At the last minute I decided to take a quick trip to visit the casinos. I checked out my offers and found I had one from Boomtown that gave me a single free night (weekday) for only Jan. 2- 14th and $5 dining credit. I have to be at the very bottom rung of offers from this place. I combined this with a better offer from the Tahoe Biltmore and made it a two night deal.

I didn't arrive at Boomtown till about 7 PM, checked in and found my favorite play at the bar--- 8/5 BP with a 3 way progressive. I had some great luck, and hit the aces progressive twice! On my way to the room at about midnight, I played at 9/6 DDB 3 way progressive, and hit the aces again. I ended up way ahead for the night. Also, I think I have an idea why my offers are not that great here........ someone must be counting my empty beer bottles. Very Happy

In the morning I headed over to use my $5 dining credit. I used it at the Peet's coffee area. Picked up a cranberry scone and a small coffee. I handed my coupon over and found the difference was I owed 4 cents. Laughing Boy- there is something wrong with me, as I find their coffee way too strong. I added as much milk as I could, but I still could not drink it...... tossed it away. 4 cents wasted.

I drove over to Crystal Bay and found myself at the Biltmore before 10 AM. A walk around the area to check out changes (none found), and I started to play at the Biltmore. I will get to the end of the story quickly, as my luck turned 180 degrees, and I lost all my winning from the previous night and an additional $100.

I have to say the rooms at the Biltmore are probably the worst I have ever stayed in. Tiny room with a heater on steroids (85 degrees), dripping faucet, stained furniture, worn carpet etc. Well the price is right, and I am not really a picky person, but I am sure some people would walk out. The Biltmore does treat me very well, with free food, free play, rooms and anything else I could want. I checked at the slot club, and the gal told me I have over $700 in comps to spend there. What could I possibly use them for???

I headed home early in the morning, and got home shortly after noon. Not a bad trip at all, and I would have done better if I did not chase after that juicy royal progressive at the Cal Neva. It was over $11K, but playing at the dollar level is just too much for me.

Well, good work on at least going! I have a soft spot for the ol' Biltmore, for some reason, though it's hard to explain why to non-believers.

Hey, at least you got to experience the heady highs for that first night!
