Just returned from a basically softball only trip. Didn't even have the pleasure of my usual time with John. Softball tourneys are demanding. Was up one morning at 4:15 am for a game. We played early; we played late. We had serious winds with overcast and (my wife said) cold weather. I was never cold on the field.

But, as for cold, my team certainly was. We lost all 5 games. We were overmatched. But I had fun. Did my usual thing: over .600 batting and over 1,000 slugging.

During my required meal times, we had two free buffets in the Atlantis and found it to be very good. Far, far superior to the Pep buffet in my book. I also enjoy the happy hour food in the Sports Book at the Atlantis.

Saw a lot of old friends and met a lot of new ones.
I found it interesting walking through the casinos and checking the profiles of the customers. You could really identify the people there for senior softball. I ran into lots of people there that I knew from before.
There were probably over 5,000 people there from the teams and their supporters.

But scheduling left little free time for anything but softball. I came home tired and sleepy. What little gaming I did while mainly in casinos for meals was not good. Losses as usual.

I invited several Reno friends to come and watch me play but none showed up.

Trip home was absent of snow - what a change. But we had light showers much of the way; heavy rain part of the way; heavy fog between McCloud and Mount Shasta. The burn area along the route is very ugly. But the burn area from 2000 near Susanville is really filling in nicely with evergreen trees. They need to thin it out, sell them for Christmas trees this year, and make a few bucks.

A good trip overall.

When Jerry said "I invited several Reno friends to come and watch me play but none showed up." I was one of those guilty dogs, but I have an excuse! I'm heavily involved in Street Vibrations Motorcycle Rally in June and September. It's not my fault Jerry showed up during the spring rally.

Jerry, sorry to hear your team didn't do well despite your outstanding efforts. Also sorry we didn't have an opportunity to get together and support the local economy.

As a side note, Street Vibrations was amazing.

Business first, John. Next time, we'll do the scene.

I had no idea that St Vibes was going on. We were really derailed downtown and wondered what they were setting up for.

And I was back in the Midwest, enjoying the cold and rain they had to offer.
