Hi, hope everyone is doing well! I didn't post this one right away because it was a bad trip...not much of a Merry Christmas...

After doing well over Thanksgiving, a neighbor and I decided to head back to Reno on Christmas Eve. I had comped rooms at Harrah's and the Pep, in addition to free slot play and dining credits at both places, so we were off.

Made a big mistake by stopping at the Paiute Palace in Bishop after picking up my rental car...$200 gone in about 10 minutes...oops...

Got to Harrah's at about 9 pm Christmas Eve, and the check in area was crazy. Tons of people waiting in all the lines, and only about 2 people working - even the 7 Stars line was not getting any attention. About an hour later, I was finally handed the keys to my comped room in the west tower. Everything was great, and I really like this side of the hotel, as it's right over the Virginia St. casino which is pretty much the only area I play here.

Went to the Carvings buffet and used some reward credits for a free dinner. After that Thanksgiving trip, reward credits really racked up! It was a bit slow due to the crowds, but everything was great.

Lost another $250 between Harrah's and the El Dorado that night.

Woke up Christmas Morning, lost another $100 at Harrah's, and finally checked out and headed down to the Pep. I originally intended to use a comp night that was on my offer, and after waiting in line for an hour, we were told that the rate of the incidental deposit that day was going to be $150 per night. They changed their mind - again! We were so over it, we decided to hang out for a couple hours, then head home. Lost another $200 in that short time frame, and my neighbor was losing God knows what at the poker tables. Went through my $50 free play in about 2 minutes, and bumped into someone who hit a $1950 jackpot on a $1 Lucky Clover a couple of kiosks over.

The highlight of the evening was getting sick on the ride home - apparently the McDonald's at the shopping center down the road from the Pep was not on their game that day, because it turned out to be food poisoning - it was to a point where my neighbor had to drive the rest of the way home. Not pretty!

So, that was it - not the best Christmas, but you can't win 'em all. Heading back this weekend to utilize my offers and freeplay between the Pep and Harrah's, so we'll see. After seeing on the news earlier this evening that someone from Denver landed at the RENO AIRPORT, played $12 on a quarter Megabucks and won over $10 million, I guess anything can happen!

Thanks for the report, and the reminder that we don't always have winning trips. The highlight was food poisoning? You should have stayed home and waited for Santa's visit to your home.

I never have stopped in at that Bishop Indian casino. I got to check it out for myself someday.

Definitely not a contender for "Winningest Trip", but your upbeat approach sets a good example for us all - despite this rather crummy series of events, you ended on a positive note that would revive even the most cynical inner gambler - kudos for your efforts, at least you gave it the college try!
