just wondering if I will be short of breath being in reno cause of the elevation? San Antonio is where I live and it sits 700ft above sea-level.

I have had joggers from the SF Bay area tell me they don't have the stamina while running in Reno that they do at home.

If you just sit in a bar or casino and don't lift anything heavier than a drink, you should be OK.

I've never had any problems with it, and I am suseptable to shortness of breath due to some health issues. Drink plenty of water your first day, don't over-do it and you should be fine. By the way, I'm from Tyler and we are only about 50 ft higher than you in elevation.

When I lived in Reno I ran pretty regularly, and adapted from the sea level area I had previously moved from. However, I never really adapted to Tahoe. Even running in Reno did not prepare me for the shortness of breath with little exertion, or from the over all malaise of the high altitude. So, if you do go to Tahoe, remember all the precautions of eating often, drinking water, and limiting alcohol, you can always catch up in Reno!

I don't think so, especially if you avoid strenuous physical activities and stick to normal daily activities for your lifestyle. Downtown Reno is at about 4500 feet or so. Lake Tahoe is something like 6000. I'm sure the exact figures can be found with a google search.
