Hi, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Headed to Reno on Wednesday and just got back yesterday, this one was really worth it!

I got a ring from my old neighbor who had mentioned earlier in the week he had some comps at Harrahs Reno. I checked my account but only found about 8 offers for Tahoe only, so we wound up using his account for that. I had a comp offer from the Peppermill for two free nights in the Pep Tower for any night of the week, in addition to another Adventures in Tuscany coupon book and $50 of free play for this period. Although I found out that Thanksgiving night was a blackout date, I still checked in for Wednesday, just so I could take advantage of all of the freebies. I was assigned to room 445, but wound up not even going up to check it out! This particular offer is also usable on a repeat visit between December and January so I'm sure I'll be back - actually have lots of offers from the Pep right now.

Surprisingly enough, I was pretty bummed to notice that the six $1 Blazing 777's are now gone out of the dollar area! Hope they don't take away any of the others, because there are actually only a few in there left that I actually play. Swiped my Peppermillions card and got 4 free dining credits and the letter "S."

Since the freeplay was already on my card, I started scouting around for the old standby machines. The famous 2 coin $1 Double Ten Times Pay has actually been moved down a few seats, but I got $18 on it. The 3 coin machine was occupied, so I moved back to the main dollar area and also hit a 50 pay bonus on the $1 3 coin Diamond Line Frenzy. So, I wound up with $68 off of the freeplay. I think this was the first time I've EVER won anything off of freeplay...

Next stop was Harrahs. Wound up in the east tower on the 21st floor, everything was in really good shape and even though it's the back tower, there was a really good view of the Reno Arch.

First trip downstairs to the Virginia Street casino was a loss of the $68 I had won at the Pep in addition to about $150 cash. After a really good French Dip at the Café Napa, I decided to call it a night. Fortunately, the next day was much better!

I've only played in Harrah's on the Virginia Street side a couple of times before, but this trip, I was completely blown away at the 3 round carousels of $1 Blazing 777's. One of them advertised 98% payback and over, so that was the area most played throughout the day, as it seemed to be doing the best out of all of them. I was heading to the convenient store across the street and decided to randomly try one of the Double Blazing 777's machines that were on the other carousel. Top progressive $5,716, secondary progressive $1018. On the VERY FIRST SPIN, I hit the secondary progressive! (Jeez, I wish it could be that effortless all the time…) The cage was practically right beside it and the clerk was telling me that it had been forever since that machine had hit and it was definitely due. Right place, right time I guess. It's been a while since I've had a hand pay (and one not to be taxed on, no less…)

I decided to take a quick stop in the Cal-Neva (lost about $30) and then headed down to the Eldorado from there as it had been a really long time since my last visit at both places. Found an area of more Blazing 777's and $1 Wheel of Fortunes, but had no luck, lost about $160.

A few hours later, we went down to the Peppermill for Thanksgiving Dinner at the Island Buffet. I've been doing pretty good at the Pep with comps this summer and fall and now winter, and had intended to use a $15 dining credit coupon but was told I couldn't because it didn't apply to holiday buffets. Oh well, no biggie in the end, as it all turned out to be comped. No complaints here as it looked like it was running about $28 a head. It had been a couple of years since I had been in the Island Buffet, always good and they put on quite a spread for Thanksgiving. Lost about $80 more between some 3 coin $1 Pinball, Double Diamond and 2x3x4, so we left from there.

Meanwhile, my neighbor was starting to freak. After losing about $400 at the craps tables, he was wondering if he should stop playing or make one last attempt…fortunately I lent him some money and by the end he managed to win $900 back.

Once back at Harrahs, I decided to hit up the $1 Blazing 777's area again. Did have a little bit of luck on the quarter Wheel of Fortunes by one of the side entrances and also a 200 quarter mixed 777s bonus on the quarter Blazing 777's, but it didn't seem like there was too much else going on.

Over the next hour or so, it was literally up-down-up-down in increments of $200. It seems like I had hit so many $200 3 mixed 7's jackpots over that short time span that it was unreal! I only recall starting that session with $200 and stopped when my ticked read about $865 so I think that session put me up another $650 or so. Along the way, I did spot a lady that hit the top progressive right next to the machine I had hit the secondary on earlier that day, so she had the top jackpot in addition to a few $600 bonuses she had won earlier. One thing that never fails is that i witnessed a $1509 top jackpot on the machine I had gotten up from and left literally five seconds earlier…NEVER FAILS…so, all in all, the Blazing 777's area was definitely the place to be that day. It seemed like I raked up about a million reward credits, I'm really anxious to see what the comps will be looking like here.

Went down for one last session before leaving yesterday morning, and won another $50. Definitely a good trip - came back to a foot of fresh powder for the weekend, and pretty much made up for that trip to Vegas I took a few weeks back where I left down $300. My camera was having some problems this trip but I did manage to snap a few photos of our porta-bar, my secondary progressive (after I played about $150 back!) and the skyline view outside. Hoping for another good one in a few weeks here, before we get too snowed in…

Thanks for the trip report, MG. Looks like things are starting to turn around a little in Reno. This is the second report of wins in as many weeks. Let's all keep it up.

Here's a photo of my latest win:

John, that looks suspiciously like the buck twenty-two I left the bartender for my last Heinie while sitting next to you.

Hey thanks everyone good seeing you all as well! John - don't spend that jackpot all in one place! LOL. One of these trips, we'll have to meet up for drinks again for sure!

Alison - did you have any luck at the "Tulip Casino?" I am hoping that the good machines being slowly gone from the Pep indicates that they are going to put more good machines in. The big hole next to the cashier in the dollar area looks so empty without those Blazing 7's in it! Maybe by the year 2020 they'll upgrade me to Bronze?
