. It was pretty good. After dinner, we headed back to the room only after hitting the VP machines in Circus for a few more minutes. The older we get the worse the 3 hour time difference hits us. LOL

Our friends went to see Lisa Lampanelli using our free tickets. They said she was really funny.

Saturday summary – No huge gambling losses or wins. I had two 4oak and my wife had none.

Sunday February 6th

We were both awake at 4am. I thought for sure that she would sleep more but when I got up and said “I am going to go downstairs” she jumped up and said “Me too!”. We went back to the bar top machines as the progressive was over $2,000. We sat there for about an hour with real luck to speak of. I hit one 4oak, she had none so left after spending $60. We walked over to Silver Legacy and sat at the VP machines upstairs close to Keno. This is where my wife really started hitting her stride! She hit four 4oak’s in about 30 minutes while I had only one. DANG! We were tied LOL!

Then for some reason we walked over to Eldorado. I hit my first Royal Flush there back in 1996 and have won SQUAT there since. We sat at a nickel Texas Tea machine for quite a while on $20. We love that machine so we always play a little bit when we can. We played $40 a piece in VP machines and hit NOT A THING! Time to exit!

We walked back over to Silver Legacy and enjoyed the bar tops by the Sports book. I hit four 4oak’s (one was 3’s no kicker on DDB) while she had none. We cashed out quite a bit ahead this time and decided it was time to get cleaned up for breakfast.

We left the room and walked by the Circus Circus bartops and someone had hit the progressive. DANG!

We texted our friends and they were not having breakfast so we would meet them after at Drinx lounge for Bloody Marys and Ohio State hoops. We went to Fairchilds in Silver Legacy for their Sunday Brunch and it as always did not disappoint! Everything I had was GREAT with the standout being the grilled lamb chops. I got to where they were right when the cook was pulling them right off of the grill. DELICIOUS! After breakfast we made a $110 bet on the Buckeyes (-4.5), met our friends at Drinx, got a Bloody Mary and sat down to watch the Ohio State basketball game. Right after the game started someone changed the channel. We asked the bartender what happened and he said they have no control over it. Alrighty! We walked down to the Silver Baron Lounge and finished watching the game there. Final score Buckeyes win 82-69. Cha-Ching! We went back down to the sports book, cashed our bet and wagered $100 worth of Super Bowl prop bets.

We went upstairs to wait in line for the Super Bowl party. I am not sure why we did that because the tickets had table and seat numbers on them LOL. We watched the game, had some pretty good food, drank quite a few beers and we won NADA on our prop bets. Our friends from California bet $100 on the Packers and cashed that bet so that was good. We had a good time but thought the overall quality of the party was average at best.

The casinos were all PACKED (no pun intended) after the game. We decided to walk down to Harrahs to see what was happening there. The two ladies went to play VP while my friend and I decided to hit the craps table. What happened next just astounds me. We were playing for awhile and winning. The Boxman starts getting on me about both dice hitting the back wall of the table when I throw. I told him sorry and I am trying to do just that. He kept getting on me over and over again then went to the extreme of saying that I was “setting the dice”. I said what in the world are you talking about? I am not doing a thing to them except picking them up when the stickman slides them over to me. He was practically shouting at me. Next time it was my turn to roll, he walked over to me and said “if you continue to set the dice and not hit the back wall of the table you will be asked to leave”. I asked what he meant by setting the dice and that maybe he and I had two different definitions of what that meant. He replied “You heard what I said and there will be no further discussion”. At this point I was pretty ticked off and just put my chips on the table ($551 worth from a $300 buy in by the way), colored up and left.

After what I experienced at Harrahs (Reno) and what some of my friends have experienced at other locations I can say this with 100% certainty. I will NEVER EVER set foot in another Harrahs or Caesars Entertainment property again!!! I will also encourage my friends (some of them are BIG gamblers) to do the same.

We walked back to Silver Legacy, had a few beers and said good night. It was midnight.

It was a pretty good gambling day.

Monday February 7th – Happy Birthday to me!

Woke up at 7am. We had $5 in free play at Silver Legacy so we decided to play Texas Tea. We put in a total of $45 (including free play) and didn’t hit SQUAT!!! LOL We went over and hit the bar top machines by the Sports Book. That place looked like a bomb went off the morning after the Super Bowl. We sat down and I immediately started having some birthday luck. I hit two 4oak in about 10 minutes. We always move one machine over after we hit a 4oak (just a habit). I am sitting two machines away from my wife when I hit four 3’s with an Ace kicker. $200!

I got one other 4oak, we played for a while longer and I announced we were going back to that Texas Tea machine and demand ted give our $$$ back! We put in another $20, got the Oil bonus shortly after and cashed out for $75. PROFIT! Haha!

We went to breakfast with our friends at the Silver Legacy coffee shop (we had $17 in comps to use) and it was pretty good food although the staff seemed stretched pretty thin.

Said our goodbyes, went up to our room to shower and pack. Checked out of our room (applied what little comp $ we had) and grabbed a cab to the airport.

The flight home was a NIGHTMARE but I won’t go into too many details on that. Let me just say that we were supposed to arrive home at 11:45pm and we got in at almost 3:00am.

Overall it was a GREAT trip. It was good to see our friends. It was good to be in Reno (it had been 1.5 years for me and 8 years for my wife).

We paid for everything in cash. 2 cab rides, 2 nights hotel, meals, drinks (a LOT of drinks LOL) and gambling. We came home with exactly $31 less than what we left with.

The final 4oak count was 22 between the both of us.

WIN!!!

What a great trip! Thanks for taking time to post the report. I had fun reading it.
How did you like your room at the Circus Circus? Did your friends enjoy the Silver Legacy? Happy to hear that the Casinos were busy.
I don't blame you at all for not stepping foot into Harrah's again. Did you ever get the Pit Bosses name? I would sure as heck let them hear about it. What a jerk! Sorry he gave you such a hard time but you were smart to walk.
Thanks again for the report!

Very Happy

Nice job on the trip, and excellent work on the trip report. Never, ever let a perceived lack of grammar or writing skills hold you back!

Return soon, and grace us with another report!
