Hi there!
Sorry i cant really be of any help.

Why not stay in a hotel? You can get really good deals on hotels in reno.

Alison, thank you for your reply. We are meeting friends from California
who asked about condos. We currently have reservations at Harrahs but did notice that Sands has posted an extremely low rate. Do you know anthing from personal experience about the Sands. We have never been in the Sands hotel or casino. They say that they have undergone renovations.

Hi Fred and Mary, not sure about condos in the Reno area that I know of (unless you were looking to rent a suite somewhere? I'd suggest the Peppermill). But the Sands is definitely not bad for the money, they changed ownership and put a couple of new restaurants in, also remodeled their rooms. Keep in mind that it's a couple of blocks of a walk to the rest of the casinos on the Strip but it's not bad at all. Their casino is a little smaller and tighter than the others but you definitely can't go wrong for the money, just don't expect any glitz. They do have suites there as well that look pretty nice on their website (one of them is pictured on the button that is clicked to make reservations but I think you have to call them direct to book them)...try to stay in the Empress Tower, it's the tallest one and has the free health club/hot tub on top. Also try to request a corner room/suite in this tower as they have actual sliding glass doors and balconies overlooking the other side of town (a real plus as most hotels in any gambling town don't have windows that open at all!) Definitely try Mel's Diner if you go, 24 hours, good shakes and burgers too.

Hi Fred and Mary. A few months back, I was contacted by an outfit called SellYourTimeshareNow.com and sold them an ad on visitreno's home page. If you want to check it out, it's at the bottom of the home page just under the wedding chapel graphic.

I haven't used them, of course, but they pay their bill.

FredAndMary,
Personally, i think you will be able to find a better deal staying at a Hotel then a condo. When are you staying in Reno?

I have stayed at almost every hotel in Reno. The Sands was a basic hotel. The rooms were large. Nothing fancy, but do able. The nice thing there is the bedroom windows actually open more then an inch, unlike most hotels. It is a short walk from the Sands to the other hotels.

The benefit of staying at a Hotel vs a Condo is you may be able to get your room and food comped based on your play. I don't know if you gamble much, but its a good benefit.

Thank you, John and Alison!

John - we sent an inquiry to the timeshare and await a response.

Alison - We'll be there 3 short nights 9/4-9/7. (We know it won't be long enough, but we'll take what we can get!) Very Happy

We'll keep checking the hotels to find our "deal"! We have player's cards for Harrah's, but haven't stayed there before. We would like something within walking distance of the hottest slots and tables!!!!! Rolling Eyes

Fred is burned out on Vegas! They're rude! The hotel personnel need attitude adjustments Exclamation

Well i keep getting those e-mail offes for 2 free nights at the Fitz. Maybe when it gets closer to July'ish they will send me the offers for September. It allows you to forward them to a friend so if you are interested, you could get 2 free nights there. I just sent it to Carl for his upcoming trip in June. The fitz is pretty basic. The sands also has low room rates. They are a couple blocks away from the main casino area. I will look around for ya too!
