Hey, Pukecumber. Circus and the Nugget are good places for a cigar smoker. All three suck.

I was just in Reno with my cigars and got a lot of dirty looks from people smoking cigarettes. Are you kidding me?

Cigars seem to be more offensive that ciggies. I'd bet most cigarette smokers don't like the smell of cigars. Cigars always smell better to the one smoking them.

As a cigarette smoker, I can attest that the smell of even the cheapest cigar is fairly pleasant; much classier than what I'm puffing on, certainly.

Smokers have no business giving any other smokers dirty looks, of course (at least not on account of smoke).

Now, if you'd like to see a more positive reaction from your fellow gamblers, try lighting up a joint - of course, you'll last only about ten seconds before security and the entire Reno police department show up, but your gaming colleagues will salute you.

Nice answer Stan, you're a witty guy.

As for Cigars, both R and I smoke them in casinos. They SELL them in casinos, the nicer the joint, the easier they are to find.

Not to get into a debate about this, but an interesting smoking story. Bill's in Tahoe has gone non-smoking. We stopped in there about this time yesterday (Labor Day at 4 PM) should be very busy, right? You could have shot a cannon through there and missed hitting anyone. We had just walked through Harvey's and Harrah's and they were now about 60% full (a relief from the crowded weekend of about 95%). I saw NO one gambling for the first one third of the place. It so intrigued me, I went back and counted. There were 6 people in the front section. I didn't go to the very back, so I don't know about that. What was really amusing, was this huge sign that said "Tahoe's only non-smoking casino!" amidst all the empty machines....

The reality is that gambling, goes with drinking, that goes with smoking, that goes with over-eating (buffets) and many other various non-usual life activities. Californians don't smoke in their real life, but buy a pack when they hit Reno. It's part of the rush. If there is one smoker in a group of 5, (since the smoker will NOT be going to a non-smoking casino), the whole group heads to a smoking one. Looks like Bill's Tahoe was misreading the crowds and are now paying for it.

Quite a few years back, The Ponderosa Casino at S. Virginia and California went non-smoking. It is now a sleazy strip joint where they allow smoking. He who doesn't learn from history, blah, blah, blah.

So, you have non-smokers one step from sleazy strippers???
As a non-smoker, Do I start taking off my clothes now?
(Easy, Alison, I fear that Jerry has a short fuse.)
